Bill,
Came to my door
Some weeks ago
And now
Is a regular visitor,
And if my husband
Ever found out
He’d probable
Blow his top,
I’ve tried to dump Bill
Many times
But Bill keeps
Coming back
On a regular bases,
My husband
Left for work this morning
And Bill
Sat on my bed,
But I
Have had enough
Cannot take no more
So I stabbed Bill
With my credit card
And paid that Bill in full.

About this poem:
A little humour, on a Sunday afternoon
Post Comment
I saw you,
Walking in the rain
Shrunken
Wrinkle and worn,
Hardly recognized your face
In that struggle to escape
Your distress
That cancerous disease,
I remember you waved
With the withering arm
Of your pale overcoat
Of organic flesh,
You were my brother,
My sister, my father, my mother,
A fierce courageous warrior
Who battled for life
For a thousand days,
But heroes
Seldom return
From war
Just ghost of friends
Family loved-ones
We remember,
With each passing year.

This poem is dedicated to my brother Thomas, and all those who lost their battle against cancer

In towns
And cities streets
On concrete slabs
And tarmac roads
They walk for hours
In worn-out boots
And shoes,
For scraps
And crumbs
A thousand hands
Reach-out
Beyond
Invisible lives,
And search
For solace
Inside a bottle
Or a can of beer,

About this poem:
Poverty in today’s world

No one can sail your
ship but you
No one has seen the
horizons that have graced
your eyes, nor have they
weighed your tears on
the stormy sea
Who has tasted the joy of
your heart when magic
smiles have kissed your
lips?
Who has clung to that broken
ship that has tested the strength
of your soul?
Sail on my love, sail on
Mend your sails and be strong
I have been called to comfort
you when sea billows roll
Cast your anchor on the island
of hope
There shall I stand on uncertain
shores
And I shall annoint your head
with oil.

A street lamp
Illuminates
An inhospitable bench,
Where lies a vagabond
In dirt encrusted clothes
Eyes drowning in the depths of sleep,
Beneath the stars
Beneath a blanket of newspapers
Strummed by the breeze
From a passing ambulance,
Sirens blare and swirling lights of blue
Flash, piercing the darkness,
Shadows surf across windows and walls
On dark trees against the dusk
Arousing the sporadic bark from distant dogs,
Passed, by dispassionate hearts in passing cars
A vagabond wakes with flinching eyes
Drench by streaming beads of heavy rain,
Distress arms gesture in despair
While raindrops dance on concrete pavements,
Languishes in a drunken haze
Blasphemous lips speak unheard
By those in tall towers of stone
Drift through sweet dreams,
And dry lips, drink a bottle lovingly stroked
On a bed of wet cardboard,
Holding the wine in a drowsy embrace
Forlorn weary eyes
Close out the sprinkling raindrops
And sleep.

About this poem:
Let us strive to help, and make the invisible “visible”

Let me be me so I
Can love all of you
I am light and easy
And so are my finger
Tips upon your face
Don't cage me with the
Sentiments of lesser
Mortals
Taste the electric fire that
My faith has lit within your
Soul
Come close, but not to close
For lion spirits consume weaker
Hearts
Tread lightly and I shall come to
You on a dry and desolate plain
I shall satisfy your passion in the
Wild of the night.

They
Are the bullies
In the home
The office
And workplace,
They are an artist
Seasoned
In manipulation
Deception
Scattering the seeds
Of dissent,
Playing mind games
For recreation
Obsessed
With the sound
Of their own voice,
With the skill
To wound with words
Said in jest
But fly as daggers,
They plant thoughts
Like grenades
Erupting
In explosive laughter,

Your love came to me
Like a warm summers
Breeze
In the fragrance of
Honeysuckle
You awakened my sleeping
Tears
My sorrow flowed into your
Love
You healed me with the breath
Of your mercy
You made me live again
You hold my souls breath on
The tip of your finger
And you have taught me that
I am not my own
I live because you have
Shown me your love.

I am a whisper in the breeze
I am a mote of dust blown by said wind
I am everything yet also nothing
I am a tree stretching for the sky
I am the cloud that momentarily hides the sun
I am the life giving morning dew
I am the shadow flitting past
I am the words that I write
I am the visions others see in them
I am the sweet smelling flowers
I am nothing yet everything
I am, I am just me, warts and all

About this poem:
I wrote this for a contest called "I am" where the judge did not want stories just a thumb sketch.

I do not bring the sword that has
Awakened you in fearful nights
But a message of love and hope
And a desire to prosper you
Your heart has sunken to the debths
Of despair, and in your spirit you are
Fallen as the eagle
Your life has been delivered to the
Hangman
Your execution is sure
The taste of life has fled you and the
Salt has lost it's savour
Autumn leaves fall blandly to the ground
And the desire for death is your only solace
But I bring forth things as though they were
Not
I topple nations without investigation
And in due season I shall set you on higher
Ground
Then you too.. shall become my messenger.
