The Beatles versus The Rolling Stones...

Flashback to February 1964 and The Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show. Later the same year, The Rolling Stones appeared on Ed's show as well as many other groups from England... The newspapers called it The British Invasion.

Long hair, VOX amplifiers and uniforms for some. It was soon after local radio stations were asking kids to vote. I was 12 years old and asked to vote. School mates were taking sides asking me to vote my favorite band: The Beatles or The Rolling Stones.

How can you compare? They were musically different and different in how they got packaged. I doubt Hells Angels attended a Beatles concert!

I did like Brian Jones and his influences on the Stones, but I was too young and distant to the politics surrounding his leaving the band.

McCartney still performs and so does Ringo Starr, their two other band mates are gone now. The Stones less a retired bassist remain intact and are still touring. 56 years later McCartney and Jagger are still trading barbs as to who was better... The Beatles or The Rolling Stones.

My vote?

quinine, strychnine, any nine...

Trump announces he's taking hydroxychloroquine and days later people are trying to home brew their anti-covid-19 remedies.
Here we go again with folks. News yesterday said Schweppes tonic water with quinine has disappeared off the grocers shelves and they are predicting a rise in poisonings with 'monkey see monkey do' folks trying any similar defense to the COVID-19 pandemic.

...and you though no one would be so gullible to try bleach injections, this one could be exponential!

Operation Warp Speed...

Operation Warp Speed...

I'm listening to a live stream dated May 15,2020 from USA TODAY and getting whiplash. It's 36 minutes and I'm replaying parts so I can fill in the blanks because something isn't fitting in the timeline.

4:02 minutes into the update: "Scientists from NIH began to developing the first vaccine candidate on January 11th, think of that... within hours, the viruses genetic code being posted online, so January 11, most people never even heard what was going on January 11th and we were out there trying to develop a vaccine, not even knowing what were up against..."

Lots of tidbits:

"We don't have the formula for a vaccine, but we're gearing up!"
"Our military is completely rebuilt."
"Vaccine or no vaccine, we're back."

Trump speaks for about 16 minutes and passes the podium to Dr. Moncef Slaoui who removes his mask and talks 6 inches from the same microphone as Trump. He steps back and General Gustave Perna with no mask steps up to the podium and speaks for 2 minutes. A secretary approaches the podium without a mask gives some accolades to the team and says "We started working on each of these areas in January and Congress has provided nearly ten billion dollars explicitly for this kind of research..."

January was mentioned several times they appeared to make a point this started in January.

The leg propped up stance...

Some women do unusual things to be noticed and that includes splicing 3 poses into one photo with some hip contortion that makes them look disfigured. Years ago when I actually responded to messages, one woman wanted my attention and sent a message. I looked at her profile and photo that had an unusual appearance. Her foot was turned inward 90 degrees. How horrible I thought... either she had polio or a stick up her but keeping her from falling over!
So I did the right thing and asked if she had polio. How was I to know she would be offended?

laugh

I don't know if there's a name for splicing photos into one... it does get your money's worth as a photo speaks 1,000 words. This one must be 3,000.

BOLO Palm...

If you watch TV detective movies, you know that BOLO is a police acronym for 'Be on the lookout' and in this case I'm issuing a BOLO for a Pennsylvania blogger who goes by the alias of Palmfrond. Like a day trader, it's normal her her to close her profile and return a short time later, but the COVID-19 pandemic has her missing much longer.

Tough times, I know she's had more than a share and if someone has contact with her in real life, please pass a message that I wish her the best!

When your face is covered...

I'll forget your name in 10 seconds, but I will remember your face. That's a family trait I blogged about and try to change, especially since I'm in sales. I'm in trouble If I don't write your name down first. Dimples, overbite, big nose, bad cheeks... those 'features' are what makes you... you.
The game changer is everyone is wearing masks now. I cannot see your face so I look at other features to recognize you. Another trip to Walmart this morning and I realized, hair, boobs and butts have become the new means of recognition.

Back to work...

I got a call yesterday from the owner of the company who offered me a sales position. He had a 'start back' meeting and wanted me to attend. The county enacted the phase one and many non-essential businesses are back in operation. It's masks, hand cleaner, shoe covers and alcohol wipes for us and be extra careful of where we go and what we do as all our actions now are viewed with a different eye. Getting in and out of condo security may change now that everyone will be wearing masks.
One (masked) woman came to the showroom looking to renovate 2 bathrooms and I'll see her on Friday. Another appointment was also scheduled for me on Friday.

Extended vacation is over... it's back to work!

Mask Up...

We already know the White House has been hit by COVID-19 and it's become the most tested place in the world right now. Trump and Pence have refused to wear face masks. I already brought up a possibility (other than stupidity) why they would be so bold as to do as I say and not as I do and continue... but. But, if the president and the vice-president are stricken with COVID-19 and required to be admitted to ICU, that would leave the Speaker of the House next in line to the Oval Office.

Uhh... do they know this??

Maybe it's time to Mask Up.

I selected the blog category as sports... after all, who is running the country, or should I say who will be running the country?

Zero APR & 84 months to pay...

I knew car dealers would have a tough time selling cars this month but I didn't know they would be making crazy offers. One local dealer is offering no interest loans with 7 years of payments and no money down.
That roughly works out to $357 a month on a $30,000 transaction.
If you are keeping cars longer and purchased one from an 'off lease' dealer you would be getting into a deal with a 2 year old car and your last payment the car would be 9 years old.

You can shop from your cellphone and they will deliver the car to you.
Something to consider?

That scares me. It does.

S(O)NGLAND...

Last week (and again last night) I watched a TV show called SONGLAND where unknown song writers go to Nashville to compete. Each week there is a guest music star and three writers chosen to each perform one original song in an attempt to be selected for the star to decide which song to record.
The song writers get to perform the first round with their songs in a raw format. There are 3 'judges' who critique the work and offer suggestions to improve each song, especially making it personalized for the guest recording star who appears that week.
Each judge is assigned to one of the writers and they take the raw song massage it (pitch, tempo, lyric changes as necessary) into a finished product. After, they return to perform the finished work where the guest star has to decide on the winner.
While it was no spectacular show of talent by the writers, judges or the recording star, it did give some insight to the music industry as to some of the collaboration required to a good melody and lyric into the viable song!

1600 Covid Avenue, Washington, D.C.

It's been a busy month in the White House where Trump's valet, 2 Pence employees, 3 white house staff members and something like 11 secret service agents have all tested positive for the coronavirus.
Testing, testing, testing and serious concern for top officials in the oval office.

I shouldn't speculate on this one...
