RE: THE FOURTH TIME IN 176 YEARS THAT CONGRESS CLOSED ITS DOORS TO THE PUBLIC

"What is different between this genocide and other genocides is that this unique genocide doesn't produce mass graves. Instead, the victims are spread over a large geographic area and buried singly, thereby hiding the body count. This keeps the deaths sanitized and homogenized. It also keeps the autogenocide surreal; thus enabling the village to deny It's existence when clues to It's existence are ambundant and abundantly transparent."

Haven't seen nor heard this term since the early 60's as referring to the strategic adoption and plans for using the concepts of the Malthus Theory of Economics by the CIA back in the late 40's , early 50's with the eventual goal of planetary domination and management of all phases of human existence.
Autogenocide was born in that time as a few called it when denouncing this policy once word had started leaking out under Eisenhower. Many from intelligence services were hopeful when he tried in his own all too vague manner to warn not only the US but for all countries, of the coming "military-industrial complex" soon to take over the entire world. Unfortunately his entire speech was not broadcast, but only came in sound-bytes on news programs.
A good source to see and hear the speech in its proper context is to watch the documentary,"Why We Fight", winner of the Grand Jury prize at the Sundance Film Festival, now distributed by SonyPicturesClassics. As the docu's blurb warns viewers, "It is nowhere written that the American empire goes on forever."

RE: THE FOURTH TIME IN 176 YEARS THAT CONGRESS CLOSED ITS DOORS TO THE PUBLIC

It is, unfortunately long overdue; in the past 30 years, many good patriotic Americans in Government, the Military and from all walks of life had seen this all coming, but were either shouted down, carted off to jails or mental hospitals, voted out of office or had the all too familiar accident of falling out of a window at the infamous Bethesda Naval Hospital, sudden fatal cancers, plane crashes, etc. ad infinitum. Seems that reality is finally catching up with the American regimes and their concocted fantasies of the people, by the people and always against the people...

RE: Single parenting for Men ??

I have, I think, successfully brought up 2 children, one of each.
I felt absolutely great at my bringing them up alone when their mother died. In the sense that I had wanted children whereas she, I think merely acquiesced. I was terrified at times at all the possible things that could go wrong and what each hour, each day held. The weight of all those responsibilities never affected the joy I had with them. Their mother would not and could not cope and so whatever sacrifices had to be made, I made. Only regret is that I didn't have more! I loved being able to have them to bring up; being a father was a life long wish finally come true; and yes, I just wish that the circumstances had been very different, but you do as best you can. The experience never wore me out because it was FUN, loved them dearly and again, I had wanted them and I'd do it all over again without any hesitation.
One deep personal regret remains in that I could not find them a mother to help give them a really balanced upbringing. One with a woman's touch that only a woman can give...never even found one remotely interested.

RE: So many black brothers falling along the way side will the black president fall too.

Well, J. Edgar Hoover is not in charge of the FBI anymore, but they still have some strange zealots there. One can only hope that history will not repeat itself and so far so good. But Obama does not present any threat to US foreign policy as both King and Malcom X did over Vietnam and to have had them combine plus the anti war white militants would have been a disaster for the pro-war administration and had to be stopped at all costs, hence also Robert Kennedy had to be stopped. With the war in Iraq, there is as yet only a growing anti-war, anti-imperial New World Order sentiment . The war will continue and the anti war feelings will grow; it may be too late for them to pull out of Iraq...

RE: Does the word 'COMMITTMENT' mean anything to you?

The Eastern Rite, aka the Orthodox Church, encompasses the Greek as well as the Russian, with several off-chutes. (The only "problem" between the Russian Orthodox Church is a non religious one, nothing to do with the tenets of Faith and beliefs of doctrine, but a "political" one over the Pope's ultimate leadership on witch on on going dialogue is in progress as also with the Bishop of the Anglican Church.)
Instead of beer and whatever you smoke, you spend some time reading about the RC Church; and not from that Wiki ; try one by Catholic Scholars, fully accredited, or better yet, sober up and go seek out a Jesuit who is a Historian...can't get better than that.

