RE: Supermodels

It's sometimes a matter of perception!!
I have many times been told by women who are big boned or just on the larger side that of course if I didn't starve myself I wouldn't get so cold blah blah blah! blah blah because they assume petite and slender can only exist through starvation.

In truth naturally "thin" people don't suffer from any slimming sickness. It's only when people try to achieve that look by taking drugs or becoming bulimic or anorexic that it becomes a problem. Often they are encouraged by the fashion industry either from within or from without looking in ...

What about animals? Asks Youcannow...
Same with dogs! Some races of dogs are very thin by nature. In fact many animals are overweight because they are overfed and lack exercise when they become house pets.

People are used to seeing overfed animals and are shocked when they see starved ones because of the contrast. Yet they are used to seeing skinny models in magazines and on TV so it appears normal to them.

Brain not engaged! Passive existence I think!!

RE: Supermodels

I have no fear of looking like a proper grown up!! snooty

RE: Supermodels

I always weighed 42 & 1/2 kilos and was a size 6. But when I no longer smoked about 9 or 10 years ago, I put on a couple of kilos and I'm now a size .
I have a fast metabolism and at times found it hard to put weight on. Even though I'm not very tall I think I have heavy bones because I can't float in water ...
It's good that the modelling industry is facing the anorexic problem of the models ...wave

RE: Tears in happiness and smile in sorrow

Once about 10 years ago or so!!!

I was sitting on my terrace on the Spanish Andalucian mountains where I live now, really upset and crying because my daughter had lost the will to live and then I looked up and realise how lucky I was to be living where I did and to have such a beautiful place to be in while I felt so upset. I was crying and laughing at the same time. Not exactly laughing at my sorrows but the closish...

I have laughed at material disasters where things were so bad that laughing was the only option! laugh

RE: Pie on 'the Christmas Party' and other Government misdemeanours.

All videos are filmed then edited. They are filmed for a purpose then they're edited to transmit the message they were filmed to do. Of course they're going to be edited in a way that supports the message they want to convey. Why assume the original debate was likely very different if the focus of the debate was what was shared in the published video? Do you assume that the information videos published by the government would likely convey a different message if they weren't edited? dunno

The whole point of such videos is to be published unchallenged by "authority" ie the government since any of the professionals who wanted to challenge the government narrative was silenced

There's a difference between "verified" in the sense you use it and unchallenged.

Civil disobedience would fit a scenario were might be were citizens disobey a "law" or "civic rule". The government are acting on our behalf but citizens don't agree with the "rules" being implemented by the government who represent them.

Intelligent disobedience fits a scenario were a subordinate disobeys orders from commanding officers or bosses. My take on this is that if the government is acting like they're everyone's commanding officer (dictatorship) and they're imposing measures supposed to keep people safe, but there are hundreds (probably thousands worldwide) of professionals who can see that the measures will not achieve the goal that was set, then by not complying and implementing the measures they are carrying out intelligent disobedience ...

Intelligent Disobedience

I think I understand what you mean... which is why I keep very quiet unless I come across information from what I perceive as a (non-governmental) verifiable source. Although I know you picked many holes on a video I shared in the past, at least it started a conversation and encouraged lateral thinking and questioning ......

I think the situation since March 2020 is anything but easy to manage emotionally and many people have been affected on a deep level emotionally and mentally. Fear and loneliness affects people profoundly.

Bearing that in mind helps a little to be more compassionate and thoughtful when posting or replying to posts....

Intelligent Disobedience

I don't understand what this means CC...

[quote=ChesneyChristBut then what is the difference between intelligent disobedience and narcissistic disobedience? The latter expects complete and total obedience from others. The difference is that narcissists disobedience would only serve the narcissist whereas intelligent disobedience would serve the greater good of everyone.

If a narcissist was in command and ordered his/her subordinates to do something that would serve only him/her and have devastating repercussions on others, then his/her subordinates would be justified in applying intelligent disobedience ...

RE: Diana's Impact

Under normal circumstances it wouldn't matter at all. It would start to matter if he became in a position to be in line for 'the throne' in royal protocol terms...

Intelligent Disobedience

I think so yes. From what I understood it would have been intelligent disobedience.

Intelligent Disobedience

I don't think so SA.
Intelligent disobedience is when a lower rank officer disobeys an order because the order goes against the objectif of their mission or job at hand. On flight 93 the passengers were trying to recover the plane from highjackers with sinister plans ...

Intelligent Disobedience

The video has nothing to do with what is happening now ... it's actually really interesting ...

Intelligent Disobedience

I don't think so but then I only read the resume of the Manchurian Candidate ... I don't think the first sentence also showed you how it had been successfully adopted in other areas of command like passenger planes were there were so many disasters due to human error and how intelligent disobedience was encouraged in order to keep passengers safe... one of the reasons we can fly more safely today ...

Actually you avoided the question I asked you and didn't reply. Read back and you'll see!

It would have been rather simple to have said. "Yes I would have said the same to a guy", or "No, I had that reaction because you're a woman" ... super simple!!!
