Same reasons as there is for modern propoganda, where you're threatened by an opponent, you tell lies about the opponent(propoganda)to your people, to whip up support in defence against the opponent.
Absolutely the Quran says horrible things, Christian and Jewish scriptures of the past have both been pretty disgusting too, again it's the mindset of the followers that ultimately shapes the religion.
If Christians and Jews can make good upon previous dogma and hatred, so can Muslims too.
Glad to hear it, my point is essentially that a Muslim in one country may not be the same as a Muslim in another even though they both share the Quran.
So if we're not equal, why would it necessarily be men above women? Women endure more in life, behave better and commit less crime, so why not have men with inferior rights to women justified by these truths?
Cameron will have a go at changing this, we'll see how he fares with the Liberal millstone around his neck.
Then again the benefit sytem is there for people who won't help themselves. They'll close a college or freeze a pensioner long before targeting someone like this.
I would say we, as in we society, are incapable of going back, whether that is for the better or not. I wouldn't say the fact that many people are sheep is a modern phenomenon.
There are hard and easy times littered throughout history. Not everyone from the easy times makes it through the difficult times. In other words, natural selection.
I believe every contributing member of a first world country should in theory be able to own their own home, science certainly makes this possible, but usury and sloth takes this away. What is it you were saying only the other day about aspiration?
The mortgage racket and excessive borrowing in general are only a symptom of an economy in dire straits. You have to ask yourself the question as to why the people lack their own purchasing power in the first place and subsequently need to borrow so much? It is because few wealth creating jobs reside in the West these days.
The reason for that is because of what job the average westerner is willing to do, and how hard he/she is willing to work at it in comparison to other people's of the world. Reagan, Thatcher etc understood this, but instead of solving the problems within their own house, they instead chose to sell it. The system has not changed much since then, only now we have precious little left to sell.
Probably the Neo-cons were a bit better, the Left usually won't tell anybody they are wrong unless they are rich people. However, anyone can one day call themselves Republican and the next Democrat, they are just words. That doesn't remove our part in the live for today and forget tomorrow way of thinking that's so prominent in people even now.
Carter warned of this ultimate recession too, and Reagan played a big part in causing it.
The recession is global and most economies in the world function in an incredibly similar way, nothing quite like freedom is there.
Everyone posting on this forum is to blame like Obama or Bush. Five years ago not many were complaining of living on borrowed money and borrowed time, and now everybody moans because we've had our cake and eaten it.
Anywhere in the EU has only a portion of the freedom of America, seems to only have delivered us into a system of Liberal-esque Stalinism with its henchmen of loyal pc thought police.
Do lots of small parties create choice or do they simply create the illusion of choice?
I think it causes voters to get lost in ideologies and Factionalism, which is ripe for exploitation. It is especially dangerous during times of crisis, think of the Weimar Republic and the millions that ultimately died because of such an anarchic Democracy comprised of so many jostling political parties.
The obvious point to make there is Europe. Is European politics, with its broader array of parties, any less rotten than the American political system?
Party for parties sake is not Democracy, neither is it in the interests of anybody.

Nooo don't worry about your typing, I was laughing because looking for moral guidance on an online search engine says alot in itself.
