There are 2 natural spring water in that land that run water the whole year, we just need to do all the paper work form the Federal Agency in charge in order to get a permit for the use of them and then do some construction work to store the water and the pipes to conduct the water to homes and with another reservoir rain fed (big one) irrigate some land to produce the forage. There is another part of that proposal for the forests but still we have not settle with the components of it because a gov subsidy will be requested to do some water management there.

Last year i took a drive out west towards center of Australia, quite a long way out and one camp site i camped in was water hole supplied by the Great Artesian Basin, the water was warm/hot, splashed myself and called that a bath...the water in the Great Artesian Basin I think comes from PNG...few photos:

I just do not get what for the links for the water matter in Australia I do have enough with the Mexican equivalent.

Giving up meat it is beyond saving the planet it is a matter of respecting life yet an individual choice.
Now, about saving this planet, that is a complex matter.
This earth axe is shifted by earthquakes and volcanoes and we humans can do nothing about it.
The earth is an entity with an expiration date and the time will come.
Can humans prevent it? I do not think so.
Can humans get a plan B? that might be possible but exploring other worlds is needed.