RE: Do you judge people before you get to know them?

That would depend entirely upon the circumstances.
One scenario could be that of a woman, let's say sees an attractive and seemingly social male in a bar and wants to meet/ get to know him. He turns out to be not at all what her initial impression, feeling was. As she then may wish to leave this individual, he doesn't want her to leave, grabs her arm and says, "Aww c'mon baby stay an' talk to me..."
What is her "need" or feeling then...Sometimes one never knows and sometimes it's best to let things be as "the loss that is unknown is no loss at all" ...Being indiscriminent versus to be discriminating is a continual conundrum for some...%)

RE: Your views and experiences with them.

whom we help as responsible for the prevailing political and religious situations of those days. The names are different these days, but the same enemies remain"

Should have read "whom we HELD as responsible....."

RE: Eat to live or Live to eat?

Consider the moral, I pray,
Nor bring a young fellow to sorrow,
Who loves that young lady today,
And loves that young lady tomorrow.
You cannot eat breakfast all day,
Nor is it the act of a sinner,
When breakfast is taken away,
To turn your attention to dinner;
And it's not in the range of belief,
That you could hold him as a glutton,
Who, when he is tired of beef,
Determines to tackle the mutton.

Just spent 3 wks playing around in a big sandbox called Sahara, down in southern Libya. Rock climbing, camel racing...still sore...from falling too much...it had been a long time...It felt great to get away! %D

RE: Life is not static.

"Today is the day of disposable people and relationships!!!!!!!!!!!"

Sadly so true; everyone, everything we produce, everything we believe in, or did...is no deposit, disposable. Death only serves to get rid of us from this existential nightmare. The suicide rates are climbing faster than the birth rates...perhaps the governments should issue checks to families of those who decide to suicide...a death bonus...$50 dollars perhaps or just a tad more to encourage more , with another added bonus amount if the remains are cremated so as not to hinder the development of more golf courses...far too many cemeteries taking up valuable recreational land uses...

RE: Eat to live or Live to eat?

It matters not; you are what you eat, or who. Something like that. %)

RE: Clinton drinking

LOL! EWWWEEEE? what?? He had "marked" it as his, same as a dog urinates all over an ares to mark it as his territory...%D If he does have it, betcha its in a frame in his office...hey, maybe one day it'll be in the Smithsonian or the National Archives, with a copy in the Ripley's' Believe or Not Museum in Niagra...%D

RE: Reasons we should listen to that higher inner self...

There are a multitude of books written on intuition, being psychic, gut feelings, going with

your true heart feelings, hunches. I think its our Higher Self telling us the right way to go.

Lol...a lot of those books can be found starting in the 130's to 155's in your local libraries in North America; many are on how "you too can be all those after just reading my book"...in the self-help sections for the hopeless as we used to joke about those books; some are also found in the 290's but you can only acquire those traits if you believe in a certain religion, according to authors of different religions...
I have found that many people when under tremendous stress, duress and life threatening situations can and do quickly "develop" and use these abilities that they hadn't before. Their senses suddenly and totally "wake-up" it is like a blindfold suddenly removed and you are in the middle of a truly haunted house...it's also like shoot first and ask questions later, literally...

I believe we all are psychic, at some time...say BOO! to a ghost first. They hate that!

RE: Clinton drinking

LOL!! (BTW, did she EVER get her blue dress back or did Clinton get to keep it??? %D)

RE: Apathetic Approach

There's an ol' saying that "When women are depressed. they either eat or go shopping. Men invade another country. It's a whole different way of thinking." Like what is so wrong with going shopping, especially with women or one special one;it's fun! Certainly more fun than a war ...all that dirt, mud, blood and it's hell on the eardrums! WHAT!? %) The next war should be on politicians. No quarter.

