RE: Tell us about the people you've met here so far

Most of the people that I've met here are an eclectic, very diverse gathering, fraught with fabulous insights and stunning "outa-sights" opinions and comments filled with usually good sound advice, posible solutions and cures for the many problems that are openly and safely brought up ; humour to the point of causing hysterical outbursts of laughter at the visions conjured up in one's eye of the mind,(or at least what some some of us have left that we liberally term "a mind"); levels of human compassion far surpassing that of everyday "real life" that we see on our streets, or so it seems. Inner personel experiences extended to others for no other motive than to simply help another: the very essence ofthe definition of to be Human in such an inhumane and sometimes such an un-human world.
Overall, most are a shining collection of very unique peoples that many others should strive to be similar.
I am very pleased and feel somewhat "privileged to be here, truth be told...

RE: I'M TIRED OF BEING ALONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

he seems to have a well chosen and fortuitous screen name; perhaps he will live up to it....

RE: Southern Belles

ahhh, mercy beaucoup mamselle! Tu est adorable! I loved working and travelling through all of "louzianna",especially Cajun country; Loved New Orleans, still had a nice "European" feel to it, same with Baton Rouge,I even liked Jax beer! as I usually loathe beer! Good memories down there!

RE: Do children really scare people off?

For what it's worth, my attitude has always been to keep an open heart and open mind; if one loves the woman who happens to have children, they are part of her; one cannot restrick Love; sadly it has never been the othe other way around; mere mention of my having children has always abruptely ended any conversations.

RE: Southern Belles

I love all the Southern accent's, especially the deep south of Louisianna, Miss. and Alabama; all had their own regional "twinges" ; the Gulf coast accent and manner of speaking so similar, yet so different from the north end of the state. I found the timing of speaking quite amusing; Mississippi taking the longest to finish a sentense, it made them seem sort of "worn out", tired;too languid, but it was still Charmin'. The education levels also affected the accents, even without having to go to special speech classes to loose the drawls. Having seen Gone With The Wind about 20 to 30 times, and comparing it with what I heard everyday while working down there, it's a near perfect match; and not like on these moronic tv shows that seem to go out of their way to make fun of, to insult and denigrate southern women, white or black, using old formulated stereotypes . My favourite? ummm, I'm very partial to French, and "Louzianna" had such a large variety of accents to bathe in...

RE: Background checks -- should you?

Great idea..in principle; lawers would have a field day with it especially stuffing their pockets with the fees; I'm surprised that they haven't pushed for a law exatly like that , just to make more money from it. If it could become a law, hopefully it would find a way around the legal challenges the lawyers would make, then tear it apart...

RE: Background checks -- should you?

ladies, you are talking about your lives here; run whatever checks you can, women's instincs are no guarantee about your lives; far too many are no longer around, after a "security check", a mutual check at the Doctor's office; exchanging vital information is not the same as exchanging "vital bodily fluids" which can infect and ultimately kill you just as dead as some psycho with multiple personality disorders...stay safe, stay alive;play safe, have fun!

RE: Does anyone get scared they may have found the "right" one on here

Scary isn't it! Step 1 you can't avoid; someone is going to have to visit the other; no way around it, and yes, it can get expensive even going "half and half" on travel costs then "if it still feels right for BOTH, get to know them first, very well before any really serious planning any moving; and ALL posible options write them all out, make lists;don't rush, plan very methodically one day at a time;love rushed is love regreted. On some visits, you may have more "work" than fun, don't become impatient! but still make time to have fun!!

I tried to stand all night; too tired, I fall down...

