Ice dancer

cold ice dancer
raspberry ripped
clean clean glass
muscle stripped

no passion spared
whirling storm
he held her high
strength and form

carving crystals
blade and steel
spotlight night
a show for real

judges gasp
audience hail
pinnacle display
they could not fail

About this poem:
Really enjoyed the ice dancing in Beijing, and those guys are strong holding up partners with one hand, even if they weigh only 50 kg its amazing to see. I'd struggle with 10kg over my head!!

That is what I paid a gallon for gas this morning
I figured I need a full tank to go to WI Dells
So I got three gallons to fill my tank
With my better gas mileage with my Chevy Cruze
I get about 34 miles to the gallon
My three cavaliers I had from 1994 to 2019 got about 25 mpg
So this trip will cost about 28 dollars in gas
Back in 2004 it would have cost about 12 bucks
How high will it go?
I drive 21.5 miles to work each way
I also put about 18,000 miles on my car each year
This year will be more as I'm taking a trip down to Texas thru Arkansas
If it goes to six bucks a gallon
It should take about 450 dollars
I seen a sticker on a pump on May 6 when the gas was 4.09
It has a picture of Joe Biden pointing
Below his pic it said "I DID THAT!"

Among the Battle Scene

No matter you're path you won't it to be stationary,
Surrounded by war without a place to call a sanctuary.
Gunfire and blood surround me on these once peaceful streets,
Where we hung out as we played beats with our feets.
They call me insane because I'm hoping for a peace,
Yet we have issues and wars seeping through the crease.
Our voices get mulled by the screams from all around,
Even as we have to bury the souls of the innocent into the ground

About this poem:
Whether you make a dollar or a billion we are 100% human. Most wars are caused by greed, fear, or power yet thousands of lives are lost due to wars. Does anyone see spoils from a victory? Or do we sacrifice lives for something the public sees no benefits. Why is war the first option? Why are we not able to see things from the others point of view?

Our Reflection

It can be the smallest bite to eat
Or the oldest shoes on our feet
We act as if thees things are nothing
Others would do anything for our waste
But thats something we choose not to face
Why cant we tell people the real story
A man can eat a burger and win a million dollars
But that same money can silence a thousand hollars
We need to decide to actually do something
A man is dying in the street and we step over him
If it was your family would you say screw them
This has got to be seen as a national emergency
If our people are hurt overseas we jump to war
Yet people die in our streets and we wont do more
Either we choose to find and fix the problem fast
Or this country we know and love will never last

Pres. Obama’s Shout-Out to the Critics

Nobody thought that a man name Barack Hussein Obama could win the general election.

With his extraordinary speeches, inspired people to get out and vote.

Reflecting on the past eight years, people wanted to make the right selection.

Scare tatics wasn’t going to provoke them to settle for the status quo boat.

Now, it’s only been over nine months, and critics already starting to fuss,

Arguing that he hasn’t save the whole world yet,

Lying, manipulating uninformed folks among us,

Griping why everything isn’t rescued overnight-

He never made a promise like that!

Protesting silly tea parties across the nation,

Complaining about Obama Care,

Don’t want to wake up and see the real reality they’re facing,

When all the president wants is for the insurance companies to be fair!

No matter what this man does, haters criticize it all.

They keep underestimating him,

Unaware of their inevitable fall.

The Party of No action is growing dim.

If they wasn’t protesting eight years ago, why are they doing it now!?

When Bush drugged the country to the gutter, No complaints, No howls.

Is it because the new guy is different-so they’re calling foul?

Where were they? No credibility then, so no credibility now!

These same folks cheered when the USA lost the chance to host the Olympics.

And they want to b*tch about a Nobel Peace Prize, that’s got nothing to do with them.

An ironic twist that was all over the media, which resulted in a sore loser epic.

Mad because it wasn’t given to them, that’s why they care.

If there ever was a movie titled, “In the Life of a hater,”

Maybe they should take the starring role,

Better realize, their opinions will be irrelevant sooner or later.