RE: Should Kosovo be allowed to join Europe ?

LOL! Fine by me; I still have several World Identity Cards in multiple languages and UN issued Stateless Passports issued back in the 70's under different names and some still blank! (I kept them and my old "Get out of jail cards" from various Intelligence agencies and Interpol, in the event of a "rainy day"..%D )

RE: Should Kosovo be allowed to join Europe ?

2. If Justice makes the rule of a certain grour to a terriroty- this would be wonderful...Pity and unfortunately right on a territory... "There is seldom a territory that at some point in history has not been populated by different ethnic groups..."

The above seems to be the best approach. Politics should and MUST be kept out of these questions. As noted above, the regions and territories over the centuries have been taken and occupied by many ethnic groups; but for the most part, rarely re-taken with the huge exception of the lands once under the Turkish Ottomans.
The EU as a whole should perhaps try and devise a fair formula for picking judges to over see and implement a total revision of the Balkan issues, that will be unanimous in support from the various populations. To be sure boundaries will have to be adjusted in the long run but hopefully without interference by politicians who are usually gone after one or two elections while the bulk of the people; the voters remain...or resort to war by either popular but minority in numbers of people or by staged events in order to promote a war...I would hope that all of us Europeans have had enough of wars among ourselves(!), but who really knows, perhaps it'll be the old line of "just one more to finally settle everything" spiel....If a formula can be obtained with majority support and borders re-drawn to majority satisfaction, all costs etc. of moving any numbers of peoples should be shared by the entire EU; it would be far cheaper than any...ANY war costs.
One absolute non-negotiable proviso to any formula and /any settlement of these territorial/ regional disputed and anger would be that there be no "ethnic cleansing"; that must be "a no-no". Hopefully we as Europeans are...have finally matured enough to not attack ourselves anymore...it is the same if we would attack and kill members of our own families or relatives! Just my opinion on what needs to be done and of my own opinion of us as Europeans as a whole but thankful for our diversity...

RE: Would you boycott the Beijing Olympics ?

There are as many reasons for the boycotting of the "Chinese" Olympics as there countries. It certainly won't be the first time: 1956: the Melbourne Games were boycotted by a number of countries due to both the Suez Crisis and the Soviet's invasion and crackdown of the Hungarian uprising. 1972: over the Apartheid issue in South Africa. 1976: Following a New Zealand tour to South Africa, 22 countries boycott the Montreal summer games because the Olympic committee themselves refuse to ban New Zealand.(Also in 1976, China successfully pressures Canada not to intervene, not to let Taiwan compete as the "Republic Of China")
1080: Jimmy Carter, perhaps the only American President to act on his conscience, called for a boycott of the Moscow summer games following the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. 1984: In retaliation, the Soviets lead 14 other countries in their own boycott of the L.A. summer games, citing "chauvinistic sentiments" and "anti Soviet hysteria".
Clearly, boycotting the Olympics is nothing new, and can be often used as a tool to pressure other countries that, simply put, aren't playing by the rules. So why won't we see a boycott of the Beijing games??
Globalization and media convergence are two big reasons, thanks to literally billions of eager viewers worldwide to say nothing of the potential damage to international reputations and future trade agreements. Tibetans aren't worth more that trade deals...
Just consider Canada, because of it's Bush cloned Prime Minister, it's pro-Bush attitudes and the fact that Vancouver is hosting the 2010 Winter Games, there is absolutely no chance the Canadian government will risk the ire of such a favoured Pacific Rim trading partner by any boycott or support of one. The Olympics have simply become too big of an economic generator to risk jeopardising over something as mundane and middling as human rights, even though, despite of history showing us and morality agree that's exactly what should be done in this case. Either China should shape up, get out of Tibet or it should stay isolated...but then again, no one seemed to mind when Chinese troops poured into Tibet in 1951...so much for the ideas of Washington's policy of "Containing communism"... Money and trade are much more important than human rights let alone human lives...let alone Tibetans...for the second time!!

