I always wonder

no that isn't true I never wondered it in my life before. But I do now.

Harun Yahya (aka Adnan Oktar) says "I always wondered why birds stay in the same place when they can fly anywhere on the earth. Then I ask myself the same thing.'

Well - ah - um -

House. Mortgage. Dog. Cat. Job. Inability to build nests in tall trees, or catch my food on the wing.

They sound awfully like excuses to me. I'm a bit of a gypsy at heart, and right now, right this minute, I would sell up and take to the road in a comfortably-fitted-out gypsy caravan to lead the gypsy life at the drop of that hat. sigh
Hello
Lets swap.. Please...
What, you want to give me Durbs while you come here to Mud Island? wow

DEAL
I thought birds fly south in the winter. I would do that also.
Ish you can come over to me when I get to Elegs place.... I'll find you a good man...in fact I will give lessons...... Elegs hope you are ok with snakes, frogs and bugs..... PLEASE SEND ADDRESS

Good night all Sweet Dreams
Night, 2B. Sleep well. With all the snakes, frog and bugs. uh oh
Ish, some birds. Sensible ones.

I'm flying south this weekend, but only a few hundred miles, not expecting tropical sunshine or Spanish-style fiestas. Just warmer rain, really. sigh
I reached that conclusion about 15 years ago & went as far south as is possible ( in realistic terms ), but having been on here for some time sigh it seems most would sooner stay where they are in the rain, moaning like hell whilst they slowly rot doh dancing
Seems I'm part of the most. Maybe I am just a discontented person because I did whinge about the heat in SA. And the snakes, frogs and bugs. Not to mention mozzies at night.

frustrated

Okay, a place that's hot, but not too hot. Has a week of snow a year, but otherwise is temperate and pleasant, with lots of variety and easy travel options. Where is it?
hi Eleg/ if i knew that ,i would,nt be here replaying to some crazy old bird like you.....tongue roll eyes roll eyes rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing wave
2Bback, thats a deal, but what kind of lessons will I be taking?
Biff you have to visit Granada. You have snow or beach, depends the mood you are in.
I guess I live in a similar climate, but it is really through choice.
Do I complain? yup sometimes. Especially when the rain looks like it will never stop.

But I also know I live in one of the most beautiful countries in the world. And going to West Cork on a sunny day in Spring or Summer makes me forget the wet days.

Also, I live 10 minutes from the airport, which can bring me to Malaga in a couple of hours, and I can lie on the beach in the heat to my heart'a content there , and forget about everything.

So it's all good really.
Molly, I hate hate hate going on holiday alone but also live near the airport. Hey! idea Meet you in Malaga!

Yes, Scotland on a sunny day - winter OR summer - makes up for the wet ones. When I walk the dog on the foreshore, and the waves are glinting in the sun and the sky is forever, it doesn't matter whether I'm bundled up like a snowman or in summer togs, it still catches my breath after all of these years. In fact snow on the mountains opposite just improves the picture.

I probably needed to be reminded of that. handshake
Tru - I have officially gone off you. snooty
Ish, I wondered about those lessons too!

Snow as well? Wow. Thought you only got that kind of combo in NZ. Hmmmm.
Biff, I nearly always go on holidays alone. I just couldn't be bothered waiting for other people to decide if they want to go or not.

However, when I go to Spain, I am lucky enough to have one of my best friends living there, 5 minutes walk from the beach, and an open invitation to go over whenever I want.

I love friends smitten
Tchah, I had a friend like that, could go anytime a good flight price came up, just phone and say hey, I just booked, meet Friday's plane!

Then friend got into such a complicated multiple love-life it stopped being an option - or maybe I just wore out my welcome?

Nah. I'm a wonderful guest. grin Terrible, terrible, hostess, but a wonderful guest!
I have a spare room, but it has bike stuff in it.confused
Peds, a riding room?wow

laugh
Biff, I'd better make sure my friend'a relationship stays secure so!

They have just bought a holiday home up the mountains as well, so it will be a 2-resort holiday next time...ya! cheering
Pedal, would you allow your female guests to even reach the safety of the spare room? cool
Only for waiting out the hot flashes.rolling on the floor laughing
Just wait until you have written a bestseller and made lots of money - then you can rent out your current abode and live somewhere else for a while and see how you like it. yay

I'm the opposite. I hate moving and renting and finally made up my mind after 10 years to settle down here. There are some things I'll never get used to, hole but I love my little home and have no intention of moving again EVER. conversing
All this talk of birds, now I feel like eating some KFC.
How could Harun Yahya never knew of migratory birds?dunno confused
Caravan? CARAVAN?

Hmmmmmmmm.

You could have something here.
Flown to many places before I found a place to settle, now I just sit back and wait for others to fly to me. grin
“Some birds are not meant to be caged, that's all. Their feathers are too bright, their songs too sweet and wild. So you let them go, or when you open the cage to feed them they somehow fly out past you. And the part of you that knows it was wrong to imprison them in the first place rejoices, but still, the place where you live is that much more drab and empty for their departure.”
I would never have a partner that keeps birds, other than chickens that have to be caged for their own safety. To me, keeping birds in cages is a major personality flaw.
wow eleg caravan would suit me down to ground, I missed the boat when I was younger. Now (me) the old engine needs gentle loving servicinglaugh from time to time so I just move home. Hope I stay in this liitle home for awhile I am on 1 years lease this time.
Z said Spain I had thought when first retired of Malta but found it so different then when on holidays and too hot for me, so I reckoned Spain in summer would be the same. So came back to North East.
I holiday in Scotland a lot as you know, the scenery is out of this world the air so fresh and clean I love it and recharge my batteries that way.
mmmmm A bird no no a butterfly for me I would come back as butterflypeace
KN - from your lips to God's ears on the best-seller front. laugh

I like my stuff around me. Living on the road for a while still sounds attractive, and then something a little more permanent. Like this?

Pat, pick up a family KFC and pop on over. Hot air balloon should be the quickest. laugh
But Usha even migratory birds stick in the same place. They just have two of them, summer and winter.
wow wow and thrice wow hope the water is warmgrin
Chrome - the sun on your face, the wind in your hair, the freedom of the road ... a loaf of bread, a jug of wine and thou, beside me in the wilderness.

Plus when the neighbours get annoying, up anchors and sail on.

That's one of my most complicated mixed metaphors yet, I think. :quiet pride:
Sola, well done on picking a spot where every prospect pleases, and only man is vile rolling on the floor laughing

Golly I am on a quoting ROLL cheering
Redex, isn't it GORGEOUS???
Aw, Wolfie, that's the nicest thing you ever said to me.

You said it to me, right? rolling on the floor laughing
Caravaning sounds wonderful, but it wouldn't be a way of life for me as I would still need a base to call home. My favorite place would be somewhere that has all four seasons...not pseudo seasons that meld into each other so that you don't really notice much of a change. I really do love all four seasons with winter and fall at the top. hmmm, guess I'll stay here!
applause laugh
