Past care givers lament.

I laid each night and counted your breaths, afraid to sleep, least they ceased.
The days of joy, the long dark nights.
Hopes for more, a week, month or years. Dare I wish, a decade or more?
And then one morn, I sat by you in I.C.U., next to your bed, and watched those breathes slowly go. So soft, so fast, shallower and shallower til your lips trembled and you were gone.
And my heart broke.crying
My life, my love, my shining knight, 31 years, and now, no more.
20 years your sickness took..and gave. So close, so intimate, so loyal.
We'd never shared a life that close, except when you, me and MS, those 3, made you and me just one.
The day that came, we always knew would be one day.
Yet for all my fears and all my tears, each crisis passed and you stayed mine.
Yet, how unexpected came that final day, that day MS took your breath away.
Now I wake, alone in bed and will that darkness to give me those sweet breaths, that filled my life.
To give sweet kisses upon your face, your bright blues eyes , that loving smile.
How empty now this house, without those breaths to count.blues teddybear

What habits can lead to significant increase in lifespan?

The data used for this study was collected between 2011 and 2019. It featured U.S. veterans between the ages of 40 and 99. Over 30,000 participants died during the follow-up.
The study found that men who have adopted all eight habits at the age of 40 would be predicted to live 24 years longer, on average, than men who adopted none of these habits. Women who have adopted all eight habits by age 40 would live 23 years longer on average compared to those who adopted none.

The eight identified habits are:

* being physically active
* not smoking
* managing stress
* maintaining a good diet
* not regularly drinking alcohol excessively
* maintaining good sleep hygiene
* maintaining positive social relationships
* not developing an opioid addiction

9 things people want most in life

There are nine things people want most in life — forget everything else:
1. To be loved
Love can be abstract and it can be concrete. It can be the act of snuggling. Saying the words “I love you.” Or not saying the words but knowing they’re felt. It’s about showing up and comforting people. Or allowing them to help us.
But even when we have loving relationships, we can get so familiar with it that we forget to notice. Allow for some enchantment and fondness. What’s small can still matter.
2. To be understood
When people’s opinions of us clash with how we want to be seen, we feel alienated and isolated. But to be understood by others, we must first understand ourselves.
Think of your signature, the mark that makes you who you are, both internally and what you show the world. Wherever you go, whatever you do, there’s a thread of continuity.
Never stop thinking about what it means to be you. It’s a lifelong pursuit.
3. To have power
There are times when the desire for power is beautiful and life enhancing. But when our longing for power is an attempt to compensate for a lifelong deficit, we can zigzag between swelling visions of glory and crashing despair.
Embrace flexibility and moderation. Power isn’t about control over others; it is about authenticity and authority. Stepping into your power can be your way of claiming adulthood and taking responsibility for your choices.
4. To have (and give) attention
“I haven’t looked into my children’s eyes for a very, very long time,” one person confided to me at a moment of deep discovery. “I’ve been so angry at life, I forgot to notice this beautiful creature I created.”
More and more, noticing her children helped her feel less wounded. Attending to them in a deep, attuned way healed something for her. By really seeing, she felt less deprived.
To feel more fulfilled, make a point of concentrating on an activity or topic that matters to someone you love.
5. To have freedom
For a teenager, freedom might mean not having a curfew. For an adult, it might mean setting your own work hours.
Ask yourself what kind of freedom you want. The freedom we pursued when we were 20 isn’t necessarily the same freedom that’s available at 60. Adjust the terms and conditions of your commitments.
6. To create
If you insist, you can have creative moments every day just by observing and being curious.
Express yourself imperfectly. Change your point of view about an issue. Take in something new and let out something personal. Experience something fresh.
7. To belong
At times, you might feel alienated and at odds. But if you can feel comfortable in being all that you are, you can experience not belonging with more ease, even with delight at times.
It’s about being secure in all that you are, even the awkward, clumsy, oddball moments — especially those moments! If you’re just trying to fit in, you will miss out on truly belonging.
8. To win
?I’m delighted with myself. I did brilliantly. Well done, me. I see that I’m skilled at doing this, and I have done an excellent job,” a 55-year-old once said to me. “This feels like a win.”
Consider what “winning” means to you. The definition changes and the rules vary. Honor your successes, however small.
9. To connect
If you’re carrying trauma, shame or a source of pain, it takes courage to open up and be vulnerable with someone. But when you feel safe and comfortable, revealing something private can bring you to a place of acceptance.

Truths about profiles on CS

How much truth is written in a profile?
Here are a few untruths I have found.
One guy, seems to unage with time. When I first spoke to him on cam, his age on CS was 76.
Looking at him, he looked like 80 and I asked him, yes, he was 80 but “felt” younger!
At the moment, a few years later – he is now 74 (!)

