From a strategically planted garden of merely 400 sq feet...

...only about 20 meters square. Some vertical places. When "put up", (Mainesse for 'canned and frozen'), there's stuff for much of winter. If a such a declared fool can do so, anyone can. But what of the many thousands of hectares here at the Vierk Gnome Mansion? So glad we built the spacious servants' quarters. They don't mind weeding.
And Mr. Bravo, merely looking out the window, seems to keep those pesky deer away. Another day in Paradise. Those vine fresh tomats, oh those fruits of the vine. How different from the cardboard ones usually bought at the big boxes.

Biltong - will u eat it ?

In S.A. we make a delicacy, called Biltong:-

My dad, and granddad would use mainly beef strips from the back around the spine, cut into around 30cm x 8cm strips.

These strips then get marinaded in ur own special recipe, which varies from person to person, for a while.

U then put a hook at the one end of strip of marinated raw beef meat, and hang it up in a well ventilated room, up high.

Now depending on ur taste, these strips are taken down at varying degrees of dryness (it shrinks during the drying process) and cut up as u like, with a special tool and eaten.

It has a rubbery tangy texture, depending on the marinade used.

Will u eat it?

Odd Food Combos

What foods do you mix together that you love but other people think it's terrible? For me it's chicken and chocolate pudding. It happened about a month ago when I was eating a TV dinner and my piece of chicken fell off my fork into the pudding dessert. I said oh well and ate it. It was great!

Bacon Jam

I never really knew what it was meant to be a foodie, rarely heard it when I was working but retiring changed the game. Until Mic mentioned one of my foodie blogs did I realize I was a foodie, a small shock to the system but now I brag about it. What I don't mention is a I'm a lousy foodie but I love it anyways.

Since retirement I've experimented on many new recipes and unknown foods to me. My most recent find is BACON JAM. When I learned to make candied pecans it was like a crack addiction to me so I have to exercise discipline, it's harsh but I do it.

Bacon Jam is like a crack addiction on steroids. I'm not going into anymore detail, google or better yet you tube it for recipes or info (I only look at healthy ones)

For Mic's sake and all his pizza talk I gave in last night and made a cauliflower crust, loaded the toppings I love and shocked myself at how tasty it was. I might try and make that again next year or if I make another I am going to use sliced tomatoes instead of the sauce with fresh mozzarella glopped on. Oh Mic my San Marzano plants are showing off their little babies, so far so good. The cherry tomatoe from 3rd generation of growing itself yielded a nice yield then died.

Cheese sauce has been my nemisis - Twice I tried a recipe using Sodium Citrate. In the video the sauce comes out smooth like a pouring nacho cheese sauce. Mine comes out in a glump, a tasty glump mind you but extremely unappealing visually. I stuffed a glop inside a burger and it was delish! I'm not touching that Sodium Citrate again.

That's it folks - Bacon Jam is my new thing and it spicy hot so quite a few friends can't handle it but my bro will kiss my a** for some.

It ain't sushi anymore...

One of the best Sushi restaurants in Boca Raton closed their doors at the beginning of COVID. They had 3 locations (West Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton) and only the Fort Lauderdale store is still open for business.

Many of my coworkers used to go there for lunch on Friday and always the food was fresh. It's was a buffet style all-you-can-eat lunch or dinner with a grill. The selections for dinner were more, like steamed crab legs and baked salmon, but the price was justifiably higher.

I knew some of the waitresses had scattered to different businesses, many were unrelated to food service. There is another sushi restaurant in East Boca Raton that I go to now that gets so busy you have to leave your name with the greeter and they would call you when a table was available. Always a wait, often 20 to 30 minutes. Much higher prices nowadays but an awesome selection. One waitress from the other place relocated there and it's nice when she's my server.

Plans are to go there tomorrow in the afternoon after the lunch crowd dissipates and before they close to setup for dinner. I'll skip lunch and dinner tomorrow knowing the one meal could be 10,000 calories!
Okay, I'm exaggerating, it's more like 5,000 calories.

Last night, I passed the old sushi place and the building had been repainted, new lighting and the parking lot was re-striped. The sign on the front read: CURALEAF
I Googled the name to find they are a Marijuana Dispensary.

It ain't sushi anymore...
