Nice blog, Biff. Nobody likes to be taken for granted, even when they are happy to do what is asked of them. Showing one's appreciation for any good deeds received, and not taking a mile when offered an inch is a good way to live.
Hiya Biff, I'm generally pretty good for answering emails. I tend to do it sooner rather than later so it is done and dusted and I can move on to other things. The problem with what your friend is doing is that she is actually adding to her inbox issue. When she doesn't answer back, the other person will email her again, thus adding more emails to her inbox. One thing I know I do which can possibly annoy some people is that if there is more than one subject matter in an email, I probably won't address them all. So if you want an answer to one particular subject, just mention that subject and hold off on the others
Rather than widen the street, ensure that the shops lining the narrow street on which there is a long queue have outdoor stalls so people can browse and purchase as they await their turn. It looks like I will have to go over to Jump to manage their tourism strategy.
Mic, I hate to rain on your parade, but Irish people have one of the highest rates on skin cancer.
And the reason is partly that. No sunblock is worn as it doesn't seem sunny, but the rays are still coming through. Then when they go to sunnier climes, they'd risk sunburn rather than go home as pale as they went.
Hi Soc, Change is always difficult, especially if there is also a perceived loss of power and status. Things have improved greatly in the West, other cultures and areas are not quite so enlightened yet. Some people confuse equality with 'same as'. They are not correct. Men and women are not the same (luckily ) but they both have brains, bodies and abilities. They should thus be treated equally both under the law and in society. True equality should benefit everybody. Men can now enjoy all aspects of rearing their children, hold jobs traditionally thought of as women's jobs, etc. There is still huge inequality in higher governmental and corporate level though. It is still commonplace to see a photo of all-men ministers or directors, with maybe a random woman amongst them. This is changing, but very slowly. Life would be better for everybody if there were true equality. Then we could embrace the differences and similarities fully.
Some people believe in a religious god. Some don't. Some believe in pagan gods of nature. Some don't. Some believe that science can prove everything Some don't. Some believe they are more spiritual or special than others. Some don't. Some do it all quietly and personally. Most don't.
Unfay, as a kid I just felt boys got to do all the exciting things. Their toys were more fun too. Dolls and dresses? Meh..not for me. Luckily my poor mother gave up on her idea of a girly girl early on
Johnny, one doesn't have to be anti-social to need to spend time alone. I don't see there being any stigma attached to wanting time alone. Unless the person is self-stigmatising. By that i mean, they are not happy in their own company and thus feel they are being judged for being alone by others, but they are the only ones doing the judging.
RE: A whole new ball game
I wasn't talking about you, Har , but your lads. They are feeling a little lonely and under-used
