Wow_Factor: So I have been on CS for exactly one year and time and time again I have seen threads started vilifying (to put it mildly) the State of Israel.
It is very rare a thread supporting Israel is started, so I thought this would be a good idea to start one.
ISRAEL HAS EVERY LEGAL RIGHT TO EXIST IN PEACE AND SECURITY WITHOUT THREATS FROM HER NEIGHBOURS, AND ISRAEL IS HERE TO STAY, WON'T GO AWAY AND MORE AND MORE JEWS ARE SETTLING THERE. ISRAEL HAS NO ANIMOSITY WITH PEOPLE WHO ABIDE BY THE RULES OF COMMON DECENCY AND LAWS.

Lol, I am not bothered about what people think, but I would like to know for a start what is wrong with settlement building. I started this thread to have some good conversations, and I hope we get some.

well remember we only go on what we see on tv or read in the papers,
not always evenly handed i know but
from what i understsnd you get a lot of people from over seas going to that area, plonking them selfs where ever they think is a good spot, taking advantage of the goverments policy of defending
jews or isreali ????? people no matter where they are, often displaceing people who already live there ??? or right in the middle of a town etc
on that issue maybe i would be throwing rocks at tham also,
i am not an expert on this issue, but sure sounds wrong to me,
can never give the golan back,
just to confuse it a bit,
not always evenly handed i know but

I am afraid you have got your facts totally wrong. The settlements are legal. Only a small percentage of the land is built on and the land of Judea and Samaria belongs to Israel. This explains it.

Every successful civilation in history has had to protect itself from jealous neighbors who, instead of planting crops chose to steal the food the growers worked for.
If Isreal's neighbors were to somehow remove Isreal, it would be back looking like a wasteland in a few short years. Isreal has flourished because they have evolved instead of still living in the dark ages.
If Isreal's neighbors laid down their weapons there would be no more war. If Isreal laid down their weapons, there would be no Isreal!!

I agree with your support of Israel. I don'y know why anyone would live in 90% of that country though because it is mostly desert or fast approaching desert as they continue to drain the sea of galilee and the dead sea to support irrigation for their expanded agricultural industry. Most of the Jordan river which I saw last year is down to nothing more than a trickling stream.
If you ask me the bedouins have the most interesting life style there.
