It's only when you watch 'not so old' films and tv dramas that you realise just how commonplace and widespread smoking in public places was and how much better we are after the ban. Having said that, most pubs and bars could easily have well ventilated smoking areas rather than being forced outside for the odd ciggie.
Hi Ali, Visiting your country was certainly the culture shock that I expected. But I was not expecting the the level of warmth and hospitality that we found just about everywhere we went, a very humbling experience, one that I will never forget.

Not a country, but Liverpool has a high proportion of young single women...most of them pushing prams.
