The dance of colors

The brush did not say a word
Not sure how I remembered
To let it out
From the abandoned prison
Of the desk drawer.
"Do not forget the water colors"
A voice whispered softly
And off we went
I was not fast enough to catch
The shifting outlines of the objects
And nail them flat on paper
Until the brush took full control
It mixed and shaped and splashed
And gently pushed me
To join the dance of colors

Missing you

Missing you
By Ramaking

Due to your departure
Thousand leagues
I rode so far away
Among country roads;
Thousand herds
Of cattle I touched;
Thousand colts I tamed ;
But the longing for you,
The missing of you,
In a framework of feelings
I did not tame
Because I am busted,
Lost among ghost buildings.

About this poem:
In the poem Missing You, the poet Ramaking follows the tradition of the minstrels, the poets wanderers, belonging to the Middle Age in France, Portugal and Spain. This tradition was brought later to Brazil with the Portugueses in the colonial period. As a rule, in a dramatic tone, the minstrel describes the loss or departure of a loved one. This tendency was incorporated in the center of Brazil by the "caipiras" , regional country singers that ended up becoming a popular phenomenon of the Brazilian music. Truly speaking, the roots of the minstrels can be traced to the Classical Antiquity and in epics like Iliad and Odyssey from Homer.

MANS FOLLY

The ground was bare
as was the air
from gusts and thrusts
to stir compacted soil.

The mothers toil came fast
as the destruction cast
darkness and death.
She still had breath
to give life
but not without strife
for floods and fire raged.

Survival has always been
the stronger force.
It unravelled its course
around the globe.

Smiles appeared
across the miles
as flowers bloomed
and the birds cooed.

Heads hung in shame
at the lame excuses
of man's own folly.
Did man not learn at all
from earths nearly fall?

~ A Family Get Together ~

~A Family Get together ~

May your Thanksgiving day
bring your family closer together

The warmest of feelings towards everyone there,
near or far

Enjoyment of the Thanksgiving feast,
From the carving of the Roasted turkey to the
whip creamed minced pie ~

Cranberry stuffing, whipped mashed potatoes
with mushroom gravy,
green salad w/dressing, squash soup,
red beets & green beans,
candied sweet potatoes,
hot biscuits with butter that melts
in your mouth.

Cakes and berried deserts,
apple & minced pie,
with heaping of whipped cream piled up high ~

Wishing one and all at Connecting Singles
An enjoyable Thanksgiving Day!

FJ.............

Gidday mate It's been awhile
Since I've seen your crooked smile
Your ginger locks and goatee
Always seem to amaze me
You'd seem to be a quiet as you can
Questioning everything was your plan
But deep inside was a roar
It just had trouble finding the door
Your heart was bigger than the sun
In your life it was just fun
Cruising around in your FJ
Your old mans pride you'd say
Your family as solid as a rock
Obviously from good stock
Music the key to your world
Guitar notes you would unfurl
Dibbling and dabbling we would explore
The world of drugs how could you ignore
So when things went a little astray
I guided you through it with little say
Steered you through my darkest hour
While making sure you didn't go sour
But after that things did change
A distance emerged from your range
Angst developed from your family
Directed towards all of me
I think it was because you liked a drink
And I was the influence that made them think
How could there boy come undone
We have to blame someone
Little did they understand
You were enjoying your life as your plan
And even though you invited me in
I steered clear of the evil drink
This was never because of you
Just of my weakness that I knew..........

~ Happy Holidays ~

~ Happy Holidays ~

The Autumn leaves are now on the ground

Soon the snow flakes there will be found

Whitening it up with wind blown snow drifts

Ground covered earth embraced
with snow flake kisses

Wind will blow and howl outside

Logs will crackle and burn bright

Stay inside as it will be cold tonight

Soon the turkey dinner will be here to enjoy

Then on Christmas Dear Santa will appear

All dressed up in his Red and filled with cheer,

We will dream of Christmas, while we are in bed!

Holidays are wonderful to spend with you,

To spend them with family and our friends too ~

REO Speedwagon

A friend paid for me to go to your show
59 bucks they decided to blow
We got to enjoy some of your top hits
You've been performing since the 70's
You don't seem to want to quit
You started with Don't Let Him Go
You did a tribute to the shooting in a California bar with Time For Me To Fly
Can't Fight This Feeling
Keep On Loving You
Take It On The Run
And In My Dreams were some of my favorites you performed
I haven't paid for a concert ticket since Weird Al Yankovic in 2000
I enjoy you much more singing in my car
But still I am thankful I got to see live the people who created those songs
The 80's were a majical time for music
And I sure enjoyed you and the rest who created some awesome music!

About this poem:
We had some of the cheapest seats, at 59 dollars. The ones up front I figure went for around 300 dollars. REO Speedwagon is a good show.

TAKE TIME TO BE HUMBLE

Embedded image from another site

Taking for granted God’s gift of health
Unprepared for unexpected problems dealt
Brought to a screeching halt and afraid
We are reminded to stop and pray

Why is it when we are in trouble we call
But when we are busy we don’t until we fall
Our Father wishes to hear from us everyday
Take time from your work and play

When we are in trouble He sends help our way
Humbling us to remember He is just a call away
Using others to show His love is always there
We at least can take time to talk to Him in prayer

About this poem:
This week I came to a screeching halt with a torn cartilage in my right knee. He sent my church family to help me out so very much. Not sure how long will be laid up but I know I am loved by him - my brothers and my church brothers and sisters.

What becomes.........

What becomes of the child
Left behind with his smile
A victim of separation and pain
Will their words be worthwhile
As he walks the long mile
Searching for reason and sane
Will he share what he knows
As his angry feeling grows
Or will he wait for it to rain
Could he be more lonely and lost
Is it really worth the cost
The price of happiness to gain
Are their words rich with love
Blessed by the one above
Or is it all just a game
This could be the turning point
If his life is out of joint
How will he be able to tame
The anger that he feels
His resentment reveals
What is it ......he is to gain...........

About this poem:
I understand people will seperate for obvious reasons what I don't understand why the fallout of that separation has to be loaded onto the kids .............don't they have to be the priority here ?
