days of innocence

in the days of innocence
and the pure clear water pool
swimming where the morals
my border and my rule

young minds and hearts
live and growing free
games we children played
and all so innocently

only as one ventured out
to deeper pools and find
people and society
would influence my mind

swimming in those darker ponds
i should have not gone in
the preacher says the reason
it is because of sin

now i look for cleaner air
where blue the water falls
going back to innocence
i hear my concience call

innocence im coming home
from a place i dont fit in
think the preacher had it right
returning home again
