I have decided to join the army.

Earlier today, I came to the realization, that it would be difficult for me to find a job, so I looked up some information on when it would be too late to join the army, and complete basic training.

Google told me, that the prime age for soldiers in the Danish army is between 18 and 49. Being that I turn 35 in 11 days, I felt that it was time for me to apply. So I did.

The email went out a few hours ago. I am supposed to get an answer soon, though I hope they come back to me fast. I wanted to join the air force, but they were fully booked up. So the army will have to suffice.

There are a number of reasons, why I am joining the military. One of them is that I want to cure my fear of weapons. I am not loving guns at all, and I feel that basic training will help me to respect guns more, and I also want to feel like I belong somewhere. I want to find myself, and test myself to the limit. I feel that the military will make me do just that.

If I am successful, I am joining them in the second half of 2020, so I have some time yet.

Good for you guy and sincerely hope the army will do for you what you expect it to do
Make a man out of you and oh yes they will do that.........thumbs up wave
I can't understand why someone would want to join an organisation to kill or be killed.

You can test yourself by doing the Ironman challenge, and if you really feel the need to 'love' guns, go to a firing range. Find the love there.
mollybaby - I have thought of going to a shooting range, but the thing is, there aren't any here. There are shooting clubs, but they are not using military grade weapons. It's mostly air rifles and such. I am joining the army to serve my country, and if that involves getting deployed and shooting a gun, then that is what I am going to do :). Hopefully I won't be required to kill anyone
I kicked a Chinese man between the legs and he ran around shouting "army barracks"wink
Are you joining the Denmark Army or the US army?

I knew people from all over world when i was serving back in the 80s. Im not sure if they still take foreign recruits? but you might check it out beer

If its weapons you are wanting to familiarize yourself with? buy yourself a Crosman M-4 177 pump pellet/bb gun

and this red green reflex site

and some ammo- BB/Pellets, learn to site in at 15 meters, then practice longer range shooting

Buy more of them and open a shooting school. Charge a fee. The military is a younger mans game

But I'm unabashedly more than a bit prejudiced grin

NOT the best option if you're prone to seasickness scold
For reasons made obvious in the vid sick

I cannot applaud your decision enough. Congratulations on what is a great way of going forward in your finding of a productive way of earning your cash.

If everyone were like you, we'd have less people on the dole and more people securing our borders and helping with natural disasters. I salute you and godspeed! handshake
I have seen some of your past posts and I can't believe you are ready for the realities of joining the army. I got a uncle who was in the Canadian army and the stories he told me of what they had them doing would make your head spin.

Do as much research as you can before making this choice, get to know what you are getting yourself into.
hmmm

I'm going out on a limb here, tropic...and correct me if I'm wrong...

But I'm guessing you're NOT a recruiter.
Call it a hunch dunno

Tropic - I think the US military, which I assume you are talking about, is VERY different from the Danish military.

But I will ask all the questions if I get selected for further consideration. I can say no if I find a job before the second half of 2020
