About 19 years ago, my ex-husband who was a chef with Fullerton Hotel, Singapore, was sent to St.Moritz for their gourmet festival.
He bought me 2 gifts from Geneva.
A ceramic fondue pot that looked something like this.
Fondues are not our thing and the pot ended up as a showpiece in our kitchen cabinet. On more than one occasion, I had been very tempted to give it to his mom so that she could cook her curry in it
I was collecting Wedgwood mugs back then and he got me this.
Life is indeed good. I’m not one to mull over unhappiness, I will find a solution to the cause of my unhappiness and a lot of times, I’m able to rectify them. However, if I can’t fix it, then I’ll say to myself, “Oh well, at least I tried!”
My daughter was born in the year of Tiger ( 1998 )
But she’s not as ferocious as a Tiger
Had Art to put these up for Chinese New Year. I did miss my old country and friends during that time and it didn’t help that they were eating all the Chinese New Year goodies while Skype-ing with me!
Chinese New Year is never the same anymore…not after my maternal grandpa passed away….I miss him greatly
After the museum, we had lunch at Chicago Street Cafe! A hole in the wall. Didn’t have any choice coz all the other restaurants in this small town were closed ( Labor Day weekend ). It’s a cafe that operates as a pawn shop or is it the other way round? Spoke to the owner who’s from the Lakota tribe and I asked her so many questions coz I was really intrigued by her.
Before taking our orders, the waitress ( only one there ) warned us that we might have to wait for at least 45mins for our food coz there were only one cook. I immediately asked her to get me an apron so that I could help the cook out! Luckily for my friends and family, the waitress didn’t take me seriously

Art is such a cad!!!
And you all know that MiMi has a thing for older men
We truly enjoyed ourselves. There were 9 of us traveling together and with careful and proper planning, we managed to make it work and all went home happy!
I made simple dinner for all of us a couple of times and baked 3 cheesecakes to be brought along! A post from my friend’s FB page.
Thank you for reading and hope you all have had a great weekend too!
I didn’t make it for the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup in France like I intended to due to the uncertainty of my US visa application at that time.
I’ve only been to Amsterdam and Spain. Art and I would love to visit more of Europe in the future and hopefully can have a meet-up with you if we are around the vicinity!
As for those anti-vaxxers, this is how I feel…you don’t want to get vaccinated, fine. It’s your prerogative and I respect your decision/stance but please, don’t tell me I’m stupid or ignorant for taking them shots.
Ok, maybe I’m ignorant and stupid but you do you and leave me alone!
Art and I celebrated our second wedding anniversary last weekend. He took me to my favorite restaurant and I had to warn him not to order rice like the last time we were there
Bang-bang shrimp and fried calamari
It was a good thing that Art was struggling with them chopsticks …. MiMi got more share of them appetizers!
Here’s something I saw on my Facebook that I thought is funny!
Put your wife in a room & lock it. Put your dog in another room & lock it !!! Open both rooms after 2 - 3 hours & see who is Happy to see you, and who will BITE you ! ( You are advised not to try this at home as these stunts were performed by professionals; who are now divorced; and living happily with their dog!!)
Don't laugh loud ---- The extended version says... Put your husband in a room & lock it. Put your dog in another room & lock it !!! Open both rooms after 2 - 3 hours & you will be happy to see your dog waiting for you.. but you'll be angry looking at your husband sleeping like he never slept before!!!
Chanakya writes; "If you want to be Happy with your husband, Love him Less & Understand him more !
If you want to be Happy with your wife, Love her More & NEVER try to Understand her !"
Very interesting & meaningful message to share No one teaches a Volcano how to Erupt....No one teaches a Tsunami how to Rise...No one teaches a Hurricane how to Sway...No one teaches a MAN how to choose a WIFE or a WOMAN how to choose a HUSBAND.
Natural Disasters Just Happen...
P.S: Art’s message “Yeah, we made it to another year without seeing the divorce lawyer!”
Amalfia, I just realized something. The red t-shirt my son was wearing in the pic is of the Toronto Raptors! He’s a fan of them for many years now and at one time his favorite player was DeMar DeRozan no.10. Art was aware of it and he bought my son that very t-shirt when he came to visit me in Malaysia the very first time in 2017.
That’s the Chinese character of Toronto on the t-shirt. It’s pronounced as ‘Tor-Lon-Tor’ in Cantonese
Ok, one more thing and then I bother you no more The next time you see your friends, ask them if they know a fellow Malaysian by the name Christine Leong. I can bet my last dollar they ( at least one of them ) probably do
Do you go to the Malaysian restaurant often? What are your favourite dishes? Do you have any Malaysian friends? Sorry if I sound like an IRS investigator
Thanks, Mic. He’s proud to be in his uniform and I’m very proud of him. Hope he can contribute ( in any form ) to this country in the future, this country that has given so much to him and his momma.
RE: When you find a life partner...you inherit..
Yup, not easy to be in a partnership….really not easy at all…I feel so bad for my Arty…..