Another one, I think he got his age right, but not his marital status. The profile is not a new one and marital status is given as divorced. Just before we were supposed to meet, I get a whatsapp from him saying his wife has just arrived at their house so he wished to postpone are first meeting. I blocked him, only forgot to block “telegram” too. A few weeks later he begs to continue our getting to know each other and that they are in the process of divorcing (she is 82!).
Finally, we arrange a meeting for a few days later, get a whatapp saying sorry, met another woman on CS and will not be meeting me.
Poor her – lucky me!

Thinking about all strange profiles on CS - the, mostly younger guys, showing the most hideous profile photos.
To me it shows their "intelligence" nothing more. A good "start" on CS- or not?

Did we notice summer?

I say that if I dont hit the ground running in April, summer is over. And I am right. Almost August and what have I accomplished on the farm? Drought had me running ragged to haul water to save plantings. I cut down some scrub trees. Futzed here and there and that imaginary do list is undone.
Spring rains had fields with standing water. So guy didn't get them planted. Then the drought hit. Got 2 inches of rain and then he planted soybeans. I went to check and tiny things spouted. They are hanging on even though no more rains. I can't believe how nature will struggle to fulfill destiny. Maybe rain tonight. Please?
I should be working on buildings. Trucks. Brush, wood. Funny how I can come up with 100 excuses to hang in the house like in winter.
I have hens who sit on eggs. Even the cement fakes. Dummies! Set up one in brooder cage. She sat her month til one rotten egg left and gave it up. I opened the cage and the hens now cleaned. So beat my brains out to bend an old steel snow shovel blade the way I wanted to make a metal bottom in the carton they sit in. Put in hay last night. One hen is broody. So add eggs and hen and cross fingers. I have 19 chickens and be nice to get a few more.
Kittens around. They breed fine..sigh.frustrated

When you are able to control your tongue, it shows you have matured spiritually. Misuse of the tongue can lead to destruction, sometimes without even realizing it. Learn to let go of unwholesome chats and let only beneficial things come out of your mouth. If you are not able to guard your tongue you are going to be in trouble here and hereafter.
uh oh laugh

Your tongue can save you and lead you to heaven, it could also create enemies in life and lead you to hell. Therefore you should learn to control your tongue.cheers laugh

Record heat

It’s not just a record-hot day or two, unprecedented heat waves or abnormally warm ocean waters: All indications are that this will be the hottest single month on Earth on record, and possibly in more than 100,000 years.
Every day this month has set records for average global annual temperatures, and already, 17 days in July have been hotter than any others in more than 40 years of global observations, climate scientists said.
Not even three weeks into the month, scientists’ declarations of an already assured monthly global record serve to punctuate what has been an onslaught of recent weather extremes. Record heat has been observed from Arizona to Rome to China. An unprecedented wildfire season continues in Canada. Flooding — juiced by the fact that warmer air holds more moisture — has devastated Vermont, northern India and South Korea.
“We’re just really starting to see climate change kick in,” said Nathan Lenssen, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Colorado focused on historical temperature data. “Seeing so many types of weather and climate extremes in a six-month period is pretty remarkable.”
While it is too soon for official records, all preliminary data points to this month being a watershed for the globe.
National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration data captured on a daily basis and presented in widely shared charts from the University of Maine’s Climate Reanalyzer have so far “been largely validated” by other analyses, including one from the Europe’s Copernicus Climate Change Service released earlier this month, said Zeke Hausfather, a climate scientist at Berkeley Earth and the tech company Stripe.
“Given the extreme global temperatures over the first half of July, it is virtually certain that July will set a record both as the warmest July and as the warmest month in absolute terms since global temperature records began in the mid-1800s,” Hausfather wrote in an email to The Washington Post.
July, the peak of the Northern Hemisphere summer, is the planet’s hottest month in any given year because the Northern Hemisphere contains more land than the Southern Hemisphere — and because land heats up faster than oceans do. That means Northern Hemisphere temperatures have an outsize influence on planetary averages.
At this point in the month, it would take “truly dramatic cooling” in the waning days of the month to offset the warmth observed over the past few weeks, said Michael Mann, the University of Pennsylvania climate scientist known for the “hockey stick” temperature plot that shows modern-warming is unprecedented in at least 2,000 years.
Such cooling is not expected to occur given the presence of an El Niño climate pattern that developed last month. El Niño is known to boost the planet’s temperature, as warmth stored within the Pacific Ocean pools at its surface along the equator, driving changes in weather patterns around the world and releasing more heat and humidity into the atmosphere.
