Campfire by the river

I have a skillet prepared just as soon as I prepare these catfish fillets. I am adding lemon juice. I am leeting the campfire die down some so as not to burn the skillet. I am dipping the fish in batter and adding some spices. The river is so calm.

RE: A good reason not to trust electronic voting machines...

I still have a disc of red hat and knoppix but I know they are way out of date now. If I remember right you don't even have to scan disk and defrag Linux.

RE: WELCOME TO THE RAINBOW BAR,ALL OUR WELCOME

So what do you have to do to get a drink in this establishment, lol? Bartender bring me and my friends another round.

RE: Why are we boring?

Its them bloody cockney accents, lol. Would you care for a cup of tea, govner, lol? I wonder how the Queen is doing today, lol.

RE: A good reason not to trust electronic voting machines...

We got the watch the, "Pirates Of Silicon Valley" and the "Matrix" in our hardware classes. I especially like the pirate movie because of the old cliche of, "The pot calling the kettle black". Here is one of the biggest pirates of all time when it comes to software expounding on how it is wrong to pirate software. Linux was allowing the kernel as freeware with the condition that you had to share the changes that you made. Of course some used his kernel to change it and make a profit from it. The inventor of the mouse is hardly given credit for his work but asked the older secretaries who had to type it all in. By the same token imagine the DOS days when there was no user friendly graphical interface. I remember going on the internet in DOS. It was freaky, lol.

RE: WELCOME TO THE RAINBOW BAR,ALL OUR WELCOME

Oh my, yes, lol.

RE: WELCOME TO THE RAINBOW BAR,ALL OUR WELCOME

Hmmm, lol. Nice place. I see you have dusted. I will just take this bar stool on the end. Oh, good, I have found a bowl of peanuts.

RE: A good reason not to trust electronic voting machines...

Read and write permissions make sense. We had one professor who they fired that left his imprint but they were ready for him because of what you said. He just thought he was a hacker, lol.

RE: A good reason not to trust electronic voting machines...

Our professor was doing community service, lol. He was an ex hacker, lol. He could set out in a company parking lot an access almost any security system. He did prison time when they finally busted him. He would have his little lap and make millions in a matter of minutes. When he finally did his community service for the college he accepted the best offer that he was given. He was like our idol, lol. The guy who did the security and that was his boss couldn't keep him out of the system, lol. One of our professor accidently infected the whole college with a virus. He inserted what he thought was just a little Pac Man game. He said whoops, lol. They were down for three days.

RE: A good reason not to trust electronic voting machines...

Our hope was for Lindows which was a combination of Linux and Windows. Linux uses the kernel so much better than Windows. Windows is a big memory hog. Compaq came out with 8 megs of RAM built on the motherboard. When Packard Bell changed to Hewell Packard and merged with Compaq it was a good thing even though were both proprietary. When I left they were talking about the organic processor. I have been out of the loop too long, lol.

RE: A good reason not to trust electronic voting machines...

I am not that up to date, lol. We were working with combo routers and the separate units. But I still think Bill Gates' quote that DOS is dead is the dumbest thing he ever said, lol. The college looked at Linux as advanced DOS, lol. I still think Linus Torvalds rocks!

RE: A good reason not to trust electronic voting machines...

So true. I was just looking through my Internet Security book that I got from from college that is six years old, lol. My professor made the coolest hardware firewall. It was Linux. Linux is a study all to itself, lol. Personally, I think firewalls are facinating but others may not get into that sort of thing. He made his as a stand alone unit from an old computer that routes through it before going to his main computer. He made it with two internet cards but they can be made with three or more.

RE: HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MIKE THE MECHANIC

Happy birthday, Mr. President, sorry I don't do Marylyn Monroe very well, lol. Happy birthday, Mike.

RE: A good reason not to trust electronic voting machines...

I have heard that you can vote directly via your computer. Here if you got to get food stamps or get a driver's license there is a little check box asking if you would like to register to vote. I voted once and stood in this line that seemed liked it lasted forever to pull these crank handles behind a closed curtain. Then you read about this thing called the Electorial college and wonder if your vote counts. Before Kerebos the internet was not even a challenge for a hacker. A voting machine compromised should be a concern especially if have had to take a day off of work; went through the lines with your kids and get a certain amount of patriotic pride from believing in the system whether you have no idea from what the press has released about the particular candidates that you vote for.

