Is Niacin a double-edged sword...

30 years ago, I had high cholesterol levels and told by my family doctor to take niacin supplements that will elevate my metabolism and help reduce cholesterol naturally. I did and soon after started feeling joint pain, so I stopped taking supplements and the pains went away.

4 years ago, I started up with a cardiologist and she said my cholesterol was 'in range' but a little high, so I started taking 500mg of niacin daily and noticed joint pain again.

Researching the research always finds difference in how much niacin (aka vitamin B3) is necessary. Since many foods are rich in niacin and it's added to cereals and flour, the need for supplements may not be necessary. I found one statement from the Mayo Clinic, 16mg is the recommended daily amount. (so why does it come in 500mg strength?)

I'm finding a contradiction as some sites claim niacin reduces inflammation, yet another site claims 'in a new report' it may raise the risk of heart disease by triggering inflammation and damaging blood vessels. However, according to one story:

The researchers currently don’t know where to draw the line between healthy and unhealthy amounts of niacin, although that may be determined with future research.

"The average person should avoid niacin supplements now that we have reason to believe that taking too much niacin can potentially lead to an increased risk of developing cardiovascular disease”

I read that niacin taken to reduce heart disease has been found to cause it.

What do U.S. citizens living in Colorado think about possibly not having a choice to vote for Trump.

Most Trump voters were firmly opposed to the decision.

For the uninformed, the Colorado’s highest court ruled and barred former President Donald Trump from the GOP primary ballot.

I choked up... just a little.

A few times a week, I pass a cemetery that borders a major roadway. It's a huge piece of land, probably 4 acres and appears to be full of flowers on the grave-sites. The cemetery in Miami where my parents are buried doesn't permit artificial flowers and I don't know if this one does but, as they say, people are dying to get inside the place, hopefully those who are remembered will get real flowers and not fakes.

I can see when the ground is prepared for an upcoming burial as they have plywood covering the hole and a blue canopy with wheels set over the plot waiting for the event. Sometimes, there are a few scattered around the cemetery, especially on weekends.

If I pass by in the afternoon, traffic may be backed up at a red light giving more time to look over and see people visiting the graves of loved ones. One day, I saw a man sitting on the ground and appeared to be leaning over a small gravestone. He had a wheelchair that was tipped on it's side and partly folded, also a blanket laid out and what appeared to be a basket. My best guess would be, he brought food and intended to be there for a while.

From the street, you cannot see any roads or walkways, my guess is the passage ways run parallel to the highway and it would be extremely difficult for someone in a wheelchair to maneuver over the lawn to be where he was.

Twenty minutes later, after doing an errand, I passed the cemetery again and the man was still there. It's been a few days now and I keep thinking about it...

I chose the blog category: Family and think the man is still grieving over the loss of a loved one.

America is no longer offering liberty and justice for all.

I watched some, not all, of a highly emotional video although I REALLY hate videos which try to manipulate my emotions which is why I didn’t watch it all and haven’t linked it.

It was a tale of abortion refused, and the year that followed. Stripped of emotional throbbing-voice content, the facts are pretty simple.

The couple had five children already. They had previous drugs and drink issues. Four – FOUR – of the children had already been taken by the state as they were judged unfit parents. She tried to get number six aborted for a very real health issue but was refused. Strike one.

That health issue - she’d fallen pregnant again when her earlier child was three months old. The embryo was embedded in the C-section scar from her last pregnancy which meant chances of carrying to term were non-existent. Chances of life-threatening complications, extreme. Not good enough reason for an abortion. Strike two.

Complications indeed but both mother and child survived emergency premature birth and the child went straight into an incubator. The closest hospital with suitable facilities was an hour away. Mother America dug deep to pay the mother the life-changing $14 a week paid to mums whose kids are in hospital at a distance, to spend as she wished.

The baby was discharged, still needing a feeding tube and specialized care, and did I mention quite severely retarded? on the first birthday of its older sister, presenting serious care issues. Too young and too disabled to be put into day-care facility, but here’s a little problem, both parents work, neither parent eligible for European-style parental leave or support. In fact, it seems the states refusing abortion ironically offer the least support to mothers of newborns. Some American logic for you. Strike three.

