Heart Felt

the best things in life
cannot be seen
or touched
just felt in the heart
and the heart grows stronger
when shared by we two

the bookstore

tommy was the skipper on the tugboat 'whiskey smoke`.. he lived for his two husky dogs and loved his rum and coke..

twenty one and crazy.. I was rougher than the quay.. tommy was like a father.. who saved myself from me..

tommy told a story.. of a girl he lost to time.. and the price you pay forever when you discard something sublime..

"I'll call it the bookstore and let me make this bold.. no book in this here store is ever getting sold.."

" nineteen hundred and fifty-six.. I first met Vanessa fair.. her eyes kinda made me seasick.. I'd go swimming in her hair..

but I was young and foolish, couldn't keep it my pants.. I was ruled by rum and other blondes.. it was just a temporary dance.."

"every book I have is her memory.. I can read her anytime.. but I've paid the price of losing her.. every dollar, cent and dime"..

tommy died ten years ago.. I now skipper whiskey smoke.. he left me his two huskies pups..

I call 'em rum and coke

All One (Definition, Triangular, Nonet)

A
single
u n i t y,
a oneness, all
encompassing, sums
everything we now own.
Possessions of no value
defining how we are assessed.
Judged, without the monad of our souls

About this poem:
Definition poetry as the word suggests, defines the subject.
Triangular poems, are one of the shapes you can make a poem conform to, in shape or concrete poetry.
Nonets are poems of nine lines, where the first line is one syllable, and you add one syllable to each subsequent line, until the ninth line has nine syllables.

i will push on...

I bend but not broken down.
I may have lost, but I'm not a loser.
I've failed, but I'm not a failure.
I've fallen hard and will get up and continue.
I been isolated, but i don't care.
I have been destroyed but i will rebuild.
My heart is broken, but I will fix it.
See, no matter how close I come to breaking,I will continue to push on.

PEACE TALKS

"Knock, knock, peace here.
Can I please pull up a chair?
I would like to chat a bit.
You look tired please sit.

I know you have been searching for me..
It has been a tiring search I can see
But you searched the wrong places
You were looking at the wrong faces

I was never out there somewhere
I was always standing right here
If only you had stopped to look within
My oh my how happy you could've been

I watched you cry so many nights
As you waded through your many plight
I tried to tell I was there in your heart.
Just waiting for you to find me from the very start.

I am here now, so dry your tears
Let's put away these chairs
Its time to live happy and care free
Knowing inside you is where I'll always be."

I am Finally Free

sinking in the maelstrom
of tumultuous thoughts
caught in the rage of storms
blizzards of gales unforgiving
as your bipolar moods
like prisms of light so blinding
grinding me so frayed
down to the core of my bones
but..
even as wasted and hopeless
I have become
it's my time to turn around
unflinching and untiring
no more giving up
I will face you head on
oh mighty and brutish shadow
oh wicked and diabolical
spirit of my past
I have had enough
it's time for me to be free
to be solo again
facing my future on my own
alone, and even if I fail
over and over again
I will not be your slave
anymore, I am so done
I will not succumb
this time
nor will I run ever again
God is my witness
I am finally free.

I will move on.

DANCE TO THE BEAT

Oh Great Spirit guide my life please
Make me the person you wish me to be
Your great love is all I need
Dance to the beat – Dance to the beat

Please make my paths smooth and clear
Watch over my loved ones that I hold dear
Provide them with everything that they need
Dance to the beat – Dance to the beat

Please bring peace to all and stir us from war
Everyone – not just far away – but also next door
Show us that all lives matter to thee
Dance to the beat – Dance to the beat

Your spirit dwells in each heart
The body and Spirit never apart
Whatever is done to us is done to thee
Dance to the beat – Dance to the beat

Oh Great Spirit as the sun sets in the sky
And the darkness of the night goes by
Please watch over us all as we sleep
Dance to the beat – Dance to the beat

The smell of tulips

I am melting
In spring
In the clouds
That swirl
In the puddles
And in the sky,
In blossom of the trees
In the tulips smell
In the strangers smile
Do not look for me
I feel so good
Melting in spring

My Dream

Last night I fell into a restless sleep,
soon after I’d been clearing out my fridge,
sorting what to throw away and what to keep.
I started dreaming I was walking o’er a bridge.

The path I trod soon led me to a street,
whose pavements were all packed and thronged with folk.
I was only wearing slippers on my feet.
The people stared and laughed as if that was a joke.

I saw a row of shops all in a line.
I ran toward them, tripping o’er my slippers.
And there, on a shop window, was a sign
which said, we will buy your date-expired kippers.

And as the grip of sleep began to soften,
I resolved to clear my fridge out much more often.
