Unless it's p.ssing down with rain for 2 weeks solid and you live 1 mile up a mud track on a mountain with sheer drops to the side of track ... In which case one tends to limit outings and skidding around to the absolutely necessary!!!
Kitty I want to thank you for feeling my (our - FOS/Gman) presence still on the site as an enhancement and projecter of hope rather than a nuisance as some have mentioned in the int forums
You and Lagoona both have such beautiful energy that I am sure you will both meet respectfully a kindred beautiful soul to share your life with
I mostly have heard (in SE UK) the word liberty in the expression "to take liberties" meaning to take advantage ... Have also heard of "civil liberty" in the sense of the freedom of a citizen ...
Freedom, independence, liberty refer to an absence of undue restrictions and an opportunity to exercise one's rights and powers.
1. Freedom emphasizes the opportunity given for the exercise of one's rights, powers, desires, or the like: freedom of speech or conscience; freedom of movement.
2. Independence implies not only lack of restrictions but also the ability to stand alone, unsustained by anything else: Independence of thought promotes invention and discovery.
3. Liberty, though most often interchanged with freedom, is also used to imply undue exercise of freedom: He took liberties with the text.
Well that's what the online dictionary says anyway!!!
For me freedom can apply to many different strands and types of freedoms IE physical (free of movement) & mental (freedom of thought)
Whereas as I would use liberty with more of a movement feel to it and less to describe a thought process
A bit of info about what was going on in the UK still not so long ago with regards to mediumship...
Historically, Spiritualism has been beset by prejudice from other religions and the state. Mediums could be moved on or prosecuted under the Witchcraft Act 1735 and the Vagrancy Act 1824.
A campaign was started to legalise Spiritualism but even as late as 1944 mediums were being prosecuted. In 1944 Helen Duncan was the last person to be tried and imprisoned for acting as a medium, accused under the Witchcraft Act.
What I have been told in mediumship workshops: (Apparently the government used the "old/outdated" witchcraft act to emprison her because during her seances she was releaving deaths of young sailors on submarines that were allegedly "at sea" but had been in fact blown up by the enemy. UK government wanted it kept secret in order not to sap the rest of the Navy and soldiers moral ... They had to silence her!)
In 1951 however the Fraudulent Mediums Act was passed that effectively legalised Spiritualists to practice their religion openly and publicly.
What I've been told in mediumship workshops: Apparently Winston Churchill was a Druid (I think) and great friend of Helen's. Although he could not prevent her emprisonement because the safety of the country had to come first, he promised to make it up to her and he was intrumental in the passing of the new Fraudulent Medium Act of 1951.
However, harassment by the authorities still occurred, (old habits die hard!!!!!) for example in 1956 the police raided another of Helen Duncan’s séances in Nottingham and 36 days afterward she died, partly it is claimed due to the shock of being disturbed from her mediumistic trance state. Even today the broadcasting media are very cautious about showing mediumship and aspects of Spiritualism in a serious way, categorising and denigrating it to mere entertainment (to protect their arses!!).
Just goes to show what "any government" can do in order to exercise "people/crowd" controle ...
I think most people you are being rude and disrespectful to ARE going to have a great day and week and year ... because they live on a different continent and don't even need to fart in your general direction
Hey guess what they're doing in our little village on Friday evening!!!!! They're having a "la tomatina" but with flour (harina) :doh they block the streets, shut all the bars and have huge vats full of flour to "coat" people in ... Since I'm allergic to fine dust me thinks I'll be having a cosy night in away from the village!!
In fact was a bit strange like this - when I met up with my present guy (GM), I was visiting my parents and bros and sis and extended family in France... so they all got to meet him almost at the same time ... We kind of all spent 10ish days together (some of the time)
Was very interesting for me to watch for their reactions and listen to "comments" made to me.
Now my parents have already witnessed 2 of my weddings and met another long term ex-partner ...
My Mum doesn't like strangers staying in the house, yet was offering for him to sleep under her roof and as I was leaving to be driven to the airport by new found mate, my Dad who is not easily moved to tears - had tears in his eyes (not of sadness at seeing me go) as his parting words were "it's beautiful to see you like this".
May I please remind forum posters of the rules!!! No names mentioned!!
Rules: - You ask a question between two (and only two) alternatives. - You answer by picking the alternative, not a combination or a different choice- Don't answer your own questions
