Hmmm, I was wondering that myself and I feel that many potential posters sadly stay away from the EU forum for this reason. It becomes very boring after a while to constantly read about the goings on in Malta. No offence intended.
However, nice to see that someone from Malta has picked up on this also!
I did vote though but I won't divulge which category I opted for!
Firstly, the link between scammers and terrorism is nothing but a wild theory at this moment in time and highly improbable, particularly with regard to Nigeria due to cultural constraints.
Secondly, scammers are not generally, as most people suspect, victims of poverty but greedy young professional who are looking to 'get rich quickly' without the need to climb the socially acceptable ladder.
It's easy for them with so many foolish or easily led people in the rich West eager to perpetuate, albeit unknowingly, their cruel games.
Ah well I live in Spain most of the time so I'm talking about our lovely cured ham which contains more protein than fresh ham and has been proven to reduce cholesterol.
A dish of lentils veg and a little cured ham would cost me less than a euro here (significantly less than a McDonalds) so I guess what I said earlier about where you live and what you choose to eat has a bearing on all this.
I don't believe so, unless of course one buys free range meats and dairy products which are very expensive. Basics like fruit, vegetables and pulses are very cheap wherever you live.
A dish made of lentils. vegetables and a little ham if you eat meat. is much cheaper than an unhealthy McDonalds meal.
Beards come in all different styles and colours. A big bushy beard (particularly if it's ginger, nicotine stained, or a food catcher ) does not appeal to me whatsoever, but a trim, short beard and moustache can look very nice.
Do you know what's most interesting about these polls? The results of the voting! I have refrained from voting on this one Detente, I'm sure you understand why, yet many women have voted?
Interestingly (or sadly) the male votes for the over 40's are basically saying I'll take what I can!
My understanding of high maintenance is someone who spends a lot of time and money on their appearance, be it clothes, cosmetics, hair and more radical, cosmetic surgery.
If men are voting against high maintenance for these reasons then I sense a little hypocrisy, for in my limited experience, most men take pride in showing off their partners particularly when they have taken the time and trouble to look beautiful for a night out.
I am in the UK for a week to see family before I return to my home in Spain, and my daughter, for the umpteenth time, has been badly let down by a boyfriend.
She is truly beautiful, both outside and inside, independent, great job, her own house, good friends and a loving brother who tries to look out for her, yet she always ends up crying and I can't do anything for her other than hugs, kisses and kind words. She's funny, intelligent, doesn't take drugs has never been in trouble yet she seems to attract these low-lifes.
Today, I phoned her as we were going to go shopping together, she tried to be strong and said she felt unwell, but I knew there was something wrong and she eventually sobbed down the phone. I went to her house and all she kept saying was "What's wrong with me?" How it hurts me to hear her say this.
It's too easy to flirt on here, we all do it from time to time and usually there is no hidden agenda, just harmless fun or for some, a boost to the ego.
Flirting in the real world is much more difficult, particularly if you are a little shy like I am when I meet people for the first time in a social setting. Ironically, put me in a class with a group of students and my shyness is non-existent! Strange.
Simple eye contact is the best type of flirting. Can't do that here.
Just go and treat it as a night out, nothing more, unless you both get on really well and feel that the relationship could develop.
What's 9 years anyway? You're only 34! If a guy here posted a similar comment about meeting a woman 9 years younger the responses would be very different I'm sure.
The simple things which cost nothing are the best surprises, like when he meets you from work just because he was thinking about you or when he has cooked dinner (and not left a huge mess in the kitchen!) without being asked.
It's time to be mean Rose, you don't want to listen to him and he definitely doesn't want to hear you, so if everything you've tried has fallen on deaf ears there's only one thing to say......
My father too was a mason and I grew up with a dislike of the society but couldn't really put my finger on exactly why.
My view has now changed as my best frend in Spain is a member and she is one of the most liberal minded egalitarian souls I have ever known. She has explained the whole concept of the society and its good works.......can't tell you though.....it's a secret!
Whilst I disagree entirely with the treatment of this poor woman, I don't think we should post knee jerk reactions and mass condemnation of Islam.
The school in question has a number of Christian teachers teaching its Muslim pupils so there must be some level of tolerance surely?
The assistant secretary general of the Muslim Council of Britain has described the incident as a "quite horrible misunderstanding" A spokesperson for the Sudan Embassy has said that she will be released soon and that standard procedures were followed after a parent complained. He also added that the Vice President of the country was himself Christian as are many ministers.
This woman is a teacher and I'm sure she knew exactly what to expect when she decided to teach in this country, perhaps in spite of this, who knows? We teachers who travel and teach abroad have a completely different mindset to many other people.
I eagerly await her thoughts on all this before I pass judgement.
I wish I was good at all things considered women's work. I can't sew, knit, iron, cook...well, I can cook but I don't like it and avoid it at all costs.
