How close am I to getting my own apartment?

My current living situation is this: In a house with 8 other people.. Well, 6, now that 2 have moved out, but usually, we're 9 people in this house. For the past three years or so, I have been wanting my own place, so I signed up for a few housing companies, to register my interest in a 1- or 2 bedroom apartment. I would like a place that's not too far from where I work.

On the housing companies websites, you can see your place in the queue, when the last bill was paid and when the next bill is due. Payment is yearly, and the amount is 165 dkk, or about $24. I can sign up for pretty much any apartment complex in their catalogue, but I have picked six complexes, that I would like an apartment in.

So, how far away am I from getting an apartment? Let's break it down, shall we? Four of the complexes are where I have lived before, so I know the areas well. One of them is my childhood complex. I am number 970 on the list, down three places since yesterday. Not a bad start.

The next complex is where my mother moved to, after her and my father divorced. This particular complex is split into 2 different "divisions", so to speak. In the first division, I am number 628 in line for a 1 bedroom apartment, and 1096 for a 2 bedroom apartment. In the second division, I am number 529 in line for a 1 bedroom apartment, and 925 for a 2 bedroom apartment.

Up next, this is where my mother and now-deceased stepfather moved, after they wanted a garden. There are two types of apartments there: Row of flats and apartment buildings. The row of flats has a garden, while the apartment buildings doesn't. I am number 1137 at both places.

The next complex is where my mother, brother and aunt live. Fantastic apartments, close to pretty much everything. I am number 542 in line for a 1 bedroom apartment, while I am number 828 in line for a 2 bedroom apartment.

The final complex is one I haven't lived in, but I once had a friend who lived there. I am number 539 in line for an apartment there.

So to answer the question I called my blog: How long until I'm getting my own apartment? Quite a while. The first complex I mentioned, the average waiting time - average - is about 30 years, since it's extremely popular with families, because of a primary school that was located on the other side of the bike path. That school burned to the ground back in 2019, so maybe people are moving out and are finding a place closer to a school. Before the school burned down, three primary schools existed within a fifteen minute drive.

I did the math - if I continue to move down three places on the list every day, in 323 days I will be offered an apartment there. IF that happens - and it's a VERY big if - I will say yes immediately! It's where I grew up, and my other aunt and uncle live in that complex, so it would definitely be a great thing if it happened. There's a Lidl close by, so grocery shopping would literally be a 10 minute walk away.

But - I am not expecting anything to happen for at least a few years. The thing about waiting lists, is that everything can change from one day to the next. Tomorrow, I could be number 2500.. We'll see when I get offered a place to live in either of the complexes I have listed above. I will keep you posted!

Be my Valentine

Be my Valentine, for I
Each day have thought of you.
My whole life couldn't manage what
Your ready smile can do,
Vanquishing my loneliness
As though all light were new.
Let me be your Valentine
Even as you're mine,
Needing what I have to give
That each might each define
In friendship and in harmony,
Now you, now I the melody,
Each helping each to shine.

Global warming, the inconvenient truth

Al Gore and his predictions. Did it happen?

Global warming. Polar ice melting.

Save the environment.

He claimed that by now the earth would have been underwater.

Wow, he said: BY NOW THE TEMPERATURE WOULD'VE BEEN UNBEARABLE. Is it?

Wow, he gave us the worst propaganda ever.

He's a demonrat by the way

Note: I'm not arguing with the fact that the climate is changing, nor would I argue that it is 4 billion years old. Science do claim, it will also going to perish or die. When? There's no time frame (yet).

America is great, is there any place better?

For me, Switzerland is the only place I can think of. Opportunity, economic, social and health services considered.

So many people were wondering what makes America great and I think this information will give a good answer.

Having said that, I am sure there's more personal thoughts or ideas that wouldn't necessarily be reflected on this article.

Feel free to share what makes you think our one and only US Of A is great (or not). I know that it is the most sought country in the world or we'd have no illegal immigration problems.

"The United States is a highly developed country, and its economy accounts for approximately a quarter of global GDP and is the world's largest by GDP at market exchange rates. By value, the United States is the world's largest importer and second-largest exporter of goods. Although its population is only 4.2% of the world's total, it holds over 30% of the total wealth in the world, the largest share held by any country. Making up more than a third of global military spending, the United States is the foremost military power in the world and a leading political, cultural, and scientific force."

From Wiki.

If you value freedom, you'd better like America.

The humans are fading out.

