Also read the published scientific experiments done on her mediumship, by the University of Arizona.
p.s. you, too will transcend in the same way as everyone else, whether you like/believe it or not.
Do plants and animals have this soul that transcends too? Or is it just humans? I think people just convince themselves that we are a special lifeform and not just another part of the eco system that lives and dies as a natural course of things.
Mediums, psychics and religion all fall into the same category for me. Dubious. Designed to make people feel better about mortality.
Maybe i'm wrong... It would be nice if you were right though :)

Wonder if she could have duped the People from the James Randi Educational Foundation so easy?

Skeptics such as Dr. Paul Kurtz and Dr. Ray Hyman say that DuBois does not have psychic powers. Ray Hyman of the Committee for Skeptical Inquiry (CSI), questions the scientific integrity of Schwartz's approach to such psychic phenomena, in papers written for the organization. Schwartz has responded by explaining that there were logical errors in Hyman's and other published criticisms of his work. Schwartz's experimental methodology is available for public analysis in papers uploaded to his web site.[dead link]
Skeptic James Randi says that people such as DuBois give the appearance of psychic powers through cold reading techniques. For example, DuBois, when doing her first reading of Schwartz, told him that his deceased friend was telling her, "I don't walk alone," which Schwartz understood to be a reference to his friend's confinement to a wheelchair, which DuBois could not have known about. Randi says that Schwartz leapt to an unsupportable conclusion, since the notion of "not walking alone" can mean any number of things, and "certainly does not describe being in a wheelchair." Randi also asserts that experiments that allegedly yield positive results of psychic powers, such as the ones done with DuBois, are not conducted using proper scientific controls. In light of Schwartz's assertion that "some" of his experiments with DuBois were performed under such conditions, Randi questions why the rest of them were not, and points to a report demonstrating that a few of Schwartz's experiments were not performed according to standard scientific protocol. Dr. Schwartz's point-by-point response to Randi's criticisms were published in 2005.
Randi has offered to have DuBois tested for his One Million Dollar Challenge. According to Randi, DuBois declined his invitation to the challenge.
Former FBI profiler, behavioral science expert and MSNBC analyst Clint Van Zandt challenges statements about psychics helping law enforcement arguing, "If psychics were truly successful and if their results were not simply the consequence of trickery (at worse ) or good interviewing skills (at best), then why don't law enforcement agencies have psychic detective squads, a real X-Files Unit, or other ways to integrate these paranormal investigative capabilities?"
Soul? What the hell is a soul? Yes I'm being serious. Only a silver tongue con artist could make someone believe something exists which, Can't be seen Can't be felt Can't be touched Can't be heard Can't be smelled has zero weight, doesn't reflect light, leaves no shadow, produces no heat, makes no sound, has no size or shape.
Religion, the most successful scam on earth. Gullible people will happily detonate high explosives packed on their bodies, so effective is this con job.

Whoa, Dude! I think the reindeer would disagree with you about Santa Claus having no weight.

Pretty much nor does the air we breathe
Just because most people can't see, feel, touch, hear, smell, or "measure" a soul, it does not mean they don't exist.
Before telephones were invented, if you'd told anyone that one would be able to hear the voice of somebody who was thousands of miles away, as clear as if they were standing next to you, they would have said "madness!! that's impossible!!"
The existence of soul or spirit has absolutely nothing to do with religion.

Good mediums are able to provide physical description of the person who's passed away and they are communicating with, without having ever met them or seen a photo. They are able to provide names and significant dates and describe events that can't be read from the body language of the live person sitting opposite them (the sitter). This can include events from the past and events shared between the sitter & the deceased and from the recent past of the "sitter", like how they broke a cup this morning which can't either be read from body language.
Anybody receiving a "reading" which only containts vague information that can be understood in many different ways is not dealing with a good medium. Enf of.

HI Conrad, I don't know about your Randy friend ...I can only refer you again, to the published scientific experiments by the University of Arizona. They would have used strict methodology and would not risk their professional integrity. Having results published in peer review journals is no mean feat. In any case, skeptics are labelled that for a reason. They never really intend to seriously consider any position other than their own, no matter what evidence might be brought to bear. Sceptics do not phase me, because I prefer to remain completely open to discovery. Closed mindedness isn't very appealing to me.

Cool air til it's a liquid and you can see it. you can smell it, stand in front of a fan and you can feel it and it most certainly has weight in fact a 1" square column of air the height of the atmosphere weighs a staggering 14.7 lbs.
Definition of RELIGION the service and worship of God or the supernatural (2) : commitment or devotion to religious faith or observance 2: a personal set or institutionalized system of religious attitudes, beliefs, and practices 3archaic : scrupulous conformity : conscientiousness 4: a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith
The existence of a soul is a belief, a matter of faith, not a fact. By the way in the case of the telephone you're not actually hearing the persons voice but a reasonable facsimile of it produced mechanically.
I think a better discussion would be, does the soul exist? If it does then by definition, it cannot die. If it doesn't then we are all just a collection of atoms formed randomly after the big bang which we physically return to after death. The second of these leaves me wondering why we bother advancing as a species. Why do we bother curing illnesses or educating ourselves. In that scenario, life begins as nothing and ends as nothing and you can quote all the philosophers you like. Their opinion is no more or less valid than my own which is that the soul/spirit is eternal and is only too eager to escape the restraints of this life at times.
