Johannesburg - A would-be hijacker was shot and wounded on Tuesday by the driver of the car he tried to hijack near Wemmer Pan in Johannesburg, police said.

Four men attempted to hijack the car on Mooi Street, polic spokesperson Lungelo Dlamini said.

"The victim was at the on-ramp of N17 when his vehicle was blocked by another car," said Dlamini.

"As he tried to make a U-turn, the suspects shot at his vehicle. The motorist got out of his vehicle and returned fire, shooting one of them in the foot."

Police arrested the wounded man and another man.

The two would appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court soon on charges of attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearms.

@Luke....we are living in very scary times indeedhelp

A man came into my shop this morning asking for a donation and in conversation he asked me if I had heard about the lady that was killed the other day...in his eyes he seemed to justify the killing as "oh well she was just another rich white lady, so what!"

I was shocked and horrified at the coldness and acceptance of such evil by the average local mindset and afraid for the future of this beautiful country of ourssad flower
I'm afraid, too, about the local mindset dogkeepers blowing my head off again in the future...
It seems like people in Johannesburg cannot shoot as well as people in Durban. After that little boy was dragged along while hanging outside the car and my brother had been hit over his head and thrown out of the car and my son was held at knife point and thrown our of the car on the mountain near Worcester, in the middle of the night...I vote for kill car hijackers as they have no regard for human life. devil
uh oh wow this is a big subject, firstly I once read that if you draw a gun it should only be to kill, if your life is in danger a foot is very easy to miss dunno secondly during the last 30 years how many times have we seen a brutal regime overturned by something more liberal & chaos break out, makes you wonder why the original government was so brutal dunno there has to be middle ground between making a place safe & the current crop of useless governments we see around the world dunno beer
