RE: Hail to village people!

Its fun to be at the Y.M.C.A.laugh

Any Dark Shadows fans?

To the delight of a ballroom full of Dark Shadows fans, their favorite former vampire, Jonathan Frid, made a long-distance "appearance" at the 2006 Dark Shadows Festival on August 26, greeting them with a phone call broadcast over the speakers. The actor, who portrayed Barnabas Collins on DS, has retired to his hometown in Canada and hasn't attended a DS Festival in about a decade. While other cast members reunited on stage Saturday, Festival Chairman Jim Pierson placed a phone call from the podium, and the room erupted in wild applause and cries of "We love you!" as as the audience recognized a familiar voice. Jonathan sent his best wishes and joked that he'd been afraid he might not be able to connect with the fans because he was having problems dealing with his long distance/internet company. Barnabas Portrait Sells for $13,000!

RE: Spider

A garter snake?

RE: Spider

Oh, what a tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive.

RE: night all

You don't have to worry about disturbing people in here because they are already disturbed.

RE: One Night Stands...come on in and have one with us!!

Good night ya'll.

RE: One Night Stands...come on in and have one with us!!

I am sure they will be in here soon.

RE: This has been tried before.

you will have something besides just the tequila sunrises. It is a long time before sunrise...

Any Dark Shadows fans?

So do you think Buffy could take on Blade, lol? Man she can kick, lol.

Any Dark Shadows fans?

I thought it was sad when Angel and Buffy had their tiff. I can't remember the guy with the white hair who looked like Billy Idol, lol. But I thought he was cool when Angel got his own show.

Any Dark Shadows fans?

I have always been fascinated by vampires. I loved the movie, "Love at first bite". Forever Knight was an awesome show. It took me a little bit to get into Blackula. I liked the movie Blade. Buffy the vampire slayer I really liked. I wonder how Buffy and Blade would do in a movie. I know there slaying skills are a little different.

Any Dark Shadows fans?

I just loved the show. :) I thought the show had some interesting plots.wave

People must not have respect for vampires any more.rolling on the floor laughing

Any Dark Shadows fans?

I think Barnabas Collins was awesome. He was almost as good as my hero Vincent Price.

I Would Rather Be Me
by RainbowSlider

I would rather be me;
happy, joyous and free
with my friends about
than in my past without.
All that I have suffered
has now been buffered.
The loneliness is all gone.
Each day I greet the dawn.
Your love covers whole
as Autumn leaves blow
and the winds caress
all of my emptiness.
I feel so alive in peace.
My heart is at ease.
I feel sweet serenity.
I would rather be me.

Sure thing, Babs :)

Once you open up and just let go you can become human then a world of opportunities opens up. I have literally thousands of friends now.cheering

RE: Proud 2 B a:.....

I hear that. I had to grow a backbone, too. Mom took me out to breakfast this morning after church. I am still a momma's boy but hey I can live with it, lol. I am having to grow at 49 and it is difficult but totally impossible. It has been slow going because my ignorance is devistating; my antagonistic rebelliousness trying on people's patience and my attitude is not alwys one of gratitude but things are turning around for the better in my favor. My kids still like me and the child support is finally all paid off. I am getting rid of the checking account; have cut up all the credit cards and even dealing with my student loan. I am proud that I am still trying to do the right thing.

Blind Obsession
by RainbowSlider

I was blinded by my obsession.
You were to be my possession.
I never got to know you at all.
An error in my judgment call.

I had read the golden rule.
And I had been to school.
But I coveted you for me.
That you just couldn't see.

I must have been invisible to you.
Your wants were invisible, too.
You were something I craved.
My feelings couldn't behave.

Can't you look at me that way?
Is all that I could hear her say.
She couldn't see what I saw.
She didn't know me at all.

I wonder what was so unseen.
Our envy was just so green.
Blinded by a vision in blue.
Blinded by the golden rule.

RE: Proud 2 B a:.....

I am proud to be home. Have a job starting this Monday. Getting back into being a student. Working with people and helping others. Taking the actions that I know that need to be done and being a productive member of society.

RE: Greetings From My New Home

Don't you just love librairies? It is great you got your new home. I bet you are still unpacking, though. Glad you have a place you are at home with. Well, atleast you are getting your fix, lol. You are a fast mover. Good luck with it.

RE: blind dates

If both are wearing masks like at a costume party isn't considered a blind date, too? I have watched interesting movies where they realy never got to see who the other person was.

RE: To all my friends, and CS'ers.

Yup. The WOW. Right on. thumbs up

RE: WHAT WAS THE LAST MOVIE THAT YOU WATCHED?

I got to see the 1905 Papers recently. I thought it was awesome on PBS. In the first of three seminal papers that were published in 1905, Einstein examined the phenomenon discovered by Max Planck, according to which electromagnetic energy seemed to be emitted from radiating objects in quantities that were ultimately discrete. The energy of these emitted quantities, the so-called light-quanta, was directly proportional to the frequency of the radiation. This circumstance was perplexing because classical electromagnetic theory, based on Maxwell's equations and the laws of thermodynamics, had assumed that electromagnetic energy consisted of waves propagating in a hypothetical, all-pervasive medium called the luminiferous ether, and that the waves could contain any amount of energy no matter how small. Einstein used Planck's quantum hypothesis to describe visible electromagnetic radiation, or light. According to Einstein's heuristic viewpoint, light could be imagined to consist of discrete bundles of radiation. Einstein used this interpretation to explain the photoelectric effect, by which certain metals emit electrons when illuminated by light with a given frequency. Einstein's theory, and his subsequent elaboration of it, formed the basis for much of quantum mechanics.

The second of Einstein's 1905 papers proposed what is today called the special theory of relativity. At the time Einstein knew that, according to Hendrik Antoon Lorentz's theory of electrons, the mass of an electron increased as the velocity of the electron approached the velocity of light. Einstein also knew that the electron theory, based on Maxwell's equations, carried along with it the assumption of a luminiferous ether, but that attempts to detect the physical properties of the ether had not succeeded. Einstein realized that the equations describing the motion of an electron in fact could describe the nonaccelerated motion of any particle or any suitably defined rigid body. He based his new kinematics on a reinterpretation of the classical principle of relativity, that the laws of physics had to have the same form in any frame of reference. As a second fundamental hypothesis, Einstein assumed that the speed of light remained constant in all frames of reference, as required by classical Maxwellian theory. Einstein abandoned the hypothesis of the ether, for it played no role in his kinematics or in his reinterpretation of Lorentz's theory of electrons. As a consequence of his theory Einstein recovered the phenomenon of time dilatation, wherein time, analogous to length and mass, is a function of the velocity of a frame of reference. Later in 1905, Einstein elaborated how, in a certain manner of speaking, mass and energy were equivalent. Einstein was not the first to propose all the elements that went into the special theory of relativity; his contribution lies in having unified important parts of classical mechanics and Maxwellian electrodynamics.

The third of Einstein's seminal papers of 1905 concerned statistical mechanics, a field of study that had been elaborated by, among others, Ludwig Boltzmann and Josiah Willard Gibbs. Unaware of Gibbs' contributions, Einstein extended Boltzmann's work and calculated the average trajectory of a microscopic particle buffeted by random collisions with molecules in a fluid or in a gas. Einstein observed that his calculations could account for brownian motion, the apparently erratic movement of pollen in fluids, which had been noted by the British botanist Robert Brown. Einstein's paper provided convincing evidence for the physical existence of atom-sized molecules, which had already received much theoretical discussion. His results were independently discovered by the Polish physicist Marian von Smoluchowski and later elaborated by the French physicist Jean Perrin.
