Cars

Wouldn't you know it. Just the other day I was thinking that I've never had a flat tire on my car.
What a fool.
So I discover I have this flat tire, and I try to drive the old truck only to discover that the new fuel line I put in last year has disintegrated and gas is leaking all over the engine. So I go to fix the flat (15 minutes, right?) and of course the wheel nut were put on by Superman on his day off. 45 minutes later dripping sweat and covered in dirt the wheel nuts are off, but I discover the alloy rim that seemed so cool at the time is stick to the car like it's been welded on. Anyway, an hour later I'm done, and I go into the house, rummage around in the pantry until I find an old bottle of high fructose corn syrup, and I CHUG it. drinking

Have a nice day. smile

Merge Lane...

I have an issue with aggressive drivers using a merge lane. Yesterday, must have been aggressive driver Tuesday. In the morning on the way to an appointment, driving in a construction zone I was approaching a merge lane where two lanes merge into one.
There were lots of warning signs, traffic cones and plastic guard rails in a 30mph zone. Having passed this road several times before, I was already in the main lane and not the merge lane. Traffic was slow, but 2 drivers in Tesla's had to force their way into the merge pushing out other cars that 'gave-way' or be involved in an accident.
Usually, it's someone in a BMW doing a stunt like that.
I worked for a guy who had a truck with oversized bumpers and jacked-up tires. He always pushed into a traffic situation that forced the other drivers to stop, letting him in, especially when he tooted a horn as loud a train.
Last night was a close call. I'm on the interstate highway in the left lane that opens to the express lane. It's after 9pm and traffic is moving smoothy. There is a merge lane for people exiting the express lane that feeds back into my lane. Unexpectedly, someone shot out of the express lane and attempting to eclipse me. It happened quickly as I didn't see him accelerating. The warning light came on my mirror but there wasn't enough room for 2 cars. I shifted to the right as a white BMW passed me within inches of side swiping my car!
I like my car and though I'm shopping for a new one, I'd like the purchase to be by choice and not because my car was trashed by an aggressive driver in the merge lane.

Indian products versus foreign products.

Hello friends,
No India made product can be compared to a product from Japan, U.K. USA, Switzerland, because of its quality of functionality, usefulness and long lasting qualities. Raw materials used in a foreign product are better, technology used is better and functionality world class.Indian product is like a beggar, beginning a begging culture of recolonization, appreciation and looks.
A foreign product looks beautiful, works flawlessly and lasts a lifetime. To top the list is the marketability of the product, it is done by ads. in TVs, hoardings and free gifting to its users.
A mess has been created in the automobile market, especially in Electric Vehicles (EV), giving a tough competition to US based Tesla Electric vehicles in terms of price. Some Indian companies like Tata has come out with an electric vehicle priced below 10 lakhs rupees. But Tata is wrong as well as right. In India, price is everything in life. It may be a loaf of bread or an expensive Diamond from a Jeweler. Tata has to think on another point and that is manufacturing. A foreign car is better manufactured than an Indian car.You cannot compare a Fiat car with a German Mercerize Benz.
So watch out for the foreign products in Indian market.

It's been a week...

It's been a week and I've lots more to do.
The car has more than 1,000 miles on it... not new now. Synthetic oil is standard and rated for 10,000 miles between changes. I'll get my first oil change next week and most likely change every 5,000 miles.

Four more years, four more years...
I caught pieces of both conventions and while I turned down the sound on Trump, I did read some of his captions. I lost count of the partly true or completely untrue statements. What I think doesn't count. It's what happens on election day... or in the case of mail-in, what the tally of the votes are.

Saturday and I'm headed to the showroom. Not my favorite duty but I'm up this weekend.

More reading on the car manual as time permits, I'm part-way through some switches and buttons. There's a switch for sport mode and the speedometer changes color to red. I need to verify if I can change the mode when the car is moving.

'My Soul, My Car, And The Road'

When the three connect I'm suddenly in that 'poetic' land of 'never stop' where my imagination runs as long as the magical asphalt that lies ahead of me! Just throw in some of my favorite tunes and I'm transported into a sort of parallel world in which every little thing is alright. Then suddenly I'm 'hurled' back into reality by my first traffic jam, all told I guess you might say that I'm a 'Corvette' kinda guy.

Feeling the past

I've been experiencing the feeling of the past. I can't identify the moment except that it is a good feeling. It's like the air is alive. I smell scents of the outside, this old home's bones breathing. I remember first coming to PA with so many hopes and dreams. I thought I had found my partner for life.

I don't have sad feelings. I put on a pair of shorts and a tank top, triggering days outside camping or kayaking. I can feel the wet sand under my feet. I imagine taking my kayak and placing it on the water. The coffee pot on the stove triggers memories of the first cup, in the woods of a campground in New Jersey. Our tent collecting insects and inchworms. I remember laying in the sleeping bag, watching the slow movement of an upsidedown worm traveling on the roof, silhouetted by the sunlight behind the nylon.

Not all triggers are bad.

the holiday gas price gouge...

Gas prices in Florida have been fluctuating 5 +/- cents as a normal. They went down toward the end of June and shot up 21 cents on the first of July.
That could be the most significant change I've seen in a while. If I recall correctly, it was after a hurricane where flooding knocked out some refineries along the Gulf coast and gas prices jumped.
Depending on the neighborhood, we are around $2.75 to $3.00 a gallon.