RE: Age

I've always tried to keep general ranges; keep age ranges fluid with one guideline: if she could be my daughter, then probably not or when I was a lot younger and she old enough to be my mother, then probably not;"probably" is leaving it fluid; now I don't have to think about it; no one is or would be interestedanyway in a poor, ugly and old fool;that aside, lets recall that some ; a lot of the famous "love stories" of History involved couples with quite large age-gaps; one of my favourites is that of Dante who met, fell madly in love with and married a 15 year old girl; she is/ she gave him the inspiration to write Dantes Inferno, one of the greatest pieces of Literature most of us read in college levels here.
Age is only really important as far as wines and cheese go; or health problems; "young-at-heart" versus maturity/imaturity aren't germaine nor exclusive to each other; imaturity is far easier to have or even regress into; it's a mental inability to get on with reality, of Life; Young at heart is "spiritual",an attitude/or what I call an altitude;have fun! Love early.Love often, Love when you have the chance, where you can, we all do need it...

RE: I Remember The days When......

My son is learning all about the great Rock groups, he just found a copy of Dark Side! Mint condition(!!) still with the sticker and a poster at a garage sale ...for 10 dollars!! Rock-on!

RE: If you can turn the wheel of time backward, what would you change?

So many options, so many points in Time; so many choices...where did it all go wrong...too perplexing...too baffling!
For myself, the most obvious point seems to have been when I was given a scholarship for some college called Pepperdine way out in Malibu, Calif.(?) It was from what I had heard, possibly the best for earning degrees in Poly-Sci.as this was my target.I had wanted to eventually join the "Diplomatic Corps" for the UN; "help try to make this a better world for all of us to live in..."3-piece suits and attache case etc, come and go into any country in the world blah, blah.
Instead, I went in the opposite direction for my degrees; afterwards, I ended up in a camo suit and an ak47 but that is another story! The regrets are many and haunt me still. C'est la vie, c'est la guerre...

RE: what do you think your best feature is?

Oh, it's more than just that; your whole face...it shines, it sparkles with an air of amusing delight..what were you thinking about when the picture was taken...something delightfully decadent ummmm...Ha!

RE: What Makes Men Run Away?

Killed by rebels??? What would they be rebelling against..? Him being there...or did you mean a "timely convenient accident to anotherwise innocent bystander" like in downtown Lagos or Abidjan by rampaging hordes against the high prices to attend the annual playoff's of pigmy basketball tournaments...?
Another possibility is threaten to publish all the "sordid" details about him in your newly aquired book deal(all details are labeled "sordid",; it sells more copies that way!) Have fun though!

RE: Those Darn Kids!!

Ahhhh...kids, parents, grey hairs, padded rooms, those are the real roads well traveled by us all at some time..ummm, ingrediants for a song perhaps...?
My 16 yr.old daughter has an open invitation to go and live at the town dump because of her room; I just laugh when she complains that she can't find something or even move around in it!Not my fault!
Dungeons????? as in And Dragons?
Lots of the old Gothic Revival period homes/ manors along the Hudson Valley in NY have what can/ could be classified as "dungeons" since many resemble European style castles.
I've seen a few in Germany; one was from a "Robber Baron", supposedly a very distant cousin. The castle was undergoing renovations for tourists and I had a look in it's "dungeon":Yuck! dark, damp, mouldy and the stench was enough to gag anyone! It was mostly empty but there were old "rack type" tables and cuff chains on the walls and over passageways...only God knows what may have gone on in there, but then again I've seen prisons that were worse and one could hear the screams of the poor souls inside. Some Bordells have them but in those, what you hear is mostly giggling and hilarious laughter which can put a smile on most anyone's face; if your dungeon is similar, then perhaps I shall try...there was an old r&B song back in the 60's called Whip It On Me Baby! by a Jesse somebody...? are your whips made of silk and ribbons???? Who runs it?? Is it a "sting operation" Sounds sooooo decadent; must be fun!
Yes about Marty Feldman: he played Eye-gor in the hilarious film Young Frakenstein.

RE: Who's Up at 3am

I was up then; too hot to sleep and this site slowed down to a crawl, then pages would not come up, so I did a systems check and removed more spyware as it infiltrates your systems it slows the computer down. Then all operated nicely and I was able to finally nod off for a few hours, then log back on and catch some posts while I do the laundry...and the beat goes on...

