The trouble with Tribbles

So I stayed in another motel this week... just like any other week I guess. You become blase, disinterested... and for me personally I rather like my own bed a little too much to enjoy a motel.

Have you ever noticed that the pillows are never quite right?! Of course, you can put this down to old age... there was a time when I never complained about any pillow I used, but now... it seems I have grown fussy.

I am beginning to wonder if the perfect pillow exists, or if it's a pipe dream for me. I have tried so many and sometimes they are okay for a few weeks, but then ... another sleepless night, another kink.

Pillows are breeding in my home, as I seek out the perfect pillow, I collect them along the way. Sometimes I pass them along to others in the family that are short on pillows... Often I simply discard them. It's beginning to remind me of the Tribbles on Star Trek...The Tribbles were non-intelligent lifeforms that were known for their prodigious reproductive rate.

(Photos were taken in a motel in Boston last year... I can see there was Papa Bears pillow and Mama Bears pillow...but where was Baby Bears pillow... you know? The one that was 'just right'??)

tad early for pillow talk abbysleep
I can't say I have tried a silicon pillow, Aisha... I have tried pillows recommended by chiropractors.
Benni... is there really a bad time for pillow talk?conversing
What do they look like? Those long sausages which u put under ur neck? so that u can never sleep on ur side?
No, memory foam. I have purchased two this year. Weird to look at, you can adjust it by removing 'wedges'... The second one I bought was a child's version and mostly that is what I use now... the others always seem too high.

I have considered buying a sideways pillow, but I have never had anyone tell me they are worth purchasing. I can imagine buying pillowcases to be difficult if you bought the 'sideways sleeper'.
you can buy foam rubber of different thickness , and cut to fit your pilow case .....fixed banana
Virgo...or I can buy a pillow, follow the instructions inside... only to find that once again, I am disappointed.

sigh

... another pillow bites the dust.

Well before those, Aisha... I have tried most pillows available in Harris Scarf and Spotlight. I am yet to find the ideal pillow. smile
Timotie... I have had feather pillows for over twenty years...I finally threw them away recently. They do very little for me. My mother uses them at her place and I don't like them either.

Maybe if I am really good this year, Santa will give me a perfect pillow. grin
What's all this pillow talk?
rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

Funny, pillows have never bothered me. I need two when I read and one when I sleep. When I put my head on that pillow, I'm off to lala land.

But it must be nice to sleep in a motel every night... For a month or two, I suppose.

Cat... it's entirely innocent ... I assure you! innocent

I have four pillows on my bed for aesthetic reasons. I like the balance. However, I only ever use one. And that one is never quite right... if I ever find the right pillow, I shall commit to it for life. heart wings
Ummka... I know if you want a herbal calmative, you find one that is a mix of chamomile, valerian, passiflora and hops... it helps aid sleep naturally. I believe Blackmores does a herbal tablet with this mix, and so does another major brand, Natures Own.

I have never heard of a pillow, but it sounds rather enticing. I have tried lavender in the bedroom too... another natural sleep aid.
I assure you it there will be very soft and magnificent pillow. My grandmother did such pillows to children who badly sleep.teddybear
I don't doubt you, Ummka...but I have never heard of them locally. It seems I am going to have to do some research.

Thank you. bouquet
