Generocity is difficult to measure, we had some crisis a few years back and new Guinea donated a few million to us. Of course we donate hundreds of million to them each year directly and indirectly, we're a much bigger economy. But it was a very generous thing for them to do, and the sentiment was greatly appreciated.

And money changes things in two respects. Obviously more money than you know what to do with leads to a type of generous but more important is the anxiety to impress that you are a somebody. But this does not mean that the high "generosity" of the gulf is not built upon man's inhumanity to man. Guilt perhaps for all the Pakis they've exploited and killed.

The Netherlands, we give lots of money to poor countries in Africa each year by the government, but also trough a lot of lotteries etc.
Italians may not agree with me because the Netherlands (also with Gemany) held back economical help from the EU for Italy during this corona crisis, but there is a reason for that. Italy refused to follow the European rules about their finances, and wants the rich countries to pay for their misbehaviour, just like Greece did in the past).
We are not that stupid. We're with only 17 million people, but we pay half the world.
