The inquiry after the Lakanan House tower block fire in 2009 where 6 people died took four years. The review of that inquiry which should include building regs and fire safety has yet to be published.
The last minister for housing who was sitting on it, lost his seat in the election and was swiftly given the position of chief of staff by Theresa May, meaning that despite being voted out by the public, he is now the prime minister's closest advisor.
Calls for this review to be published immediately have been met with refusal by the Conservative government.
Ima soo wondering how incriminating that review would be if it were made public, especially as there have been calls for those accountable for Grenfell to be tried for corporate manslaughter.
I hope there are Chemists on the investigation team. As soon as I read that the building was recently clad in Aluminum I knew the reason the fire burned with such intensity, You see, Aluminum burns at over 4,000 degrees f. It's like the building was wrapped with match heads. The white powder that the firemen saw falling from the building was Aluminum Oxide, a state the metal goes through as it burns. Aluminum is a lot like Magnesium when it burns. Sometimes when a race car crashes and burns the Mag wheels may ignite and there is no way to put in out until the wheel is reduced to a pile of white dust.
jac_the_gripper: Scotland Yard has launched a criminal inquiry.
I wonder if the shredders are working overtime at Downing St.
According to some lawyers , what is needed is a public inquest and not a public inquiry. At a public inquest members of the public can question those involved, and call expert witnesses. At a public enquiry, the government controls it , and the public can't question anyone.
I'm interested in their welfare, sharing the joys and burdens, hoping to move towards a fairer world.
This fire should not have happened. It wouldn't have happened if more people had been interested in people and moving towards a fairer world.
There are things to learn, things to change and we can only do that by learning and changing ourselves.
I can do that and you can do what you want. I don't have to seek a relationship because you choose to. You don't need to read, or contribute to this thread because I choose to.
Yes, I believe the government has opened a public inquiry and Scotland Yard a criminal one.
I think Corbyn has called for residents and those affected to have proper legal representation which apparently they didn't have after the Lakanan House fire. Perhaps he was saying that there should be a public inquest, rather than people having lawyers.
It's the very least that can be done. Having had control taken away from them in so many ways, on so many levels, further subjugation during the recovery phase is not acceptable.
I doubt they will get it though, unless the present government collapses.

Even your Queen mother said whilst England and "The Palace" getting bombed in her and his residence.
"I am glad we have been bombed. Now we can look the East End in the eye."
Then they walked among the destruction. That was through War!
Meanwhile your Prime Minister will acknowledge this tragic happening. Yet Not walk among the people, sight, share give talk!,
As much as it may be of an interest, I have unequivocal support, my friend., My dearest mummy was born in Plumstead, I have a good strength of my English within me.
sophiasummer: ok yay for her she needs to extend herself to the people.
We don't really know her here.
TM lost a lot of respect by refusing to meet the people, the Queen mother and Winston Churchill were continuously among the common people, giving them succour during the war. TM is after all the leader of the people, God help us if she's a wrong un, she is making so many mistakes.
