I have never smoked, but help people quit all the time. Bit far away for direct help, but can offer few suggestions:
1. Start to think of yourself, and feel like you are a non-smoker. Picture yourself as one. Do this many times a day, and preferably when you can take a few minutes out, to sit/lie down and relax, close your eyes, focus on your breathing.
2. Get your living environment to reflect that you are a non-smoker: get rid of ashtrays; throw out any cigs you have at home. If you can't yet part with them, place them somewhere that is really difficult to get to eg high up on a kitchen cupboard; wash out any clothes, curtains, have lots of fresh air into the home; clean out your car. When you do throw out any packets of cigs/tobacco, make it a bit of a ritual, say your goodbyes in some way to affirm you are a non-smoker.
3. See a good hypnotherapist who is also a psychologist if you need extra help
4. Avoid any drugs/patches, if you can, as you're trying to get the rubbish out of your system, not replace it with more.
5. Remember, it takes 3 days for nicotine to leave your system. Thereafter, it's the habit component.
6. Make sure you address whatever may be the possible triggers, eg, with a coffee, a drink, when feel anxious, angry, when with others who smoke....Then break that chain of events
7. Redirect the energy that you normally would use to smoke a cigarette, to something more positive and constructive, eg, more work, go for a walk, have a glass of water, make a phone call to a friend, etc
Ah, yes, so true! Thanks. Rationality has totally left ME right now, it's 2am. Would be good if I actually read everything on the screen! Yes, the film I was thinking of was obviously 'The Shining'. Darn, I nearly had it there!
Hang on, Jack Nicholson's character was a crazed, sociopathic axe murderer! I don't understand why you would use him as THE male to represent ALL men Is there some embedded message in that? But then, we've removed 'rationality' and 'accountability' from the equation, so I guess you might not understand why you used him either!!!
I don't understand which single word you don't understand. Do you understand what it is I don't understand about what you don't understand? Please let me know if you understand.
Whew! Glad you agree. I naiively entered that deep, dark, forest a few times long ago. Took me ages to find my way out! It got quite scary you know, with the big, bad, witch and all!
BEST NOT TO TRY! JUST DON'T GO THERE, TURN BACK YOU'RE GOING THE WRONG WAY! IF YOU ENTER IT WILL BE LIKE ENTERING THE THICK FOREST OF NARNIA. YOU'LL NEVER FIND YOUR WAY BACK!!
Hi Katie, just read this wonderful news. Congratulations to you and Iceman!!! Wishing you forever happiness together, and to both a long and healthy life. Let us know what your bouquet flowers you choose, lol.
Hi sparky, If you're getting back home in August, maybe get lots of advice from some free legal advice bureau, and think of representing yourself. Very do-able, given the errors now seem quite clear cut You might stumble a bit along the way, but it might be worth a try, so you don't lose money hand over fist. Meantime, get it rented again, quick, even if only for 6mth lease renewable Good luck.
I love cooking, and I don't have anyone preparing a meal for me when I come home, usually after working a 10hr day But then, if I really don't feel up to it if I'm really tired, I just take a detour for maybe a yummy Thai dish, or anything quick and tasty that someone else prepares for me while I sit back enjoying a glass of wine
Agree though, that if either partner has time on their hands during the day, it is only thoughtful for the 'rested' one, to maybe prepare a meal for, and generally pamper, their hardworking sweetheart
Hey karen, Congratulations! Just checked out ur profile to see your age before I posed some suggestions. So you have found a wonderful guy, obviously a lucky one, too! All the best in your new adventure and journey together! lol
Oh, really? Ever thought that soemone reading this might have been a victim of a violent attack? How do you think they would feel? Wasn't me (but couple of occasions almost was, except for someone coming past and intercepting before any harm done). I have a terrific sense of humour, but really, what WAS so funny, other than the fact we were duped? Just an opinion though, lol.
sorry, but I can't share in the joke. Potential violent attacks on wome are not a laughing matter. Many other things to joke about. Goodness knows there are enough warped actions committed by some men towards women, you don't have to joke about it.
Hi Ecoprincess, keep in touch, you will be most welcome here Can take u and your friend wine tasting in the gorgeous Barossa region or our fab beaches, or even hiking through ancient hillsides/cliffs with waterfalls, and tons more. LOL
Hey bubbles, just don't die on her in the middle of it. I know someone who's young b/f did just that, had a brain annurism and turned blue with her on top of him, CPR, mouth to mouth... Trust me, not a pleasant thing to do to ur lady, not one u love anyway!!!!
