Square Circles

Cornerless cubes descend perfect transitions...
Landing in perfect positions...
Geometrical-shapeshifter sick tragic visions...
In flawless conditions...

Rigid-bodied dynamics succeed...
Tipless triangles, lines in between...
Square circles...
Round rectangles...
Nothing is ever quite what it seems....

Diamond rose (about gossip)

Legend has it that in the back hills of a Virginia
county an eerily strange and beautiful black
rose grew amongst jagged rocks..
Further, it never grew in the same area twice yet
always concealed itself within the confines of
rocky terrain
The old timers would rock in their chairs of the
local country store and regale tales of a diamond
this strange rose would produce and whoever was
lucky enough to spot this rose would be privy to
the lustrous dimond nestled within its majestic
petals
It was a glorious campfire tale and the subject of
much poetry and native art
But there is much more to this story than a rare
flower yielding a precious gem
Mike Stone, a grocery store clerk always knew more
than he let on about the legendary rose claimed
some locals
Stones grandfather, a fur trapper, had claimed to be
in possession of the coveted diamond yielded by
the black rose but mysteriously dissappeared several
weeks later
The local law enforcement sent officers along
with the best bloodhounds in the county to scourer the
woods for Stones grandfather..Neither the officers nor
the bloodhounds were ever seen again..so they say
This only intensified the mystery of the Diamond Rose
The locals trudged through the hills in droves thinking
that the possession of this strange diamond would
yield them great riches
Newspaper articles and bar room fights only fueled
the frenzy
Suspicions as to who might be in possession of one
of these diamonds led to town riots with mobs carrying
torches and axes
Suddenly it dawned on the townsmen that Mike Stone
the local store clerk must have the true inside information
'Even his wife, shouted one of the mob sported a diamond
far to expensive for a local town girl '
'What store clerk could afford a diamond that big?
The mob surrounded Stones house with shotguns
and rocks demanding he come out and show them
the diamond
A trigger happy mobster shot Stones barking dog
and a torch was throw through a window burning
Stones house to the ground
When Stone refused to yield the diamond the mob
opened fire and along with his dog, Stone and his
wife lay dead in the dirt..
Weeks later the so-called mysterious Diamond Rose
was not so mysterious after all
Turns out that a delivery boy was taking artificial roses
that had plastic look alike diamonds pinned to their
pedals to be distributed as christmas gifts to the next
towns hospital
Several boxes had torn in his short cut through the
woods and the black fake roses were strewn throughout
the woods
The mystery was revealed
The townsmen had not been enriched by the fantasy of
some other worldly diamond promising untold riches
But by a death blacker that the Diamond Rose
A death called... gossip.

My poetry

On any given day you
Might be touched..
I stir my own ink in
A rusty old pan
A cocktail of ancient
Lore, mixed with the
Delusions of modernity
As I stir I tease the eternal
Verities to the surface of
This visionary stew
I fill my quill with this
Anomalous mixture
I roll out the parchment
That shall receive the
Indictments I inscribe
Upon it
I gather my thoughts
From the dungheap of fools
And from the wisdom of
Spirits held captive
And although my audience
May slumber between the
Pages of time
The clockwork of their
Dreams ever tick to
The final hour
On any given day
We shall awaken

Sometimes but Never !

Sometimes your life seem so indifferent,
Sometimes you feel it doesn't make a difference,
Sometimes you fail so many times without a reason,
Sometimes you stumble in darkness without a beacon.

Never make the same mistake again,
Never give up to avoid the pain,
Never quit and run away,
Nevermind what people say.

Intermission

It's time to run for popcorn
and soda
Before the plot begins
To thicken
This movie of your life
Is long
But the pace might
surely quicken
The heroes, the villians the
Cowards and saints
Are the actors on your
Stage
Should you hate the one
And love the other
Who play the fool
Or sage?
Will this saga that
Portrays your life end
With resounding victory
Or shall the villians who
played their part so well
Rejoice in your despair
And misery?
So take your seat and let
The movie roll on
And consider one chilling
Fact
That the choices you made
Through out your long
Weary life
Are choices you'll never
Take back.

I don't know

I don't know..
I wanna write about
Foggy days and ice cream
Sandwiches
I wanna write about the days
When I really laughed out loud
And the magic of funny was
Really funny
I wanna write..
There is a message in there
Somewhere
Somewhere..there is a me
Who knows what we are
Suppose to know?
Who sees what we are suppose
To see?
I don't know
I don't know
But we could go fishing and
drink the colors of life that
Flow from a stream
I have everything I need
Because I have seen you through
The eyes of my heart
Is that not enough?
Should I ask for more?
I don't know
I don't know.

Insomnia

Chasing
Slumber’s embrace
Around this mattress
This restless bed,
My tired eyes stare
Into the emptiness
Of nights darkness
As I twist and turn
With recollections
Of loved-ones
And friends
Tumbling
Through my thoughts,
If only I
In my attempts
Could ambush sleep
Beneath my pillow,
I’d hold it close
For hours
Inhaling
With deep breathes,
Filling up
My heavy head
With sleep
In the space
Between my thoughts

Sandals on the sand

Unbridled bodies
Embraced by sunlight’s cloak
Kick discarded burger bags
Baring gifts for seagulls
Skimming over rocks,

Over breaking waves
Rising in the swell
Beyond the boats and jet skis,
Where herring-gull nest
Against chiselled faced cliffs.

As parents rest sun drenched
On outstretched tartan blankets
And children scream and run
Bewitched by chime bellowing
Chip and ice-cream vans,

Sandals on the sand
Casting silhouettes
Over elegant sandcastles
Built by soft gentle hands
And grandparents.

The splash of raindrops

Walking in woodland
Beneath wet trees
A green summer-lace
Of entwined branches,
Leaves shrouded
In a splatter
Of raindrops
Collapsing
From leaf too life,
Strong vines stretch
For sunlight’s glare,
While footsteps crush
Wet grass
And delicate blossoms
Of wildflowers,
Enchanted
By the scent
Of vegetation
In the quiet
Stillness
After rain.

Love’s Scornful Eyes

Last week
At your concert
I was your biggest fan
But you sang to someone else,
And how I wish it had been me
Clenched in that passionate kiss
When you proclaimed undying love
And kissed your girlfriend’s lips,
Could you not see me in that sea
Of waving arms,
Could you not see my smile
Radiating brighter
Than those torches held aloft,
I was drunk
On the sound of your voice
Swaying to the rhythmical music,
I sang my heart-out hoping
You would hear my love’s song
And waited for those fleeting glances
That never came in my direction,
But no longer will your posters
Adorn my bedroom walls,
When all that remains
Is the smouldering stench
This radiant flame extinguished,
And these scornful eyes
That piercing like daggers
My love’s rival.