RE: Those Darn Kids!!

HA!!! Can I ever relate to that scenario! Just think how dull, pointlee and fruitless our lives would be if it weren't for what falls off the fridge door unto the floor and oozes, flows, spreads ever closer to the far wall, overflowing whatever is in it's paths...will the one responsible for overloading the door racks or removing the rack-shelf bar clean the mess up... the next ice age would come first! Well, what shall we do...up into the tower for 40 lashes!? hang them upside down in the closet for several hours...make them part of the floor...options and decisions oh the trials and tribulations of parenthood...hey, we can do it to them when they have their own kitchens, using galloping senelity as the excuse!!Pay back time! HA!

RE: What's Your Ancestry?

Hi Joanne! Good for you! It's a beautiful language; so much marvelous literature, so wonderful and imaginative to swear in and you sound so refined while doing it!! For many countries and peoples it still is their first or second language and so diverse in cultures! Learn and travel!

RE: Rudeness, Shyness, Courtesy, Inconsideration, or ?????

ahhh! you can't go back and re-edit these; i meant to say..if reluctantly honest...(!)

RE: Rudeness, Shyness, Courtesy, Inconsideration, or ?????

Hello Isabella! Nice to meet you als!
To be totally, completely although be it reluctantly ,but I am not only extremely nervous but actually "scared-to-death" as it were, to initiate contact let alone send a flower. The major reasoning, aside of never having a reply(wich is a type of message in itself), is that it has/is always misinterpreted; in real life, I seem "dammed" if I do initiate any type of contact, and "dammed" if I do not, or do not repond to "signals" I've given up trying to figure it out; I "miss-read and I'm mis-read so consequently I avoid any situation, as much as I can, with any female; that is outside of those that I work with, but with all this "politically correct" polution of the workplaces especially here, it's dagerous! It's stiffling! Most of us hate it, but there are those that thrive in it...oh well, the point was basically I feel totally awkward, "inadequate" etc. , I'm trying inch-by-inch to get over this, constantly dreading to be told to "F..K OFF!" It's strange that when living in Europe, I've never once experienced this...

RE: just curious what people think about this

My goodness gracious! You're not following the Madison Ave. philosophy of "Looks are all that matter; the appearance of whom you are with, reflects your tastes in people..." I've worked around those types until I just couln't stand it anymore. All your major magazines, be it on Fashins, Dating,Decor etc. constantly push this egocentric and narcistic philosophy; only looks/ appearances matter, when the looks fade, change the fabric, the clothes, the person, the style; there are always new items to choose from! Items, this is one of the major underlying themes that are shown in countless staged photos, be it of people, clothes, couples and even home furnishings; we are all items. Sorry, I not only beg to differ, I proclaim that we are human beings with emotions, with feeling, with needs, wants, desires; we laugh and cry and love; we Feel; we are not empty statues or empty chess pieces to be manuvered and positioned on Life's playing boards and buy with our own money to unthinkingly follow your twisted ideas! The working environment of that world is so formulatedly artificial that it was like being in some vast warehouse of mazes filled with zombies directed by the various overseers of Directors, Editorial writers, script formulators and manipulators , all dictating what they think people should be like. "..well son, if you can't or won't follow the Team and play ball, then we won't have any further use of your services..."Linger on my middle finger! I left that world and went back to the Real world; the imperfect world of Humanity. Well, as far as ever finding a real human female as a life long mate, it did me no good, I was and am still me; but there is always that bit of self doubt in one of the various swamps of my mind...is it my fault or not, that no one wants me...what went wrong...for a very brief time I actually thought I found her, but alas, it was not to be...
My apologies...I really didn't mean to vent/ rage/ babble on this way; perhaps I just needed to after reading the above posts; it set something off. %)