The Heartbeat Of Love
by RainbowSlider

A broken heart that beats strong.
Many are the paths that are wrong.
You gave my heart a new song.
I am so grateful all the day long.
Was it chance that we did meet?
How did you get a smile so sweet?
Did you know I fell at your feet?
Can't you feel my heartbeat?
I was so blind to the reality.
Ignorance is my specialty.
I looked at the mediocrity.
I knew only the insecurity.
Touch me again so I know.
You make my passion grow.
I love to see your hair blow.
Tears of rain and they flow.

RE: Do some go hunting for revenge ?

If you scratch an itch it will not heal. It may be a temporary solution. If you put a bandaid on it. It is still is a temporary solution. If you scratch it; it will spread and you take a chance of it becoming infected especially if your nails are dirty. It might take time to heal. Consult a physician. Self prescribed medications may get you into trouble depending how deep the wound is. Live and learn. Live and let live.

RE: Men, how many children are "too many" in respects to dating?

Well, you are the beauty and I am sure you have dealt with the beast before. dancing

RE: Men, how many children are "too many" in respects to dating?

Must be your maternal instincts that betrayed you. rolling on the floor laughing

RE: Men, how many children are "too many" in respects to dating?

I am still trying to raise myself. To be able to be mature enough to help raise others is not feasible for me.

RE: Do you ever get to the point that:

My ex tried to change me. I have came to the conclusion that she had some good ideas. She was right a lot of the times. I was upset with her non-acceptance. The change must come from within. We must change for us and not for them. They may be right but if we don't see it then we will just try to contradict it. I was an accident waiting to happen. We have to see the answer and know that it is the answer for us otherwise we will just fight the change. I feel that when one can accept self as one is then one can accept changes from without. Constructive critism can seem the same as destructive critism. I lost so many friends who were just trying to help me. I was self-will run riot. I fought myself and everyone around me. I have a rebellious streak that will just not stop until reason shows me the error of my ways, beliefs and my misunderstandings of what is really the truth. I like that song with the words of, "You got to walk that lonesome highway. No one can walk it for you. You got to walk it by yourself."

Godzilla Is On The Loose
by RainbowSlider

Godzilla is on the loose.
I tried to capture him
but it was just no use.
Tokyo will forgive him.
They will just rebuild.
He knocks down towers
and so many get killed.
They plant more flowers.
Godzilla feels welcome.
We needed more room
and Godzilla just comes.
They all just get a broom.
Its just Godzilla upset.
No need to really worry
he is just our big pet.
We all get in a hurry.
Godzilla is on the loose.
I tried to capture him
but it was no use.
Tokyo will forgive him.

Forever Night
by RainbowSlider

Should I act like you are not there
though deep down I know you care?
Should I think it was circumstance
that you made my heart to dance?
Should I not give you my heart
for you have done your part?
Should I not try to make amends
to you and to all of my friends?
Should I not really believe in you
when you have always been true?
Should I look for fortune and fame
as you come when I call your name?
Should I not try to settle down
and raise a crop in this ground?
Should I stop chasing rainbows
and be where my love grows?
Should I just throw in the towel
ever to go on the endless prowl?
Should I not try to see the light
and live under a sun so bright?
Should I just close my eyes
and not see where beauty lies?
Should I live in shadow blight
and dream in the forever night?

RE: Do you ever get to the point that:

I think a person chooses to be single. There are those real reasons that people have divorced. The past can be the key to the future. One can give up on the chance of a miracle to happen. We can get stuck in a rut. Sometimes the answer can be right before you. We can develop a stigmatism how we view things. I used to think being single was a curse. At the same time think, wow, this is awesome. So it can seem like a blessing and a curse. There can be that expectation that there must be a right one out there and that we have just not met them, yet. We can grow impatient and our tolerance level can drop.

RE: illegal immigration

If the locals won't date you, Pete, then threatened them by saying you are going to date an illegal alien. Tell they would be doing their country a great service. Tell them that it is their patriotic duty.laugh
