Albertaghost: Israel is protected by a civilian military thus, if you are going to have long term security in these territories, you have to have the soldiers living close to it thus, the most expedient way is to have their families and day jobs there as well.

Israel, with population of five million can field a million men in hours using this method.
Slowlly but surely this 20% initially given to the Jewish prople, for security reasons claimed by Israel, will be reversed to 80% for neocolonial Israeli's and 20% for the native Arabs.Greatrolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing rolling on the floor laughing

United Nations General Assembly Resolution 194From Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaJump to: navigation, search
1948 Palestinian exodus

United Nations General Assembly Resolution 194 was passed on December 11, 1948, near the end of the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The resolution expresses appreciation for the efforts of UN Envoy Folke Bernadotte after his assassination by members of the militant Zionist Lehi group, headed by Yitzhak Shamir. Resolution 194 deals with the situation in the region after Israel expelled the majority of the Palestinian population from areas which it controlled and the minority Jewish population had been similarly expelled by the Arab Legion from their homes in Jerusalem's Old City and in the West Bank. The resolution called for the return of refugees to their homes and defined the role of the U.N. United Nations Conciliation Commission as an organization to facilitate peace in the region.

The resolution was adopted by a majority of 35 countries from among the 58 members of the United Nations at that time; however all six Arab countries then represented at the UN voted against it (Egypt, Iraq, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Syria and Yemen, all were parties to the conflict in question). Israel was not admitted to the UN yet.

The resolution consists of 15 articles, the most quoted of which are:

Article 7: protection and free access to the Holy Places
Article 8: demilitarization and UN control over Jerusalem
Article 9: free access to Jerusalem
Article 11: calls for the return of refugees

I just spoke of the British legitimacy in relation to the "right of resistance" (also defined by UN) exerted by the Zionists against those who denied the "right of return", but if you prefer to consider them also they were really terrorists. I will not argue.

I wish I could add to this thread, I read some things and I surely have no way to see what is going on and I wish I did,,only because I wish the world could one day be a place where all people could live without fear and hate. I will probably keep listening and watching what is happening.
As far as the opening which is quoted below. In itself I don't see why a country should not have a chance to live in peace. I also know that in this world we seem to live in people,,many people do not always get along. I pray one day I live to see a happier world.

In response to: So I have been on CS for exactly one year and time and time again I have seen threads started vilifying (to put it mildly) the State of Israel.

It is very rare a thread supporting Israel is started, so I thought this would be a good idea to start one.
ISRAEL HAS EVERY LEGAL RIGHT TO EXIST IN PEACE AND SECURITY WITHOUT THREATS FROM HER NEIGHBOURS, AND ISRAEL IS HERE TO STAY, WON'T GO AWAY AND MORE AND MORE JEWS ARE SETTLING THERE. ISRAEL HAS NO ANIMOSITY WITH PEOPLE WHO ABIDE BY THE RULES OF COMMON DECENCY AND LAWS.

GUZMAN1: Yes, maps of different ages only reflect different situations, impossible to extrapolate to the people of today. Do you know how many people thinks Alexander The Great is his National Hero in the zone of Greece, the Balkans and Turkey? The past, maps and people....impossible fix concepts with this.
Do you know what word use the arabs to define the Europeans? Rumi.
It means "Romans" and include the Turks, even the Anatolian Turks!!! The word is ancient, started to use before someone drew a divided line between Asia and Europe.
Greeks don't THINK Alexander The Great as their National Hero, IS our National Hero.If other appreciate his contribution to their colture, they are most welcome.

Certainly individuals who were not a common people did and some remained in Israel after 1948, some sold their land to Jews buying land in blocks, some were only resident farmers working for other Arabs who sold the land to Jews buying those same blocks and others left under the direction of the Grand Mufti to return to a greater land without Jews. And of course, there are some who compose a small group who actually had a right to the land and are lost in this debate.