Well, I gave up on the video at that point. Even the American who had posted it didn’t seem to realize how shatteringly badly it reflects on you as a supposedly advanced country, it was posted as a heartwarming tale of courage in the face of adversity, to tug at the heartstrings. Aw.

jaw drop

I drew some conclusions, then deleted them. What's the point. Add your own if you feel a need. I do find that my interest in your Big Issues, now I've seen your ignored ones, is diddly squat.

There’s a blog at the moment mocking the way Europe tries to look after its own and hoping America doesn’t go that way. I deleted my comments on that too.

Who is going to be the modern day George Washington and destroy the Marxist movement in the USA.

I would rather the USA not end up like today's Europe. God help us, and the rest of the world, if the USA goes down that insane socialist path. We need someone patriotic who will stear the USA and the world in the right direction.

The Good and The Bad,the joy and the suffer

In the begining there was only Good and Good make blessing.
Later came Rebellion of An Angel who became evil and comes sin and suffering.
The Good brings joy, the bad brings suffer.
Doing Good lead to joy and happiness, doing Bad lead to sin and suffer.
Those who don,t know God need to know and so will be lead to salvation and life.
The Good will be forever and the bad will end.
Doing Good will open door to see Heaven and Earth.
Therefore we are created to do Good and not Bad.
God is Love and Good. Therefore we become Good when we do Good.
The road to Good is infinite ,those that walk in this road are blessed.
The Good was in the begining and will be forever.
God is Almighty and know everything. God is Perfect and all righteous.
There are people who don,t believe in God and so they talk against God, that is sin and rebellion.
God is The True Judge who judge and punish the sin and rebellion.
The Evil make those against God to be rebelled and to sin.
Every thought, every word, every deed that do Rebellion, bad, and sin comes from evil !
And so it make to do against God,against men and against his self.
Every thought, every word, every deed that do Good lead to Heaven,to blessing ,to life and to God and Happiness.
Therefore start to do good and you will find yourself in the road of Goodness. You need to believe and obey God,this will lead you in the road of Goodness which is infinite.

God bless.

Busy

Happenings in the music room. Everything is in slings because a new electrical circuit is being ran through to the next room. In the chaos though, I figured out a better arrangement for the music room for once everything is finished and back in place again.

Managed to fk my left shoulder yesterday shoveling. To anyone who lives south and want to see snow, its a total nuisance. Its nice to look at but a headache to deal with. Within the last week, 5 separate snowplows have went off the road here in my small area alone because the snow we got was too much to deal with. Apparently, the word is that the whole government department right down to the plow drivers are holding meetings to figure out what happened because the plow going off the road in these parts is unheard of here, let alone 5. The snow was very wet, heavy, dense, and wind packed. Sticking the shovel in it was like trying to shovel through sugar that got damp and stuck together.

Economy boom/bust

According to the media and idiots in DC, everything is rosy. The inflation is up only a smidgen. Which means..its up!doh Jobs are up. Wages are up. So are rents, insurances, food, and most everything.
Fast food workers got $15-20 wage increase. McD and Coke just took losses. American Doll just shut down the Wisconsin office building..work from home or re-locate to Cali. Cutting costs. Car plants laying off after workers strike just ended for higher wages. Goggle lay-offs, Amazon lay-offs.
the economy is doing just fine. Yeah? Try surveying the homeless evicted lately. The laid off workers. The fixed income ( like aren't we all?) people trying to decide whether to buy groceries at inflated prices or pay for heat.
The true picture is not rosy. People splurged for the holidays. Ran stuff up on credit with no intention of paying for it. Cards are maxed out. Returns are up. People are employed..yep. Working 3 minimum wage jobs. Now they are hit with heating costs, rent increases, tax time and seeing how much they spent in December.
This country and others are set on a buy, buy, buy mode. But, half of the younger gens are living with parents like the old days. No new car..or used. No apartment. No house. No marriage. No kids.
And the Gen Z are rebelling. The new cool is second hand. Hitting resales for all their clothes. There goes the sales of new.
Bit, Obiden looks out his basement window at the snow and says, isn't summer pretty.comfort roll eyes
