Love of type..? Love of what or whom? What does "love" mean to you? There are about as many kinds of Love as there are days in a year;
Prokofiev loved three oranges and wrote music about it... %)

RE: Bush Veto Iraq Bill

Excellent point to mention the Katrina victims; there are several oil refineries in the Gulf that belong to Venezuela, and Chavez is giving many of the flood victims huge discounts for using their oil to heat their homes plus millions in aid to the various relief agencies for the people to buy foods, clothing etc. etc. Now, interesting question is why? What is the motive? US TV news has virtually and almost totally stopped reporting this massive aid from Chavez to the Katrina victims, so it can't be "for the publicity" as Fox tried to convey it...as Chavez said after the disaster, he likes the average joe american worker, so he will do what he can...seems he has done something to help. Lets be fair now.

RE: are you willing to be wiretapped for war on terror.

Finaly! Bravo! Many years ago I was shown a facility near Quantico, Virgina wherein US military personel and assumed FBI?CIA people were tapping into phones all over, up and down the east coast and all the transatlantic cables; some were specified targets; many were random sweeps as they upgraded and increased their ranges...your "Rights"? Every one would laugh and make jokes about "Rights"...and these was from "good ol' boys" that loved America and were stalwart patriots...sure they were...spy on, turn in lock up and kill your own people at the drop of a hat..."hell", as one told me, "we're our own worst enemy..." Nothing has changed.

RE: Big Oil kicked to curbed?????and they go ?????

There are several oil refineries in the Gulf which belong to Venezuela,(Chavez) and he has authorized huge discounts to the flood victims to heat their home...and has donated millions to the flood victim relief agencies. Check the facts first. There is no "takeover" planned by Chavez, it's all US hype as usual....

RE: Imagine what would be ...if we all stand up and say no...

The calls from the Canadian NDP and the other 2 parties are getting louder and louder and the motions to bring back the Canadian troops in Afghanistan are getting more votes, and may yet succeed as the military is under fire for engaging in, a party to and complaisant in committing war crimes against people taken on suspicion of being either members of the Taliban or sympathisers of the Taliban. Get some copies of the Globe and Mail newspaper, they have published some horrific accounts, all fully documented....seems that Canadian troops just can't go to a war,(as in Somalia) and not commit what are specified as war crimes under the Geneva Conventions....despite, the fact that the so-called "enemies" are not signatories to those conventions....personally, I can't really blame them if it does occur...we in Rhodesia and elsewhere gave what we got and more; we followed one simple rule: fight terror with even more terror until they quit( the real Ters, who started it all...)but, but, as Europeans, we did try to be somewhat "civilized" about it...well, sometimes.....

slight correction needed phrase should read "NOT some 25 dollar certified mail ordered minister..." etc. etc.

RE: In God We Trust...I Do...Hope You Do!

Thank you Chele. When it comes to playing politics and beliefs of any kind it usually and sadly becomes that the more a Govt. proclaims, the less it is true and when this Govt. says "yes" it usually means the opposite. One has to be very careful with words and their meanings, as well as context. They play at as if it were a game, hence for many it goes by unnoticed and unheeded. The prime example is this business about freedom of religion versus outlawing religion(s) in public schools or any place the Fed. Govt. has any jurisdiction; they have made a religion out of barring all religions and woe be unto you or anyone that dares challenge them and their religion of being "non religious", despite some of Jefferson's proclamations he wrote while Governor.
Religion is not irrelevant, not at allfor most people will find an inner solace and a set of civilizing parameters ...but without proper guidance from those versed in all its implications and applications, from ever knowing. Most are busy trying to make ends meet, people need trusted guides, priests, ministers, people of religious orders to help and some 25 dollar certified mail-ordered minister of some made up church and bizarre rites and rituals nor do people need a Govt. that seems to be made up of self anointed versions of an Elmer Gantry to whip up the masses to go out and slaughter those not like ourselves; that is not religion, but can be disguised as one...a religion is supposed to be a positive experience for all that comes to it or observes it in practise; it gives a positive code of ethics and behavior toward All; it embraces Life, it is not a program for genocide or hatred of any aspects of Life; weird and bizarre sects do enough of that....

RE: germans!!!!

HA! Well the originator was basically correct; Germany is a confused and at times hypocritical about why; but then again many others in Europe are; the american virus infects us all to some degree not even mentioning other countries outside Europe; it is a virus spread over most cultures and is having a very negative effect on all of our cultures, traditions etc. etc. Sadly, as our various societies suffer from it, foreigners and tourists suffer some negative side effects. We seem to be actually loosing the "multicultural" aspects within a global community and are in danger of becoming like the americans...and all of our uniquenesses of cultures are being plasticized .....%(

RE: your favourite writer Poet or Philosoph

Absolutely correct; Bravo; most schools til at least university/ college level seem to be factories for turning out dull, unimaginative sycophants of what ever teachers they have; you spout almost verbatim what they say and you pass with honours. May the Gods help you if you show any originality or seriously challenge their doctrines. Ancient Greece, among other countries had a tradition of schools, especially "universities" of "in-the-round"; the Sorbonne had some classes modelled on those and they were fantastic at various sites /parks around Paris. They were packed , even in July and August. They were basically open to anyone and free. Some classes/ debates went on for hours. It was totally inspiring to let your mind truly expand.
We seem to have a dialectic ourselves; an open mind versus a disciplined mind; which is better; which is better able to cope with the complexities of modern society, to make careful, perhaps analytical decisions with set goals....
From my own experiences with friends who had majored in Philosophy, none, none were ever quite the same afterwards: they never could make decisions, especially those that even became dept. supervisors in Govt. jobs and their personal lives were all a disaster; they could never settle on anything firmly. I've never noticed so much indeciveness among others who had not majored in Philosophy...strange, as also many seemed to lose touch with reality as time went on....( I know: their brains were tampered with in secret Govt. labs run by aliens!) %D

