What Frank said -
I love the old swing stuff but I don't know the words, it's before my time, I just like it in the background. Tonight Frank Sinatra sang something that caught my attention. I listened again. And again. And wrote down a few of the lines. And thought yes. That's me, tonight. That's where I am.I’ve been a puppet a pauper a pirate a poet a pawn and a king, I’ve been up and down and over and out and I know one thing, each time I find myself flat on my face, I just pick myself up and get back in the race –
That’s life, that’s life and I can’t deny it, many times I thought of cutting out but my heart won’t buy it, but if there’s nothing shaking come this here July –
I’m gonna roll myself up in a big ball, and die. .
Well, maybe next July. I know, I know, dramatic. I have moods. Welcome to this one.
But just putting one foot in front of the other - that's not LIFE. That's existence. I want it all. And I want it now.
So how's your Friday going?

Thats life that's what the people say, you're riding high in April, shot down in May.... I can relate to that.
I love the Jazz songs of the 30s too and the women singers. The lyrics are great too. Billie Halliday etc., Enjoy !!
Rose petal? Seriously?
I seem to have been missing some interesting conversations
When I worked for the Los Angeles Dodgers we had him sing it before a game one time and he requested the sheet music. The guy that was responsible for it never got it and poor Ol' Blue Eyes just stood there in Center Field while the music began. Hee Hee!!
I also like the one My Way by him too.
I can sometimes relate to both.
I like watching rugby and I do enjoy all those huge guys singing their national anthems in the world cup games, their hands on their hearts, singing away or, sometimes, just miming ...
GG I do like this music but maybe not tonight, I'm in a basically good mood but perhaps a little more volatile than I had realized
CC I'm sure My Way will come up any time now and yup, one of my favourites too! That's one of the few where I HAVE listened to the words before now, they're great.
It just seems that - well, it's Friday night. And 5 minutes ago it was last Friday night and I don't seem to have achieved much in that 5 minutes.
Feeling volatile Biff, thats allowed... go with it.
Don't bump into Mr. Rose Petal or you could collide. You have been warned !!!
Enjoy the vino
You'd better run for it
Mind you, HC jnr plays a mean piano and even double bass very well..so,pretty good muso.
Yes, 'Got you under my Skin' with The Count Basey Orchestra!
I sound old!!
The first half, Al Jolson, the second, Sinatra. Incredible singer, one of the few to master controlled breathing.
Just never been a crooner type of moll.
What have I DONE????????????????????????????????????
I blame Sinatra. I do. And Martin. And Louis Armstrong
I just wish I'd been drinking, then I could blame wine as well.
And now I have to make tracks before the message gets read.
Night all, love you lots. If you too have become schmaltzy and sentimental listening to these songs, do not, I repeat, do NOT, write any messages.
Men are stubborn and easily distracted. It could be weeks before
he mails ya. Start flirting again.
Robby you are right, Sinatras breathing technique was second to none.
Connick is a great musician, more than a singer... I still like him, ditto buble though not a patch on Frank S.
I've only like Sinatra in recent years.. I was too young to appreciate the music,
That awkward moment when you hit enter instead of erasing.
Been there, done that, hated myself for that moment of weakness...
Next time... een teen die kop!
I think I have forgotten how. Be gentle with me ...
I'm not a crooner fan as such, but some songs really work for me.
Oh, by the way, guess what's playing NOW. Righteous Brothers, Unchained Melody. I think the universe has a cruel sense of humour sometimes.
Turns out the cat typed the whole message, AND hit send. Bad kitty.
