Pc / Laptop / Tablet / CellPhone

We are in a New Technology world:
Just about everything is possible with communications across the world, being a millisecond away:

You are totally dependant on a bank card, and many more cards.
Money has just about landed in a museum...

To conform with everyone else we are getting more clever at technology by the second.
My mom refused to use these fancy things, but she did change her mind, as all have...

We all have different uses for our computers:
Work
Fun
Dating
Communications
you tell us more

Quite a lot of people don't use computers for work, and just personal use, which tends to then be a tablet / CellPh, as the rest is too bulky.

What do you expect in the future, what will happen to technology and the people attached to them?

Large, VERY large, anecdotes from the VIERK life....

Ya just have to notice things, then form hypotheses, and sometimes to experiment to test them, and thereby developed better theories. The scientific method, over rated, but still of merit. Now and again, usually when nature calls him, sorely delayed by my chasing the hotties here on CS, Bravo won't instantly devour one of the disgusting bone like treats I give him most mornings. Instead, he marches about the house, sneakily, Mr. R., looking for places to hide the treat. Mind you, hide from whom, as I'm the only other being here in the VIERK mansion, apart from the rare field mouse? Or reduvid bug. Why hide it from me, when the hiding places are never very cryptic, and I am the one who gave it to him? The main hypothesis is that what we see here is a minor retreat to former wild pack behaviors. Even though these may be thousands of generations old, and no longer of much value. If you get the first tasty bone from the kill, better make you and it scarce, especially if the big dog is nearby. But how to test this hypothesis? A theory, a theory, ..... my kingdom for a theory.

She must be shy though, as she didn't send a message.

Happiness is not a warm gun.

I sometimes encounter ex-students.
It seems that I made a good positive impact on them.
They always thank me and tell me how I've inspired them.
Many times what they say truly touches my heart.
Sometimes they went on to further education in the biological sciences
and sometimes they've become teachers, professors, nurses, doctors
or other related health or science fields.

I've also edited a number of biology, genetics and microbiology text books
and have signed copies of those books with notes of thanks stating how
I improved their books, making them much better.

While all very nice, it was due in part to my job at a major university.
I'm sure many of the other professors had similar experiences.

But tonight I received something totally different.
Nine years ago, I was out in nature taking photos of wildlife in the Princeton, NJ area.
A fairly young lovely blonde gal walked up to me and stated that she had been watching me for some time, and that I seemed to be a very happy person.

I smiled and said something like "life is a terrific experience, much better than the alternative, why not be happy ?"
She then asked, if it would be OK to interview me. So, she asked me a bunch of questions
(most I have forgotten at this point) about what especially makes me happy, happier, and happiest.
At the end, she asked for my email address in case she thought of any other questions.
If I remember correctly, she did email me about a month later.
However, I have heard nothing else from her for about 9 years.

Moments ago, I got an email from her. She wrote a book based on her 'art of happiness'
interviews and got it published.
Apparently, my interview is included in that book.

I just emailed her back to congratulate her on her book.

One truly never knows what happiness the new day will bring.
Cherish it, while you can. cheers

maybe...we asked for it

I suspect that everything that has ever happened to us...or has yet to happen to us...we have asked for it.

Through decisions we have made throughout our lives.....

these decisions have put us in certain situations/environments/places/relationships

if true, why?

....perhaps our destiny.

dunno wave Happy Saturday

the only exception I can think of....is our birth. But, as I have been informed, Buddhist would argue even that we have asked for

Maybe we need to be smart enough to understand the full extent of our decisions. dunno

The RAZR is back!

Last week it was a leaked rumor. This week it's been confirmed. Motorola is bringing back the legendary RAZR flip-phone. Introduced in 2004, the RAZR was such a hot item that Motorola sold more than 130 million units in 4 years making it the best-selling clamshell phone in the world.
Eventually sales slumped as touchscreen phones became popular and Samsung took the market lead. In 2011 Motorola resurrected the RAZR until 2013.
On November 14, 2019 Motorola released details that an Android based RAZR will be released for 2020 exclusively through Verizon Wireless at a price of $1,500.

I don't have a crystal ball, but I'll make a prediction that the initial review will be slower than expected. Those who have service with other providers won't be willing to jump ship and there will be a market for cracked/unlocked phones, but I suspect at $1,500 you can buy a flagship Samsung S10+ and have enough money left over for 65" Samsung 4K UHD TV.

Motorola may have priced themselves out of the market.

PHOBIAS, dear people, PHOBIAS...

Two things about them for sure. They are real, and they have the weirdest names. Two of my worst are Gamphobia and Gynophobia. But I digress, all you lovely CS ladies. How real? Almost doubling of heart and breathing rates, profuse sweating, tremors unstoppable, desire to flee---but often frozen in place. And even changes in vision and hearing, not to mention memories for the fearsome event. Often the dreaded object is (usually) completely harmless. Watch someone very arthritic, normally unable to get up onto a chair, be right up there almost instantly, on seeing a little mouse, if not bolting clear out of the house, screaming. And if not treated successfully, they often can put real limits on work or other important aspects of life. If you are affraid to use elevators, forget that dream job on the 50th floor. Oddly enough, this one, very common, has no special psychological name---just referred to as claustrophobia, or acrophobia, and other names. And the range of treatments sometimes themselves can bring on a chuckle. Some phobias even seem innate to humans and some animals, occurring almost from birth or early age. Formidable.

thankfully it's only cabinet doors...

My associate is struggling to satisfy a client who rejected some doors with hairline cracks in the joints. Today, he didn't give him grief on a large door that was damaged in shipping. We'll replace the door, it's the abusive complaint that isn't necessary.
Some connection to the client in the medical field said a diabetic patient went for surgery to have a leg amputated.
They cut off the wrong leg.
It makes the crack in the door issue became less significant.

Pelosi states that Trump admitted Bribery

Today in US News & World Report;

The main complaint by the Republicans is that the evidence presented so far includes hearsay.
An aide for Taylor overheard a conversation of Trump's.
Don't be surprised, if that person who overheard Trump's conversation is called as a witness later.
That certainly doesn't prevent Republicans from coming up with more of their more ridiculous objections. However, together with testimony from the Roger Stone trial, it sure looks like Trump is burnt toast. Impeach !