RE: your favourite writer Poet or Philosoph

I wholeheartedly agree that schools should offer much more about both the great Philosophers and their philosophy, but I'm not so sure about replacing religious "indoctrination" with philosophical indoctrination would be of any benefit to the world; it would be like trying to comprehend the infinitude of the Universe; of Creation. With religion, there is a purposeful and utilized decision. It is final and absolute; it is each religion's finite declaration of ...it's infinite God(s). It is the difference between Essence und Form. These can wreak havoc with students of both, following the lines of logic........#)

LOL, as I said, : security equiptment stores, build one from parts, or hell, steal one (with settings) or any from airport security, a large dept store, inventory Dept. sometimes have them around; best are the "security equip. stores, they have several models to choose from, any store/business that sells "debugging" and/or police equip. also, even those by mail are fairly reliable; after all you are NOT buying for "criminal purposes", or if you have a friend on a police force, they can easily get one...%)

RE: Aren't you ashamed of starting your profile

Good observation; look at how most introductions/ conversations go in less than 20 seconds: "Hello, my name ist...." "Hallo...nice to meet you. Do you work around here..." ..."Yes, I work at..." "Oh, what do you do there...?" as an example, both parties more often than not turn the direction of virtually all conversation towards work/employment which in the end is $$$$$$$; If both "low" You go your separate ways with the usual empty "Nice meeting you..."
Having lunches outside in a park or by a fountain etc. I often overhear bits like that...sad....

RE: Aren't you ashamed of starting your profile

"Correctness and decorum should be "manifest behavior" in themselves. That is very true.If the family is diligent the children will be raised as such and they will later appreciate it's benefits. Good observation.
Many years ago there was a TV program called "Lifestyles Of The Rich and Famous"...It was so superficial and crass, many said it was close to making them want to vomit. I designed a sweat shirt for a "counter life style " It was Bright yellow with a large circle on which it said Lifestyles of The Poor And Unknown" A small number was distributed to small retail outlets and sold for around ten dollars.
In the Retail Graphics world, yellow denotes "Cheap" Cheesy, low-class etc. I also chose it as loud and "sunny" as many that are poor and therefore "unknown" are usually happier and with a demeanor more sunnier than the "rich" who always seem preoccupied with safe guarding their wealth. It is true that "poor" people have far less ulcers than "rich" people; the old story of Rich in spirit but poor in pocket or having Champagne taste but beer money...
I love the idea of a 4 poster bidet!! Absolute genius!! Now, there is a real potential viable product for the truly rich and totally decadent, or just plain decadent...They could come in a variety of popular styles, from ancient Egyptian, Classical Roman, the many styles of furniture; Sheraton, Louis VIX or XVI, Chippendale etc. I'll put one order in for 18th cent. Chinoiserie ! with the 4 poster and canopy top, but of course! Seriously, this is a product that could work!! Don't flush this opportunity away!! cheesy, I know %)

RE: George Orwell's novel 1984 science fiction or reality in near future?

It is not only your tv...I deal with somewhat strange groups of people at times and have acquaintances in various security/ intel agencies due to my background in some rather "unconventional occupations", a few days ago in a meeting, one person had a "bug detector/ wand reader, similar to what airports use and he he "swept" everyone before the meeting started; some of the people had several "bugs"; microchips in their clothing and in their cell phones. They were only a few millimeters long and can be tracked by an agency or a person with a microwave scanner.
So this is the upshot of this: Many people are falling into being under some sort of surveillance. It starts out with what you buy; most products, including clothes contain built in microchips. They are tiny and they bounce a microwave back to a reader, with their ID and location. Businesses have been using them for inventory; all sorts of things.
The identity of the buyer in known as most purchase with credit cards or bankcards. Very simple. A reader can locate you if you are within range of a source beam; their ranges are growing as more scanners are placed in and around cities and neighborhoods.
Some stores that specialize in surveillance equiptment usually carry the wands to detect these chips or you can build one , from parts purchase at an electronics supply store.
One can remove the chips, destroy them or move them to an entirely different location and the thinking is usually that you are where your cell phone is....and your clothes! Then again, you may have had one put into you, just under the skin at a hospital or clinic or a doctor's office during any sort of examination...
Airport wands have setting on them so that when people come through with all the various chips on/in/about them, alarms won't go off when these are detected, usually their setting are for another frequency to detect guns, bullets, knives, coins etc; something larger than a few millimeters.
Clocks, sleeping bags, boots, camping stoves, you name it, it is chipped. The only viable way to get out from being under surveillance if to go back into time; use old stuff. Items, say, ten, fifteen, 20 years old and more have no chips, no micowave emitters nor fibre optics for 2 way viewing, as tv's after 1985...hey, ya never know if someone, somewhere has turned it on and is watching you! Give 'em a good show!
However, by becoming completely off the radar, as it were, you could attract attention also, just make it so that nothing on you tells where you are at any given moment. Chances will be that the programs would just use the items you have, like your phone.
The chips under your skin are usually places on shoulders and backs and resemble black-head pimples or tiny ticks from trees, bushes, woods etc. You'll need some one to "groom" you just like baboons do. Find one, use tweezers and have a band-aid handy. Then don't let someone shake your hand and pat you on the back again and it may be advisable to have someone you can trust in any examination room with you.
From contacts in the US, Homelands Security are using all of these, and only some in Europe, but so far, we can't ID who...Have a nice day!
