So good your 5 year old has had only mild symptoms, must have been so worrying ...
In Spain they're telling people who are testing positive but have no symptoms to return to work after 1 week of isolation and asking people to NOT get tested if they have no symptoms. Because they couldn't cope with the queues of people wanting to be tested out of fear rather than because they felt ill...
I was really lucky when I was flying back from France after Christmas because it was very difficult to get testing appointments and without a test I couldn't fly back. Fortunately my 89 year old Mum has a nurse visit her twice a day so she offered to bring her testing kit and test me at my Mum's. She also brought her laptop so she could input all the test info online and I could get a QR code. Glad I tested negative so I could fly back
Who says I don't understand it? I read it, then yes copy and pasted meaning that I'm not just sharing "my take" on it which when talking about " mind stuff" is a sensible thing to do, which is also why I posted the link ...
Thanks for your opinion Pat! I have been familiar with the word gaslighting in a "psychological sense" for quite a while now but had never discussed it in a group!!
The modern meaning has nothing to do with the street gas lighting to which you refer but for sure that's where it happened first!!
That means 68% of people in hospitals ARE vaccinated??!!
Well when you consider that people who had their second dose over 6 months previous to their admission are registered as "unvaccinated" if they didn't have the booster, it probably means the the numbers of "vaccinated in hospitals is even higher than 68%
My reality for sure!!! You are not gaslighting me by suggesting that at all Jac.
Unless in an imaginary scenario you would make a suggestion different from the one you may have suggested the day before and when asked about why the change of mind, you'd reply "what change of mind? I never said such thing yesterday". THAT would be gaslighting particularly if it happened repeatedly! imo.
So I noticed what I perceived as "gaslighting" going on around me and I thought it would be a good subject for discussion so I did a search and copied pasted the parts that corresponded to what I has been observing ...
It made more sense to copy information that was written by someone who had at least researched it. And I posted the link!!!
Tell me about the temporal inconsistency? Are you taking about the film?
Thank you for writing it big spaced out letters so I could read it easily Blathin! So thoughtful of you!!
Unfortunately (or rather fortunately) your patronising ways have not helped you get your message across. Your fear and perceptions don't match mine!!
And personally I have put no Doc, or nurses or hospital under any strain and personally have had no expectations from them apart from expecting them to respect their Hippocratic oath.
I have no intention of getting the jab or jumping through hoops when I perceive so much incoherence in the information "they" are releasing from "official sources". I have however spent time with 2 persons who tested positive and refused to not hug them or wear a mask and here I am! Totally fine. Have had a few tests over the last couple of years and they've always come out negative. I know quite a few people who have been more sick with the vaccine than they were when they had covid and I know a few people who have been very ill straight after the 2nd vaccine.
I hope the fact I didn't write in capitals doesn't make it complex for you to read my point of view and perception.
Ohhhh and many of the nurses and doctors who are leaving are not leaving because they are "worked to the bone", MANY are leaving because they can't keep their job unless they get vaccinated and they refuse to be vaccinated ...
Apparently the "scientific formula" (or whatever you call things like the name SARS 2) of omicron and the common cold is the same and so are the symptoms.
There are many more people "testing positive" but much fewer admissions in hospital in Spain. Those are officially released facts.
In very basic terms, sometimes they're aware and do it purposely. It's a form of control and the lack of ability to admit to ever being wrong and sometimes they do it without realising because they "learnt it" as a way of interacting from people around them ...
The term "gaslighting" first appeared in print in 1969. The term is derived from the play Gas Light where a manipulative and deceitful husband drives his wife nearly to insanity. It was adapted into the 1940 British film, and the more famous 1944 American remake.
That description is pretty much the reality of how people experience it at different degrees in their everyday interaction with people, at work, in friendships or relationships or even in discussions online to a certain degree sometimes.
There are many different subtle or not so subtle ways to try and make people doubt themselves and what they just heard, or read or experienced.
It can be complex or simple ...
It's good to have feedback from everyone on their own experiences of it ... I think

The one I'm talking about involves my son (without enlisting) just after his A levels, joining for an apprenticeship as a Telecommunications Engineer. 3 year program with a monthly salary with full board and lodgings on base. We had to buy him a suit for all the interviews after he passed all the exams! A very proud moment!
Well done the young lads!!! Mine's now the Dad of a 5 year old and about to have another one with a young woman he met while they were both working for the MOD.
RE: Omicron... bring it on.
