I like the concept, Wen. I grew up with the concept. I've always fought for the concept.
But it has been burned out of me right now. I hope it will be a banner I can raise again sometime but right now it seems like a myth, extinct as the dodo.
But - but - you elected a president with those qualities? Aren't they good?
The "married and living together and not looking" people are usually here for the blogs, not to meet people. The clue is in being honest about their status.
Vier, I have to buzz off myself (by car) for a while but looking out for the pics when I return. And you got 100th comment, would you like a thick pair of virtual winter gloves?
Track how long is it due to last? Because that sounds absolutely terrifying, from what Nam said of his temperatures hopefully already past you and maybe soon to warm up again. I don't think I have ever experienced temps below -9 C in my entire life (and very happy to keep it that way)
Wen, we live in very different times now. Respect for the individual is dead, buried, and jumped on, and that's leading by example from the top down. The more powerful the leader, the more complete contempt he (or she) shows for his (or her) opponents, critics and, increasingly, colleagues and staff.
Fay, March may yet throw up some surprises but I hope you're right and the Sunshine State continues to treat you gently to the end of winter and yeah, I completely agree on how weird it is to see how hugely temperatures are ranging
Kal, that usually turns out to be on exposed hilltops (or did all the years I lived there) because weather forecasters like attention as much as everyone else but yes, for many this is forecast as the worst weekend of the winter so far - WRAP UP WARM y'all
Track, that IS warm for your part of the world, practically springlike going out to take photos?
Vier, ,may you find a nice warm replacement Volvo before your tootsies freeze on the bike. So not biking weather
The government - who had been in power since I think 1946 - believed firmly that television was letting the Devil Himself into your living room. Finally in 1975 they relented, the excitement was palpable. My mother had been without television for about 25 years and even watched the Afrikaans half of the transmission, although she had never learned a word in all the years since she had moved to South Africa.
Almost impossible for me to comment, Nam, my country only got TV in 1975 - one hour a day in English, one hour a day in Afrikaans, back then, all caught up now - so unless you post from the Brady Bunch or Star Trek, the old shows SABCTV bought at the time, I'm clueless.
LJ I haven't seen much of the country myself yet, but have taken my daughter and a friend to Granada on separate visits and they were both impressed. Old Spain at its most grandiose.
If you fly into Malaga airport you have coastal Marbella, where the international yachting jet-set hang out, very near by but that's a longer drive for us. Not that that should weigh with you
Although I don't of course know anything about your future wife I think the very best advice I can give you is to install excellent central heating which can be set up to at least 35 degrees Celsius in winter, so that you can both enjoy her stiletto heels year round.
The alternative is to buy nice woolly boot-length slippers for her and have them fitted with heels?
Bear, I always thought of Ohio as warm year round, I'm trying to think why I thought that - I did enjoy the TV program Cincinnati all those years ago, maybe I associated any TV show with a sort of Hollywood climate! Hope you have a good fire burning and are snug inside when it's coldest
LJ, best to go with Z's suggestions as he has been here so much longer! He's a great guide to the area. October is a good month to come, not too hot, no matter where you're planning to go. Fiesta time is August but it is very hot and very crowded then.
If you enjoy spectacular architecture and antiquities I would definitely recommend Granada - it's a beautiful heritage city with some amazing buildings including a jaw-dropping cathedral, it has the Alhambra Palace which is one of the must-see sights of the world, it is in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada, and (speaking purely selfishly) it isn't far from us all for getting together It's also not a gazillion miles from Map if he's on your coffee list. The only thing it isn't is on the coast - about 60? miles inland.
RE: SOMETHING TO THINK ABOUT
Wen, I thank you.I think I'm a goner.
