I just made myself a faux Rob Roy, or Scotch Manhattan as it's known in the U.S.
A shot of Scotch, a few drops of Chinnoto (Italian soft drink) and a splash of Angostura bitters. It tastes just as good as the real thing, even without the cherry. I believe that those super RED or GREEN cocktail cherries stay in your system for at least 12 years, given all the additives that preserve them.
Anyone have any ideas on how to economize on their favourite drink ? (Other than adding way too much water)

Got up this morning and had to get rid of all the blood stains from my sheets and clothing....9 days after having the staples removed from my knee surgery, it's still bleeding.
Drove to the neighbouring larger town to get my fix of Chinnoto. If you're Italian you know the drink, if you're not, try it and you'll never drink Coke or Pepsi again.
Against my moral values, I actually went to Wal-Mart, but only to buy socks.... I apologize to the third world folks who make these socks for a subsistence living. I promise, I won't do it again.
Hooked up with a friend and went to a very strange bar and I actually drank, only coffee, while watching him down a few pints of beer. (Very hard for me to do)
On my way home listening to the news; three more Canadian soldiers died today in Afghanistan, that makes 6 this week, and for what ? The USSR, not that long ago had 150,000 troops in Afghanistan and lost the war. The entire country (Afghanistan) must be onside if there is any hope for change, and that will never happen in our life time.

I find it hard to believe that I'm still here after all this time. I feel like that passed out drunk that you discover at 8 AM at your house party and don't really know who the hell he is. I've remained here through so many cycles of alumni coming back and new peeps' entering.

For a lot of us here, a bad time of year. Not just for us, but our children as well. I won't go into details, you know what I'm talking about.
Since my divorce, (my younger daughter was 11 at the time) has always insisted that she spend Xmas day with me, and has done so. She is now 21 and lives with her boyfriend. So now she has 3 obligations; my Ex., her boyfriends family and me. Xmas is only one day.
Yesterday I told her that Xmas is Jesus' birthday and has nothing to do with my love for her. Whenever I see her is a celebration in my heart, no matter what day of the year it is. It worked, so now she has one less stress to deal with on that day when we all make concessions.

Dana, I understand your anxiety and pain regarding Adam. You know by now that loss maybe another form of gain. Our lives are like leaves in the wind, they settle, disintegrate, but offer nutrients to another form of life...and so it goes. No matter what Adam's fate, he has felt your love and is feeling it now, what more could one ask for.
Life seems so unfair at times, but what can we compare it to ?

My cat is curled up on the chair beside me, I'm sipping a Shiraz, had 11 staples removed from my knee today and there's only a hint of bleeding. My daughter called me tonight, (she is my heart and soul) It's snowing tonight, but I'm warm and cozy.
Life is so tentative as mindfful's thread demonstrates, so I really shouldn't complain.
I just get bored now and then with the "same old....same old".
