Really, I didn't know that someone unequivocally found Amelia's Lockheed Electra?
Here's another similar flight that disappeared over a body of water. The DC-4 plane with 55 passengers and three crew members disappeared over Lake Michigan approximately 63 years ago.
Sell everything you own, empty every bank account and send her the money. She adores you and loves you so much, so don't wait another minute. This way you will sleep better too.
The pressurization controls on a 777 are in the cockpit. If it is on and the system is operating correctly, regardless of the aircraft’s altitude in flight, the cabin pressurization system will mimic the pressurization at 8,000 feet or less. If it is off, and supplemental oxygen is unavailable, then cerebral hypoxia is an issue.
Btw, the 777 is FAA approved to fly at altitudes exceeding 40,000 feet, so climbing to approximately 45,000 feet does not mean catastrophic engine failure.
I'm thinking the case is criminal; piracy. I believe Malaysia is giving bad information, but may not be intentional.
I want all the passengers to be alive and healthy, but I also think the plane climbed higher than 45-thousand feet long enough for the passengers to suffer cerebral hypoxia (if their emergency oxygen systems were deactivated.)
Let's hope that it didn't explode, crash or suffer any other catastrophe.
Recent reports indicate the plane's communication system continued to ping satellites and that it was headed West for hours after the transponder failed or was switched off.
The planes Rolls-Royce engines and all other on-board systems communicate with satellites through the planes central communication system.
Everyone's guessing what the fate of this flight actually is. I doubt the crew is still alive, but want to believe the passengers are.
Global positioning technology is one thing, I was addressing why phone calls or text messages do not appear to have gotten out on this flight.
Cellular phone voice and data communications do not use satellite technology; satellite phones use satellite technology for voice and data communications.
Regarding cell phones: to the best of my knowledge, cell phone towers don't exist over water. Cell phone technologies requires there to be a line-of site among towers to work.
Airline phones use various technologies including satellite.
And most cell phones don't put out a lot of power. If they did, cell phone user's brains would cook.
The Wall Street Journal has updated its previous reports to include an explanation of how communication signals actually transmitted from the missing flight.
I hope they find the plane and passengers safe, soon.
Corrections & Amplifications U.S. investigators suspect Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 flew for hours past the time it reached its last confirmed location, based on an analysis of signals sent through the plane's satellite-communication link designed to automatically transmit the status of onboard systems, according to people familiar with the matter.
An earlier version of this article and an accompanying graphic incorrectly said investigators based their suspicions on signals from monitoring systems embedded in the plane's Rolls-Royce PLC engines and described that process.
bad pole and bad feeling. If no one is found or the flight was diverted elsewhere, something must have happened so fast that the crew or anyone on board couldn't get an SOS out. Even communication gear has redundant systems on board. Pilots are trained to fly first then alert. I have a bad feeling this flight disintegrated. Probably terrorist act.
There's usually a workaround to these problems. For example, many republicans registered as democrats in the last primary, to vote against Clinton. Democrats do the same thing, more often.
