Yes, this 'timeliness' of litigation is definitely a critical. In the end, I believe U.S. EPA will be thorough enough to protect us and our environment, with respect to the pipeline. I doubt this would happen if the request for permit to install and operate came under certain other administrations.
Canada can keep and use their crude. It's potential to harm our environment, alone, far outweighs the temporary jobs created to build it. in my humble opinion.
I break from US EPA thinking and guidance at times, but not on this issue. There is too much to risk building and using the proposed pipeline. Official Opinions can be viewed if you use the following link.......
Intelligence and creativity are very much alike. All people have some yet it depends on the environment and the development of them for their expression. And I do not see why Art-and-Science have to be separated.[/quote]
I'm with you on this. And so did two individuals, both deceased, who were tech savvy pioneers with vision. I'm talking about Steve Jobs (Apple) and Norio Ogha (Sony). I think they admired each other, and both believed the creation of new technological innovation requires a mix of science/technology and liberal arts.
I last experimented with marijuana back in the 70's
I just learned that our college board has eliminated the Essay part of the Scholastic Aptitude Test as part of it's redesign.(tool originally intended to create a classless, Jeffersonian-style meritocracy).
I hope the UK can turn this lower performance attitude around. Maybe technology is to blame for a lot of attention-depreciation going on there (and here) as pointed out in the article you provided..... "Previous research has suggested that using text messages and email causes concentration to drop, temporarily reducing IQ by 10 points, while smoking marijuana has been associated with a four-point drop in IQ."
Hey, I wish I had more formal edu! At this point in my life I'm not sure of it's value, if I have to pay for it (fortunately I'm retired with a better lifestyle than when I worked).
However, I'm taking advantage of programs which my State university has, providing us old-folk free access for continued non-credit courses (excludes medical and legal coursework, and any phd work.)
I'm enrolled in more aviation courses under this program later this year. Maybe someday I'll pilot my own little aircraft on my own. Scarey thought, eh?... Galrads packing his own parachute and flying over Europe. ...... .
I somewhat agree here, when it comes to scholarships and grants. I could be wrong but I think serious guidance is lacking in these united states. A lot of people here do not see the value in empowering themselves to attain a higher level education, or one with good grades. Maybe they will wake up someday, learning not to trust politicians with their needs and values.......
The USA founders did not have a materialist interpretation of rights but as liberties that the state should not infringe. There is no way they would have included "right to education" if proposed.
The founders did not think in terms of guaranteeing one person's right to another's resources. Here, education is a state and local matter. Every state constitution has a provision for education.
Teacher Unions, however, create corruption in lower grades which doesn't help anyone, especially slackers, prepare for college/university level edu. IMO, our best schools are non-public or least subsidized ones.
I can't believe I read this in a CS forum! Free! Just give it too me! Who cares who had to work hard to make it possible for me to get an education free! I deserve it because I work hard and I'm intelligent, by someones standard anyways! And, who determines who works hard and who is intelligent?
Our SAT ACT and tests used here to determine who and where a college applicant was selected is obsolete, and never should have been used!
"Human intelligence is so multifaceted, so complex, so varied, that no standardized testing system can be expected to capture it." I agree with others who believe if you have good scores in high school that you'll do well in college.
Yeah, I deserve everything free in life, as I was hardworking but not intelligent!
