Some guy called Obama
I looked wistfully back at March 2016 and guess what, there were 3 - only THREE - political blogs on this international singles website. One about Japan, the other 2 by a nutter were demanding changes in the US. That blogger's profile is shown as deleted, but the anger and wild wording is remarkably similar to a 'new' blogger currently showering us with violent opinions and multiple exclamation marks. We've heard more (often foam-flecked) about this guy Obama since the other guy took over than in all the years of his administration. why do the new lot feel so irrationally threatened? Actually, don't tell me.I'll go read a blog if I ever get interested enough to care. Certainly plenty to choose from. Three years ago, 3 political blogs on TWO screens. Just on our first screen on an
international
singles
website
there are 16 political blogs about the USA. Overkill.
More to the point, though, spotted a few names back then who are MIA, does anyone have good news about Dedovix, Catfoot, Vikingson, Jarred, Abby, GoldenGloss, Ccincy, Unlaoised, Pedal, Ed1941? I know Chrome is getting married, Mapmaker I wish would come back occasionally even if he is violently allergic to US politics, and oh we miss you Pat8lanips. If it is just the political thing keeping you lot away, we can raise a petition or something.
(There were others who I do know have reappeared under new profiles since 2016 eg Dreamcatcher )

I think there was a one blog per day limit as well as one comment per blog limit as well. Folks had to be a bit more disciplined and take the chat to the forums.
Eh...f'k it's early...need covefe er sum chit
People come and go and sometimes like me have to change names, other than that I have no problem even with a face uplift
"Catfoot ... the journalist living in SA."
Say it is not so
Several persons on Poetry Corner, including myself, posted tributes to him.
I think Red has genuinely mistaken Cafetwo for Catfoot
Sorry.
Hi Soc
So whatta we want? one visible blog per blogger, default view being blogs sorted by most recent comment
When do we want it? NOW
See, my view on life, per my LAST blog which if I get my way will vanish rarely if ever to be seen again, is the world should always be sorted to best suit me.
If it suits a bunch of other people as well, super cool
And if it suits the majority, WIN.
But leaving because my favourite albeit only blogging website is being ruined, RUINED I tell you, by a bunch of numpties is my last resort. First, I see if sweet reason, whinging, and complaining, will sort things out. Your solution of letting them eat cake somewhere else is lovely and all but jeez how many bloggers have we lost as a result? Nah. It is not a sensible option. Bullies flourish when nobody likes to make a fuss.
Fay, with respect - you'd have enjoyed CS a lot more the way it was, and your last website was wiped out by not taking a fuss, so laissez faire is obviously not the ideal solution.
Like Miguel felt moved to say - I'm a busybody nag who likes to micromanage.
Trust me. We can Make CS Great Again.
Enjoy your covefe having a hamberder with that?
Thanks for popping by. I look forward to seeing a lively blog from you in the near future?
Are not
am SO
and now I shall go do stuff and when I have finished doing stuff I may come back and put new comments on every one of my 300 or so blogs MWAH HAHAHAHA
Blogs can only rise to the top when someone other than the OP comments.
The bad part of that is it breeds sock puppets.
"Facebook is extending its ban on hate speech to prohibit the promotion and support of white nationalism and white separatism."
Many of the current multi-bloggers don't care whether they get comments or not, they are already working on the next blog.
Last worry, how could I start my counter-attack, bumping 50 of my own blogs a day to crowd out everyone else until my point was made, under that ruling?
Dinna fash, that was a joke ...
While acknowledging some irksome details...
STATUS QUO
It's likely better than the remedies for the irksome details.
I was surprised to see a US FB friend I had always considered pretty rational taking up arms, you should pardon the expression, in favour of the right to bear arms. But, but, but ... he said he's been using a rifle on the farm since he was a child, and in the hands of someone who has been properly taught they are completely safe. Well, yeah. Never said not. But how about the loonies getting handguns and going on a shooting spree? He was completely taken aback that I could think he was supporting THAT. Well - yeah you are -
Sheesh. All we (not just me, others on this blog) are saying is bring back one blog on show per person BUT leave the current default of showing most recent made.
That's not irksome.. No fortune would need spending on the change. Everyone would still be able to blog right here in the same place instead of having to move to the local forums. The alternative we are all going to be nagging about WILL be local forums, you know. One political blog per person per week, any more than that has to go to forum. In the blog you can point your anxious readers needing their fix to your latest offering. Reasonable?
You're not that frequent a blogger, you very rarely have more than one blog on the first screen anyway!
And if some had to combine several comments on the same subject on one blog instead of raising a bunch of almost identical copy-pastes, well ... see the tear in my eye.
Cheaper for the site to maintain, as well, I'd guess. Awful lot of cyberspace wasted on repeats right now.
Coffee? or is it beer time yet? It is here. Salud.
See, I even bisected the word in anticipation
But I'll take the bottle of vodka anyway, thanks
Biff, I drew this for you. If you're , all the better.
I'll be back later to sort it out if needed.
Many of the current multi-bloggers don't care whether they get comments or not, they are already working on the next blog.
Agreed as some blogs are about current events, trivia or a topic only important to the blogger.
One example would be my blog/diary about work on my condo. We're past the point of (possible) interest to anyone else. If I continue to add comments and it didn't rise to the top, I'm okay with that.
Oh... thanks for my next blog idea!
I'm thinking that perhaps we've learned from the defunct site that the worst reaction the rest of us could have is to hurry by, eyes averted. Bullies must be tackled like bullies. Report them to teacher, drown them out in a chorus of other blogs culled, if necessary, from the past. Other solutions? Not much point going in direct because mules can't listen, they can only kick.
And ditto - my RL blog talks a lot about work on my house in Spain, which is also an ongoing (and possibly lifelong project)
bloodyleaking roof. And it still leaks whenever raining cats and dogs.
Anyway, thanks for this blog, Biff. Hope the "Authority" will take this into consideration.
I read on someone's blog that it was considered rude if you didn't acknowledge every response.
The back and forth banter is what forums are used for and they were around long before blogs.
Going back a few years, MD had a chatroom for instant communication, forums for asking questions that solicited responses and blogs to convey thoughts, ideas or just document your roof leak.
"You should pardon the expression, in favour of the right to bear arms."
He's, of course, exercising his right two bear arms.
And umm...here's Dr. Putinstein's Monster.
Now cat what would he do to me nothing bad I'm sure, SORRY ALL
Sorry Biff
If the mods have watched at all they will now know we want
a) to revert to one blog showing per blogger
b) but also the status quo maintained
c) another hundred or so bloggers recruited
d) all blogs with 3 or more exclamation marks in the heading deleted instantly and the blogger cast into outer darkness
e) blogs to be statements of facts with no comments AND blogs to be chatty interchanges
so I think we have cleared it up nicely for them
When I moved to the UK I learned it is standard to practically paper the place with Christmas cards and I was buying charity card packs by the cartload and spreading around 100 cards on average, a fair chunk of those to my neighbours, some of whom I barely knew by sight. I always got more than I sent out, and I always felt guilty and rushed round buying more at the last minute. What a pain, but it was local custom and I did it.
When I reached Spain eek no charity card shops and the tiny range of Christmas cards available was eye-wateringly expensive. Fortunately, phew, turns out there is little or no card-giving here, close family and friends only. So I went with local custom.
It just seemed natural to fall in with the local way of doing things.
