RE: Life on other planets

We will have to have test subjects and will have to test the effects that the low gravity will have on the weed. Scientists will want to know and we will have to record the data.

RE: Life on other planets

You are right. We may run up against competitors.

RE: Life on other planets

Hmmm. We could call it a lifeform. We get a grant and call it an endangered species. Oh, wow. I can see it now. Lunar weed. Wow.

RE: Life on other planets

Has anyone contemplated growing Mary Jane on the moon?

RE: Life on other planets

Thanks. I have been looking for the white out for some time now. laugh

RE: Being homeless-

I have seen something like that in Kentucky. People had these cardboard signs saying will work for food. They would sit on the offramps. Having it on the main road and they can get you for hitch hiking. A lot of companies have went to the temp agencies to hire people instead of hiring them directly. Temp agencies used not to be so prevalent but companies don't have to pay those employees insurance, can get them at a lower pay to the employee and can have a ready source of personel. Some permanent workers are afraid of the ready temps because they see how fast they can be replaced.

RE: Being homeless-

I think Palmar is one of the best things that the police and the churches have combined on. Gas vouchers can be gotten through the police station that the churches donate to them. The police run your identification and if you check out you will be given aid. The Palmar program helps to keep the churches from being scammed but able to help people needing help. It helps the needy motorist who has run out of gas.

RE: Being homeless-

When I was in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma even the jails were crowded. People I knew who were vagrants didn't have the seven dollars that one had to keep on your person otherwise you could be charged with vagrancy. The ones who could make it into jail and out of the cold were trustees but the cops were giving tickets like i.o.u.s. to the vagrants because the jails were full.

RE: Why are people cruel and selfish?

RE: Being homeless-

I would just like to thank the people in London, England for starting the Salvation Army. I am not sure where the Red Cross started but I know they have helped many folks.

RE: Being homeless-

There are so many ways to take this thread, Kat and thanks for posting it. I used to work for the Salvation Army and was on the crew when people donated stuff to it. I have sat with the bell ringer. People do care. I didn't want to sound negative but many people worked for companies for 20 and 30 years only to turned back to the unemployment lines. Companies have downsized and some companies said the unions caused them to file bancruptcy. The homeless come from many places.

RE: A near full moon

Must be a near full moon. It would of worked better with a full moon. tongue

RE: Why are people cruel and selfish?

Ben have you went to her and asked her if she was cheating on you and verified it? Did your friend say this? Are you acting on heresay? I may be wrong in writing this but are you sure that she did actually cheat on you?

RE: A near full moon

I know you can write poetry, Duncan and I will be anticipating more.grin

RE: Being homeless-

I chose to live homeless for a few years. Back in the late seventies job were plentiful; a person could hitch hike all over America and there were seasonal jobs. One could live at the place you worked or pitch with other transits. People were generally friendly and enjoyed the company of a hitch hiker for various reasons. Then greed obsessed America and the big chain businesses were not just satisfied with having part of the business but why not try to monopolize and drive out all the competition. The friendly people began to become a thing of the past as more scammers prey on them. Trust became an antiquated word. Truth in advertising started to slowly corrode as a moral deficit started to take over. The big fancy businesses didn't like the homeless in front of their nice businesses because they got in the way of potential customers. The homeless were not looked at like Americans down on their luck but as scum to those that had money. Some homeless people would look up wondering if the high class folks with their noses turned up would drown if it rained, lol.

RE: big place london

If you have any interesting data on Stepney or the tower region I hope that you would post it. I am interested in the history between 1587 through 1618 era. My ancestor was born there in 1587 and married there in 1616. I have done a study of the water front. Saint Gregory By Saint Paul, London and Stepney Docks St Katherine's Dock is another interest.
When the St Katherine's Dock was built 1250 houses were purchased and destroyed and 11,300 inhabitants removed, many being turned on to the streets. Few received compensation since they were renting their accommodation.
A vast fire, in 1794, had burnt down much of Ratcliffe, Shadwell and Stepney. It was on ground still half covered with the tents supplied by the Government's military stores at the Tower of London that the new slums of Stepney, Shadwell and Ratcliffe started to rise alongside the old.'
Many famed people lived in the parish including adventurers and explorers and many of these sailed from Stepney. Sebastien Cabot (1450-1498) who lead the search for the North West Passage in 1499. Sir Walter Raleigh's half brother, Sir Humphrey Gilbert (1537-83), a navigator, was born at Buxham and lived, at one time, in Limehouse. He was the first Englishman to sail the Atlantic and founded the first English colony. Henry Hudson embarked upon his voyages from St Katherine's Dock and his final voyage and last attempt in April 1610 in the 70 ton 'Discoverie' to find the North West Passage was made from Blackwall. Martin Frobisher (1535-94), who helped defeat the Armada, left from Ratcliffe Cross in 1576 with 35 men on the 'Gabriel' and 'Michael', on his way to search for the North-West passage. Sir Hugh Willoughby, in 1553, sailed from Ratcliffe with a fleet of 3 ships to find a north east trade route to Cathey and India. He, along with the crews of 2 of the ships, were shipwrecked off Lapland and died. The third vessel, the 'Stephen Bonaventure', with Captain Stephen Borough at its head, found a passage to the White Sea and landed at Archangel. Following this the Muscovy Trading Company was formed. William Adams of Ratcliffe (died 1620) and John Saris of Aldgate were the first Englishmen to sail to Japan. They sailed in Dutch ships and Adams was never allowed to return to England. He left a wife and two children in Stepney and took a new family in Japan.

RE: When Do You Walk Away??....

Mutually agree to walk away has always been my way. Both of my divorces were Nolo Contendre. When it is over it is over. No need to prolong the agony.

RE: You Had It And Took It For Granted.....

I have taken love for granted but did not know it at the time. The problem was that I was not romantic. It was a case of not knowing what I had until it was gone. Had I known I wouldn't have taken it for granted. Hindsight is better than 20/20 sometimes. Live and learn. Making the mistake once can teach but making the mistake over and over can be insanity.

RE: Horror/Suspense Films

That was Brandon Lee, Bruce Lee's son. I got to see the documentary where Brandon Lee's mother wrote for Bruce when he was laid up in the hospital. I thought she was a remarkable woman.

RE: ok has someone ever said so many mena things that it has gotten you physical ill

Wonderful thread, Laurie. You can turn a negative into a positive. To be a survivor one has to do that. It can make you appreciate what you have now. I have heard this as counting your blessings. Just realizing that you don't have to put up with people who are unkind is a blessing in itself. The survival instinct can make us strong. When I read about all the horror stories on here faced by CS members it makes me stronger. I know now that it could be a lot worse.

RE: Horror/Suspense Films

Oh, yeah. Great movie. Did you like the movie and series, "The Crow". I thought that little girl who played in that movie was precious. That lady that kept saying, "I like the pretty eyes." I think she was disturbed but interesting.rolling on the floor laughing
