Burger Kings impossible

Wondering soy burgers had been around for many decades as I recall them flavored like beef not bad long ago yet the fast food places act like it's a modern day miracle

what type of tea do you drink?

Growing up here in the states Coffee was always the norm in my home it still is but we also had what they call sweet tea in the south basically it is black tea with enough sugar to give you diabetes now that I am older and have traveled I have been trying new teas and I have to say my favorite so far is Russian Smoked black very full body tea with a nice smokey aftertaste but I only put raw sugar (unrefined) or honey in it but I also enjoy a good herbal tea as well what do you all find appealing in a tea?

Rice Pudding

I haven’t had home made rice pudding since I was a child, but that’s about to change. I have got one in the oven as I write. My excitement is growing as tangibly as the skin that is forming on the surface of my pudding. I just wish I had a pair of short trousers to wear when I eat it; that would really add the authentic touch to my trip back in time to those carefree childhood days.

They say that real men don’t eat rice pudding. Well I say be damned with being a real man, and give me the pudding.

I’ll report back later, providing I am not served other deserts in the meantime.

I am so thirsty

Water, water everywhere but not a drop to drink.

We have many different options for our drinking water, but they are not all healthy!

Tap water.
Bottled water.
Deionized water.

What do you prefer?

The Shape of Fennel

So here I am preparing my chlorophyll alkaline soup for the week, when I get to the fennel. It's time to wash, chop, & juice.

I wasn't thinking anything in particular as I snipped the tendrils off. However, just as I was about to cut into the actual bulb, the shape of it struck me as odd.

It reminds me of the little Hand of Fatima charms that I have. So I had to snap a quickie pic, before butchering it.

Frozen Tofu...

I try to get to the Asian Market in Miami twice a month as they have products not found in the local markets. Tofu, for example comes in larger bricks and less expensive than anything in my neighborhood.
It was on sales and we got a few packages. If you have read my previous comments, I dislike Tofu. It has to be cooked with other foods or I will avoid it entirely.
Since we had so much, one package was stored in the freezer and when it was time to use it, thawed and drained. Also, it's a good idea to actually rinse it before cooking.
Here's what I have found. After freezing, the Tofu becomes spongy. When it's cooked with other foods, it readily absorbs the flavor of the other foods.
Sunday, it was Tofu with steak and mushrooms. If I didn't already know, I wouldn't have guessed it was Tofu and the flavor and texture changed. No more thinking Plaster of Paris was added to the recipe!

Sodium Chloride... and other things

It was raining Saturday morning and my plans to get to Miami were delayed. On the way down we stopped in Hollywood to run an important errand and ate lunch at a sandwich shop before heading to Miami. The tuna sub was awful...

After a few hours of painting, I suggested visiting the local buffet for the take out for dinner. We continued painting (I was patching holes and cracks with plaster ahead of the paint) but I needed some trim moulding and went to Home Depot for more supplies before they closed.

By the time I returned it was after 9pm, my hands and feet were swollen... obviously something in the food I ate. All you can eat buffets are notorious for lacing food with salt MSG.

The sun is out, I'm charging batteries and plan to catch a few model helicopter flights before getting back into the painting mode.

I got up early, looked in the mirror and see my face is swollen... kinda like Alec Baldwin.
If it's not better when I get back, I'll have to take some hydrochlorothiazide.

Why are steakhouse meals so big?

I'm eating on company expenses so decided to push the boat out and have a mixed grill and a pud yum

No chance. I couldn't even finish my grill, .if I bent forward right now food would shoot out my ears.

I'm a tall woman with a healthy appetite but it defeated me

Isn't there some happy medium between giant meals and dainty nouvelle cuisine?
