This is my song!

I am the ruler of this court
Hear what I say
Listen to me
I sing what ever I want

I have an attitude
Like I am the queen
Don't mess with me

These are
My rules my tunes
I sing my song
I have found my voice

I have an attitude
Like I'm the queen
Don't mess with me

I am the ruler
Of this court
I sing what ever I want
These are my rules
My tunes

I have an attitude
Like I'm the queen
Don't mess with me
This is my song

Not A Loner

Sometimes you don't need anyone,
and want to be alone.
Keep the distance away from people.
You've suddenly became a loner.
Less talk.
Sad eyes.
No more smile and laugh between us.
You shield yourself.

Then I realized.
Actually you just want to be found.
With them asking "are you okay?"
That is enough for you.

About this poem:
Nothing to say because it's written on it. Simple question like "are you okay?" really could help someone or people to feel better. OR at least prevent suicide.

Unsung Song

Sing to me my precious one
Your song of Yes and No
A song that starts with questions asked
And never tells of woes

What thoughts make up your memories
What dreams of long ago
Are you at your senior prom
With your high school beau?

Can you see your wedding day
Your husband’s handsome face
Or hear your firstborn baby cry
When he joined the human race?

Life! Where is your justice
That you so can so cruelly go
And leave her precious melody
A simple yes or No

About this poem:
Written for a lady I was caregiver for before her death. She could only say two words...yes and no. I couldn't help but wonder what true depth she hid inside.

Pills

Pills
They come in different sizes
Some are hard
Some come in a plastic like capsule form
Why do they cost so much
My doctor prescribed me two medications
That came to over 1,000 bucks for a three month supply
I won't take them anyway because if I start I can't stop
Stopping them might give me a heart attack
What about the disabled who don't have to pay the bill
They must have thousands of tax dollars wasted by greedy doctors
Doctors more interested in their brick driveways and castles
Than the real health of their patients
If doctors really cared
They would tell you to eat right and exercise an hour a day
Not give you poison pills

About this poem:
The price of those meds about gave me a heart attack. I couldn't believe it. I have a friend who is on disability and he is prescribed hundreds of dollars worth of meds each month, most he doesn't even take, but the bill still goes to the taxpayers.

Sweet Potato Love - A Recipe'

Embedded image from another site

If you have some lonely sweet potatoes
I have a recipe that is fun and nutritious
· You can garnish with organic tomatoes
Yummy, quick and oh so very delicious

Cooking just makes your heart all aflutter
· Start with coconut oil and a pat of butter
Into the pan it goes, heat it up on medium
· Throw in your onions sliced or diced
Start them browning, no frowning

· Add all those cut up sweet potatoes
Now the spices here’s how that goes
· Shake on the cumin and turmeric
This will start the savory kick
Your kitchen will be atmospheric
· Don’t forget salt and pepper
They just go together, clever!
· Spice it up with fresh thyme
· Garlic added at the end time
Be creative with spices you like
You’re going to love the first bite

Cook until sweet potatoes are tender
Giving up the flavors in hot surrender

· It won’t take too long so sip your wine
Julia would say it helps make it a fun time
· Adding a splash or two of that red juice
Makes a wonderful sauce when reduced

· If you must have some meat
Cook that in a separate pan
Add it in so it looks really neat
· Noodles added would be a plan

Sweet potatoes are so good for you
Hope you try and enjoy it too
Remember, you are what you eat
Au revoir and Bon Appetite!

Stranger in the bed

Who is that lady
laying there in your bed
guess they have moved you
to a new ward again.
So frail so thin
how fragile she seems
can't help but watch her
this stranger as she sleeps.
Hands black and blue
from injections and drips
yellowing complexion
blooded dry cracked lips.
Shes somebodies mother
somebodies wife
glad shes not my fathers
and this mothers not mine.
She opens her eyes
see's me watching her
"oh there you are my girl"
thought i lost you at the fair.
Putting denial behind me
flowers in vase
i brush aside whats left of it
hair..to plant kiss upon face.
"yes mam i am here"
your allusions are not real
but if it eases your pain
who am i to say no to morphine.
But it don't ease mine
yet i rise to meet the stranger
cause its my turn now
to repay your loving care.
Forgive my weaken moment
forgive my denial
know i am beside you,
know i always will.

Healing heart

Words spoken but can they be heard
Hearts broken with just one word
Weak is how the broken feel
Until they find the strength that helps them heal

for want

The old man sat
nearly motionless
pen to paper laid
head slightly bent
as the young man
stepped from nowhere
with menace in his hands

"Give me all your words,
the ones with the patina"
"ones that when rubbed, shine
brightly in our dim light."
"the ones to touch a soul,
ones that give life meaning"
"I have a family to feed,
I have children and a wife,
who look to me for sustenance."

The old man sat listening
hunched as he was by time
and said nothing for a while.
"Put your threat down...
sit here beside me and I
will show you all that
you ask for."

The young did as he was bade
and sat to the right
as the elder began to speak
"All my words and the deeds
they proclaim are here
in my hand, as they were
before I even was aware
of deeds, let alone words."

"All you threaten to do
in life is within you,
now, the riches you desire,
to be a good provider."
"The vanity of wisdom
was told well by Solomon
and always within your reach."

Lightened and repurposed,
"Thank you" the young man said
as he rose to resolutely
continue, and the elder man
bent is head slightly down
and let go his pen.