European Survey Concening the "brits"

No need to apologize! Your assessment aka "judgement" is all too true---unfortunately and certainly Flower is correct also. All are human, to one degree or another; some more, some less. The more impressions that are voiced, perhaps will cause many to reflect on the image they reflect to others. It all, invariably comes down to class. Some have it from birth, some acquire it as a matter of principle and some reject it and then there are those who just haven't a clue. Same goes for internal groups in any country regardless of class, education etc. Primitives are primitives to everyone but themselves Many in Germany find the typical Bavarian as crass, obnoxious, loud and primitive, like your description and many wonder why Bismark ever wanted Bavaria included as part of Germany...%D

RE: Obama for President,Too!

Now, now...don't be too rash. Don't forget the number of dead in the Clinton's wake from her good ol' days in that one room shack legal firm where the White Water scandal started to those heady days with Monika in her White House...the last speculative tally directly linked to her and to that bubba of hers is just over 50; the last being an alleged suicide on a parkway in Maryland or Virginia by an aide from the White Hose who had access to her private files on Whitewater, the real estate frauds back in Arkansas... She may get desparate...

RE: Poll:what do you find most baffeling about Americans

Anyone see the newest TV reality show from the US: Wife Swap?? or another one called Street Smarts, on which passersby at random are asked very simple questions such as Who is buried in President Grant's tomb...what river flows from a great lake to the Gulf of Mexico? Who was Marlyn Monroe? etc. and most get it wrong...ie, No she was NOT Madonna's mother...Jimmi Hendrix is not in Grant's tomb...it's the Mississippi river, not the Nile...%D What planet are they from?? %D

RE: Do you have a gun in your home

A normal kitchen has a dozen items that someone could use to kill themselves with or others for that matter. So do other areas of a home or apt. A farm? A virtual suicide paradise for tools to kill and/ or mutilate one's self or others, not counting the possibilities of fatal accident. Maybe a gun shop would be far safer...%D

RE: Obama for President,Too!

When I lived in Washington DC, I always heard that "no one in their right mind runs as a republican presidential candidate..." and as far as their looks go, one Senator from South Carolina told me, "son, their faces reflect the kind of people they are down deep". That is , as I've found, quite true in most cases if one really looks at a person.... My own perception of Obama's face in the myriads of photos I've seen leads me to feel somewhat sorry for him in that he doesn't seem to exude any air of malevolence, psychosis ...impending violent outbursts, doesn't seem in the least vicious, vindictive or crazed in the pursuit of Power like that Clinton woman or ...MS! %D Photos do reveal a lot.

RE: Obama for President,Too!

A trillion dollars is one of the reasons that Hillary Clinton mentioned as to why the Iraqi war is unwinnable, long with several others reasons including the time and , again, costs of replacing military equipment and , last but not least, the medical costs of all the wounded veterans and survivor benefits to the families of those KIA. Very compassionate for a wanna-be President...just another flip-flopper fish out of water as yesterday also, McCain got the names wrong of who Iran is allegedly supporting in the Iraqi War; he stated that Al Qaeda was being supported by the Iranians. When someone pointed out out that it was the extremist Shia militias, he tried to correct himself by then saying that the military knows Al Qaeda goes into Iran for training purposes...like is this a case of galloping senility or is he on a pharmaceutical recreational vacation...

RE: SUPPORT THE TROOPS,

Should have read: "It would be part of any production..."

RE: Pet Peeves...what really drives you crazy?

All of the things listed so far are , for the most part, what I expect to encounter in going outside, but as for driving, it's the ones that wish to turn right and they are in the extreme left lane and give no signals or they are front of you wheels going left and suddenly swerve to the right...and as usual, never signal. I'd love to send an RPG rocket up their tail pipes...now that would tell me that I live in a free country! %D
