Got Milk?

Got Milk? was part of a 1993 American advertising campaign to encourage the consumption of milk. It worked as many American adults consume milk. However, many non-Americans say that only babies and young children should be drinking milk.

I drink milk. Not every day... When I do, it's usually Organic 2% or Lactose free 2% and recently a grass fed variety. In my refrigerator are other milk substitutes, Soy Milk, Almond Milk and a new favorite: Oat Milk. The drawback to the oat milk is it's high caloric content. Something like 130 calories per serving, where Soy Milk is around 30 calories.

"Got Milk" ads were retired many years ago:

Hummus...

I often buy Hummus when it's on a BOGO sale. That's Buy One, Get One aka (also known as) two for one. 2F1 or a 2fer sale.

Hummus Ingredients: Chickpeas aka Garbanzo beans.
Lots of the brands have different spices added including many with Tahini.

I didn't know what Tahini was so I looked it up.
Tahini is ground Sesame seeds. Actually, it's Sesame and oil.

I'm afraid to ask what oil they use in Tahini as I rudely found that vegetable oil doesn't come from a vegetable, it comes from Soybeans and Soybeans are Legumes... technically classified as a group of plants whose seeds grow in enclosed pods, like peas and peanuts.

So now, I'm buying containers filled with a mixture of alternate names that is high in fat, carbohydrates with protein... and (get this) is considered healthy!

Depending on the brand, it's $5 for a 10 ounce cup.

There's a lot of dough in PIZZA...

When I commuted from Miami, I was in the car at least one hour every morning usually listening to the local Classic Rock station. The announcer is friends with the owner of a famous coal fired pizza establishment that has several stores in South Florida.
From time-to-time they would talk about pizza... ingredients, method of cooking and cost of the raw materials that went into the making of pizza. According to what they were saying, surprisingly a 16" cheese pizza had only a few dollars of materials (dough, cheese, tomato sauce) in the making and sells for around $15. Adding a few toppings could drive the price to $20.
I grew up a few blocks away from two of the best pizza parlors in Miami and a bit picky to the style of my favorite. Thin crust.
Now, I'm 40 miles north of my old location and surrounded by a few 'corporate' style Italian restaurants. For the most part, pizza here is lacking. There is one place a few miles away that does the same style as I had in Miami and for a few years did a Monday special 18" thin crust pizza for $10. Times change and after their COVID shutdown the price went up to $12. Understandable and I consider it a deal.

Looking for the perfect pizza had me experimenting with homemade pizza. All of my tries were done in a small electric toaster oven, probably less that $30.

Today, I saw an article about the best pizza ovens for home use. The cheapest was $50 and the most expensive being $1,500. I'm disappointed as the $1,500 model only does a 12" pizza!

All I can say right now is... forgettaboutit

See Food... my new diet plan!

When you order food at a restaurant, they bring a plate and unless it's an all you can eat, that plate of food 'is' your meal. Eat the food and you're done.
Dinner at my house usually has selections with enough food for 3 meals.
I'm taking issue with that... because... I have the ability to eat and eat and eat with no restraint.
For this holiday season, I'm asking not to be on a 'see food' diet.
Take the surplus food away and I'll only eat what's on my plate, nothing more.

wastefulness

I was shocked to read on the second page of Wall Street Today to find that for:

"every American about 429 pounds of food was wasted in 2010"

Now this is terrible. United Nations reported that about 87 percent of the world live in poverty, devastation and hunger and the first and second world are so wasteful.

I have personally taught my children not to be joining this bad habit of being insensitive to wasting food.

Different regions in india are recognized by their specific type of recipes. And important to mention these dishes are only for those who are having huge taste buds. And not for those who are habitual of having only and only boiled vegs..........(ohhh..Indian food.--so pungent ..so....spicy.) people using these kind of quote are ignorant and uneducated in chemistry of spices. For which whole world dependend on india for centuries........................

Too Much Bacon

Yes its true, you can have too much of a good thing. I had some bacon last night before going to bed and I may have over done it. Been awake half the morning with the worst kind of stomach. Maybe I'm just getting old.