Obama might can give them his reelection win-

which would be the best revenge served cold!

About this poem:
I wrote this poem early part of this month as a blog posted on my website. It's a common sense/lash out at the president's most harshest critics and haters. These people seem to criticize everything that he does. As an independent, but more over to the base of the conservative side of the political spectrum, I agree/disagree on certain things that the president have done but I'm willing to give him time and show him respect like I did with former president Bush. Bashing just to be bashing and engaging in double standards towards him and not with other past presidents is not constructive criticism. What these people need to understand that this type of behavior is Only making themselves look seriously misinformed and ignorant, not the president!

Saxophones over Johannesburg

saxophones over Johannesburg
clouds in the champagne
let it rain
let it rain
for the regime must change

jazz in the hinterland
grazing in the grass
Mbaqanga
Mbaqanga
trumpets from Botswana

Stimela, Stimela
call of the coal train
brought them down
deep down
deep down
in the gold and mineral mines
of the metropoli

About this poem:
Listening to Hugh Masekela's Stimela, one of my favourite jazz compositions, the song is basic enough being just two chords but the trumpet playing is out of this world.

Masks?

I'm less than a week away from getting my second shot
Then it's two weeks to get away from being hot
From these masks that make you breathe in your own carbon dioxide
It is not worth trying to hide
I will not miss these blue masks
I have enough to do to make up my tasks
Just sifting through the endless crap that people spew out
It makes me want to scream and shout
What about other things that should have my attention
Wasting my time on germ retention
There are real things to be enjoyed that I am missing
Like love and joy and lots of kissing
So I wait in anticipation
For this hoax brought on by our nation
What will they think up next?
To try to get people from having sex

About this poem:
We got the word that starting in June there will be no masks required at work if you have your covid shots and have two weeks after, then they put a sticker on your badge. Those who are afraid of the shots have to keep wearing those darn masks.

One Day.

To the bottom onlt to find my advantages,
I've found my calling now to peel off these bandages.

When that certain feeling that no one hears you arrives,
find that certain outlet to channel, never deprive.

Kept focused but lost tack
now keeping focused to eventually attrack.

Tug-a-war to pull you in? Then i'm not playing, you win.
...Seems all anyone wants to do is follow trends.

Sometimes I bash myself too much for my past, if i keep that consisteint nothing will last.

Seeing the ugly as beautiful evey now and then,
will I ever feel normal again?

I can't speak to you in words how i feel,
but read my words for they are real.

Fallen Soldier

I take another breath
Taste the stress back of my throat
Back of my throat
To the depth of my chest
Wondein’
Why there’s any breath lest
When so many lye breathless
In that place I lest
Where Death won’t rest
Pain won’t sleep
And troublin’ thoughts won’t cease
As you pray for peace
Beg and plead
Prayin’ that you leave
Finally, orders received
By the momentary reprieve
A hard thing to learn
You’ve been called to return
To the bloody sounds that burn
Eager to turn…
Your Happy times with family
Into thoughts & dreams that tear at your sanity
How can this be?
That nothing happen to me
Left to live a life that’s sad to see
II pray they’re not mad at me
Victims of a Patriotic tragedy
Bonded by Comrodery
By the Lord,
Another fate’s been handed me
Try to be understandin’
Please!
I implore Thee
Forever I mourn we (thee)
“til this whole world is over
My Fallen soldier

Are You Impossible?

What you admire to me is expired,
It's sad to see what you looked up to retired.

You set yourself in a set path it seems I can't touch,
Well, have you been all the way to the bottom to embrace and clutch??

Are your eyes set on me like I think.
And for that does your "set path" start to shrink?

I bare through the ignorance to find what I love,
...Someone that can accept me and has the touch of a dove.

Can't extinguish the start much less the end,
everything around me now just seems blend.

I can feel an uprising soon,
something and someone that will send me satisfied to my tomb
