The saucepan blog.

Yesterday, I bought myself this shiny new saucepan. So I thought what a great blog idea, a saucepan blog. where people can share their saucepan stories, pictures, and ideas.

I thought I'd start out with something simple, so I boiled a few potatoes and carrots. It seemed to go alright, so we'll see how we go.

My saucepan is not as shiny like yours, but I still love it just as much.

I use it for boiling rice; quinoa, pasta and potatoes so in some small way, it plays its part in bringing the cultures of the world together teddybear
That story brings a tear to my eye. I'm a little saddened you have neglected to involve the French culture, so I think the decent thing to do, is boil up some frogs and snails.

I can only find slugs in the garden, not snails, and they just don't have the same je ne sais quoi
Hi Pat8
The one next to the shiny saucepan caught my eyes more. laugh
If I found any of my pan stained, then it's time to give it away. I don't know why, but I don't really like using it anymore. So I always try to use my cooking utensils carefully.. or I have to clean them extra. grin
Oats would be nice . Where is the cover.
saucepan brought back a memory, I remember once cooking some peas in my pan for all who is reading this don't do what I did.....I fell asleep... wow what a rude awakening it took days to get the smell out of the house sleep
Well, from the look of it Pat, they all need throwing away.roll eyes

The frying pan looks like a Teflon one to me? - very bad for your health!
And the shiny one looks like aluminium? - also bad for your health.! scold

Mine are stainless steel and I don´t use Teflon coated.
Yeah anlee, the lid is brand new glass, you can see the handle of it on top.

Wen... Yeah that's pretty much what's happened to all my other saucepans. I do a fair bit of smoke alarm cooking.
As for snails and frogs...... sorry, not for me either. scold
Daniella, The frypan is indeed nonstick, I believe teflon is very stable, that one would be about 15 years old and the surface is still perfectly in tact. And no, I'd never use aluminium, its expensive stainless, 25 year guarantee (if I keep the original receipt)
I use micro oven these days for most things, even have micro steamer for my veggies, the never touch water.

Heating up food etc soups scauses i use micro pans they do the trick.

However to make cheese sauce i use pan to pour over my micro steemed cauilflour for a yummy dish.

So pat afraid my pans are not in much use these days, but my micro pans are red grin
@Wenever
Thaaaaat happened to me a few times. laugh
Fortunately, my nose was sensitive. It helped waking me up before too late.

It's made of ceramic.. So different from your teflon, my old frypan is a bit sticky.

But steaming is my mostly way of cooking.
Heyy.. I like white color in stoves. thumbs up
Mine is gray because I couldn't find the white one.
Pat, Thats a nice pan, I couldn't help noticing your stove was somewhat clean, I would appreciate any hint and tips you can all share as my stove is a little dusty and hard to clean.

Red, thats my kitchen, its a little dated but fully functional with an open roof aspect, designer chic actually.
Clean? there's ras el hanoush all over it from making roast lamb yesterday, and coffee all over the bench. But I spose its probably OK for a bloke.
Pat, I did notice the slight spillage, but in comparison to mine its spotless in a blokey way.
Map your noes grows longer every day liar giggle
Red you continually call me a liar, what have I lied about in this saucepan blog?
have you ever had a pot that you love to cook in ? if my pots are stained which means i cook alot , i would not run to the store every time to make the merchant richer ,
nice pot, but i prefer to cook on a propane or gas stove.
Red, my kitchen is not only spotless, it is rinsed every time there is any rain unless I remember to put a bowl under the flue snooty

Luckily has only rained twice in the last 2 months grin
Oh, should have commented on the saucepan but I am too green with envy laugh
Red, you should ask Map to post a pic of his bed. Go on, ask.

Map, I see your renovations are going brilliantly well laugh
Make some stew then leave it in the cupboard for a few months.
Then just chuck the stew out and your pot will be seasoned. Never wash it.

I presume it works for pots too professor
Biff, Just to give you some design inspiration, I will add a pic of my bedroom.

Its Laura Ashley bedding, in a nature themed room, artistic tiles and debris created by a famous local artist, Its a tad uncomfortable but a brilliant conversation piece, my visitors are jealous, I can feel it.

Map, that's exactly the natural look I am going for in my house - rustica supremo. smitten

You are an inspiration handshake
Biff, I do too, Mr.Congealed egg seems to dominate my utensil storage container, yet I dont cook eggs, I have a ghost here that probably does.
I'd prefer gas, as Marlina says, but I'm renting and not much of a cook at the best of times so its not a big priority for me. It doesen't have too much germs so thats the main thing.
Just because your brother is a grub, doesn't mean all tea-heads are, mister.

I've never spoken as much Oz in my life.

Translation : Just because your brother is less than clean doesn't mean all tea drinkers are .
Pat,
My dad is the same.
Tea science he calls it laugh
Molly,
Thanks for the translation laugh
Pat, if you don't take that back, I shall have to ban you from this thread snooty
Biff, don't go being so logical scold
I have so much to say about this, I hardly know where to start!

But let's begin with the positives

A most handsome saucepan, well done handshake

I can foresee many happy days ahead cooking with that bad boy

I also commend your upcycling of a coffee jar for the sugar, and the fact that it then matches the currently-in-use coffee jar also appeases my ocd tendencies somewhat (I probably would need to remove the label from the coffee jar for a more complete experience though conversing )

However, I too find the small frypan less pleasing, in addition to that small amount of spillage on the stove top, which I recommend you remove asap before it becomes a major problem and ruins your life completely conversing

What an exhilarating and unexpected experience this has been on an otherwise ordinary morning, I've enjoyed it so much I'm going back for another look just in case there's anything I've missed! grin
My dream is to have an OCD cleaner teddybear
@Serene56
Nicely said. thumbs up
I reflected upon Serenes comments all day, first thing I did when I got home was to remove the coffee label from the coffee jar. Normally I wouldnt do that kind of thing, but after stewing on it all day I just marched straight up to it and ripped it off and threw it in the bin. However, I then had to rotate the jar so the little dabs of glue face the wall.

And youse can all back off about the little frypan, it's the best frypan I've ever had. When I die, I want it to be buried with me, or if I get cremated I want my ashes put in it and the whole thing flung out the car window at speed.

teddybear
There's not a lot of meat on them, you want grey or red kangaroos, not too old.
Ohh noooo! I don't want their meat. scold
I am not a meat lover.. esp not red meat.
I just want to watch them playing, running, jumping, in my garden.
Nice pan, Pat! love

I have a 5-year-old saucepan similar to yours, but a bit stained with use. Sometimes I try to make apple compote but every time it turns into jam. The other recipes are just fine. I think my saucepan has something against apples. It has to destroy them mercilessly!