I am a baby boomer. After WW2, things were looking up. Men came home and made babies. Even before, farmers made babies. LOTS of babies. There was work to be done and lots of children helped keep farms running as well as family businesses.
Then Japan and China got the idea they would run out of room. Lots of kids became frowned on. Even other countries thought people should not have so many kids. China clamped down..one baby per family only. And since boys were to provide for parents, baby girls managed to die before or at birth. Now whole villages in the hinterland are filled with young men and no women to marry.
In developed countries the average age is going higher every year. Young people are saying to heck with marriage and kids. Women figured out they dont have to be brood sows. Plus the young look at todays world and no way they wish to bring a child into it. What future will they have.
Southern countries seem to still be in the past and breed like mad. Part of the reason is so many babies and young kids die. So the thinking is one needs many so some might survive to provide for parents. And with lack of education, NGO's can't get it in their head if they have a couple, they can feed them. And get medical care. And they WILL live.
Now the world is shuffling. Those over populated countries are heading north. And some governments are welcoming them because laborers are needed to care for and provide for the elders who are over whelming the system. I read a democracy needs a slave labor force to exist.
Will the refuges and illegals meld into the north countries? Or will they see them as a free ride to use? Will they assimilate, or bring the crime, misogyny, gangs and lack of education and bring down the northern countries. Or in some, end up AS slaves.dunno

Fall heading in.

Despite 95 heat waves, it now feels more seasonal. Which means winter is aiming at me. I have been picking up acorns. Lots. That makes me nervous because that can mean a hard winter. Although the summer drought may have panicked the oaks too. I see two massive white pines that died.confused Can a tree that old and big die of drought?
Now is wood cutting. Guys will be out at the log pile tomorrow so I guess I can go and run the splitter handle. It helps and I don't have to worry if I can through chunks.
I figured I was safe..nope...more kittens. ARGH! Gator had 3. Blanket had 4. I collected them and put them on a box on the loggia. And then had to get 3 back again. Idiots! That spot will get rains! You would think by this time, cats know the difference between covered and not!
3 kittens of Gator are white with grey or calico spots. And fluff balls. Why cant they stay cute little fluffs instead of growing up into farm cats? Blanket had one grey and 3 blacks, more so tuxedos. Now where did that come from. My toms are white with tan and a beige. BUT! A stray showed up. A tuxedo who is the sweetest cat I have now. Checked the junk..hmm..hairy cat..female? Neutered male? Yes? No?dunno I am not getting that personal. Now my biggest tom, Trey is a male beyond any doubt. When he walks in front of you it is ba boom, ba boom, ba boom. Yep..that's a set of grin
Now the question is..where did the black kittens come from when my cats are all white, tans. Is Tuck holding out? If does he have secret? Maybe the neutering was not complete? I tried to see again and can't notice anything prominent.
Anyway, I plan to keep one or two of the black kittens. I am so tired of white cats. Each gen gets more white. And I wear BLACK all the time!crying

In the year 2525.

Remember the song? To ad-lib it. Cash is no more. All exchanges are done via apps, chips, etc. Bank are far and few between, mostly on line and only to lend money.
Your income is added to your on-line account. All debts come out of it. You must have a smart phone. The governments have the right to access your account at will. They watch where you shop, what you buy and all you do. Even at the rummage sale.
Some people sneak around and use barter. But, the sheep say they like the convenience. Until they dispute something societal or governmental. Then their account is frozen. Need food..too bad. No money for you sucker.crying
Sometimes the "banks" run into a glitch. You check your account and it shows zero!wow You go on line and question. Chase the menu. Finally, oh..we will check and get back to you in 5 business days.help
Do not get a speeding ticket. It will be paid on scene or your account is frozen. Try a protest..same thing.
Well, you say, I can control where and what my kids buy. Yep..and so can big brother control you.
1984 was not a novel..it was a warning.very mad

Marilyn Monroe....

Marilyn Monroe’s Former Home Temporarily Saved from Demolition After Permits Were Issued Last Week.

The Hollywood icon only ever independently owned one home, where she lived and died at the age of 36 in 1962.

On Friday, Sept. 8, the L.A. City Council voted to save late actress Marilyn Monroe’s Brentwood home from demolition—for now.

Monroe purchased the 2,624-square-foot hacienda for $77,500, shortly after parting ways with her ex-husband, playwright Arthur Miller, in February 1962.

That property, which is still standing in Los Angeles’ star-studded neighborhood of Brentwood, was facing the possibility of destruction after the Department of Building and Safety issued a demolition permit to its current owner, Glory of the Snow Trust on Tuesday, Sept. 5.

BC versus AC...

If you bought products made after COVID, did you notice the quality was less than what they were before COVID? It's across the board and I'll start with paper towels. I used to think the thinnest napkins and paper towels could be found in Chinese restaurants. Not so anymore. The towels in dispenser at the highway service plaza are so thin now, they melt in your wet hands as you pull them. It takes a few extra towels to dry your hands.

Paper cups from Publix market... I've been using them for years and after COVID the cups were leaking right near the bottom. It took a few months before they corrected the quality control. Now, the cups don't leak but the price went from $2.00 packs and are $4.50

Scorpion brand was one company popular for making model aircraft Electronic Speed Controls (ESC's) but they had a failure rate more than 50% after COVID. They will replace a defective unit under warrantee, but the cost of repairing a crashed model helicopter (or airplane) isn't covered. Many of us switched to other (more expensive) brands with assurance of less failures.

I'm sure lots of cars manufactured right after COVID are having a higher rate of defects.
That said, maybe it's important to confirm the manufactured date of the products you are buying to be before COVID (BC) or after COVID (AC)
