Do you believe in the Law of Attraction? Think positively and positive things will happen! What you put out to the Universe you get back! , Like attracts Like etc. I think it's poppycock
I reckon I kind of do have some kind of belief system, though it does not involve any higher power or miracles, that you try to play nicely in the sandpit and things pan out alright. But the reality is that crap things happen to the most decent and lovely people for no apparent reason. So the law of attraction aspect, even that can go horribly wrong where one is completely besotted with the wrong person.

not a believer myself! Too much positivity grates on me after a while, whereas too much negativity has the same effect.

yes, i do believe in the law of attraction.
but it's not a straight forward...think about something...and you get it...., it's not like donating time at a food bank expecting to get specific immediate personal gains beyond a sense of contributing something positive. and i don't think it has anything to do with 'like attracts like'.
it's also about one's frame of reference, and how they view situations/events/folks... change your perspective, change your reality. that's why two folks can have an entirely different perspective on a single event shared.
it's about a lot of things, including learning to observe, and letting go.
if you are familiar with 'the law of attraction', have you listened to abraham hicks, ekert tolle? (as they give insights into perspective and what we bring into our lives.)

I don't know, what is the Law of attraction as diff people seem to have diff definitions. I haven't a clue
I do believe, in the main, we get back from people what we put out.
How did that date you were going on go ? Enquiring minds and all that

Wiki "The law of attraction is the name given to the maxim "like attracts like" which in New Thought philosophy is used to sum up the idea that by focusing on positive or negative thoughts a person brings positive or negative experiences into their life. This belief is based upon the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from "pure energy", and the belief that like energy attracts like energy"
Yep, if you're going to be an a**hole towards someone, then more than likely someone is going to be an a**hole in return (btw not wiki......that was me )
Aragorn11: Ah yeah, avoid the important question and copy and past from wiki
I think our thoughts are powerful, but not 'out there' more internally as they dominate how we feel and behave. Am not so sure if I think about it enough that Nicole Kidman will turn up at my doorstep wearing only an Arsenal jersey tied up above her belly button. Oh make it so, oh make it so I do think if we are positive in our thought process we can achieve greater things.
I was hoping you wouldn't notice Vinny , let's just say it has been a very long date , so come on your turn, spill
The same jersey Tom Cruise used as a nightie? sorry shouldn't try to ruin your fantasy

Well, no, not necessarily a law... Trying to keep yourself in a good spirit no matter what is OK, but you have to go through the hard part anyway...it won't change it... Pushing yourself to be always in a good mood and suppress your true feelings is extremely harmful not only to your mental but physical health too... And as a matter of fact most people who are classed as "beautiful souls", always helpful to everyone, forgiving and living their lives to do good to others usually end up having a hard life and near to none appreciation.

I agree with you there
In response to: Pushing yourself to be always in a good mood and suppress your true feelings is extremely harmful not only to your mental but physical health too...
Suppose there has to be a happy medium, you can't shrug it under the carpet and pretend everything is alright because as you said it's harmful to your health but on the other hand it can be harmful to your health by dwelling on it and not being able to move on either .

Unless the reference is regarding magnetism (gravity really isn't attraction...)....no, I do not believe in a supposed Law of Attraction. PS - In magnetic reference....opposites attract, but this applies to magnetic field theory. Unfounded and groundless metaphysical altruism....imho
