Now that I'm working in Russia part of the year I should be able to realise my dream. It's around 5 hours away from where I work near Moscow so I couldn't make it last time I was there, but this time I'll have more free time to explore this vast country.
Hi Gilly, well, not very interesting compared to some stories I've read but here goes.
Brought up in Liverpool, happy childhood with 2 brothers and 1 sister, dad was a professional boxer and often away from home. Mum always worked, so I was often the carer for my younger siblings. They divorced just before my wedding day, sad but inevitable.
I met my ex husband at 16, married at 18, had our daughter when I was just 20 and my son at 21. Lots of grotty part-time jobs while the kids were young, went back to college, then university to gain the further education I missed due to marrying so young. Ended up as a tax inspector for many years then a civil service trainer which set me on the road to teaching. I resigned from the civil service after they had kindly given me 3 career breaks to travel and teach and refused to give me any more! I worked in Turkey, Poland, Portugal and Spain. Teachers have good holidays so my husband and I were together during this time, either when I returned to the UK or he travelled to see me. Actually we probably talked more than we'd ever done during those years and learned a lot more about each other.
However, due to this learning process, husband and I divorced after 23 years, then remarried a year later! Big mistake, so we divorced again quite quickly, I went back to Spain to teach again and stayed. Met a Spanish man who turned out be the most jealous man on the planet and I still have problems with him now even though I have a restraining order! But that's a long, story so I won't go into all that.
I was offered a job in Russia this year and now I work in both countries but Spain is my home.
I think I've had a good life so far, my ex husband and I are still friends, my kids have never given me any real trouble, I mean drugs etc, and I've made great friends all over the world.
Oh and my mum, her partner, my kids and my lovely elderly but lonely neighbour will be sharing Xmas lunch here in my little flat in Spain in a couple of days.
Of course we don't despise all men.....just that some women have had experience with this kind of thing. I posted because my daughter has experienced something similar very recently and it was hurtful to say the very least.
We had to keep our senses of humour intact when you and Ray were insulting our intelligence a few days ago didn't we?
Jan is leaving, I've been neglected by you two all night, but no worries, there's a nice young Cuban guy over there waiting to take me home. He's the one who's been buying my mojitos and dancing with me all evening whilst you two have been flirting with every lady in the club!
